Ragnir stopped the group at the edge of the woodlands at midday.
"We'll make camp here for the night. Say your goodbyes now and return here ready and stocked for a long trip. This won't be easy and I can't insure your safety."
He began to collect long branches and started constructing a lean-to with a large piece of dark green material from his bag.

Kerag gave both Venom and Chaz friendly looks and walked back to his shack in Wistvale, locking his journal in the safe hidden in the wall, not wanting his personal thoughts and feelings revealed to some stranger were he killed during the hunt. He next went shopping and bought cleaning supplies for his weapons and a fully stocked potion belt. Finally he strapped on the armor of Oktai, feeling much more comfortable with its history guarding his flesh, it's wisdom and the experiences of his warrior kin not far from his thoughts. A heavy axe was strapped to his back, Amaranth sheathed at his side.
The orc returned later, thumbing the bestial countenance on his amulet. He found where Ragnir told them to make camp, red eye glowing in the dim light. He nodded to Ragnir, waiting for his companions to arrive.

Chaz came by later, his small frame burdened by a packful of tools and a tube-shaped metal object strapped to his backpack. He sighed and looked to Kerag.
You're sure you want to do this?

He rubbed the back of his neck, ears against his head.
Well, yeah...but...I'm curious. He paused.
Yes, go ahead and make the joke, I've heard it. But about the dragon scales. I want to ge able to make something from them, or at least have a sample on my shelf. I trust you and the other guy well enough.

Venom had no one to say goodbye to and had everything he needed with him already. He had stayed with the man, helping with the fire and hunting for food. By the time the others came back, he was laying on the ground by the fire with his eyes closed and his arms hugging his sword, which layed on his chest.

Kerag didn't wish to disturb Venom's sleep, so he chuckled lightly at Chaz's remark and smiled.
"I'm curious what you plan to do with such materials," He scratched the back of his head, an idea popping from nowhere. "Suppose I could lug the head back into town. What a trophy that would be eh? Champion of the Arena and a Dragon Slayer!"

The sun begins to set and the forest starts to darken. Ragnir stirs the fire a bit with his staff.
"This will be one of the few times we have a fully lit and visible fire. Most other times we will be travelling through dangerous lands and we will want to remain unseen by creatures and anyone else around."
He turned a few stones into the middle of the fire and spread it out so it would die down soon.
"You should all relax and get sleep now. Tomorrow we will begin to move east. Remember where the sun is and know your directions. Tomorrow we will travel without voices."
He set his pack down and rummaged through it until he found an envelope. For a moment he looked at it, then took the pictures out, discreetly giving Kerag all but the bottom few. He put those in his pocket and cleared his throat.
The iconographer worked. I sent it to Anri, and she sent those back.

Kerag carefully listened to Ragnir's briefing.
"Understood Ragnir, we follow your lead in this endeavor. I'll rest soon. If my abilities can be of any assistance during the hunt, don't hesitate to ask."
The orc turned from the hunter, and looked down at his friend Chaz, eye widening with delight as he examined the photos, grinning from one lupine ear to the other.
"Astounding Charles! She's beautiful my friend, and this is the baby...Ah to be a family man!"
Kerag reminisced on happier days, smiling.
"You must find a way of enlarging pictures, I'm thinking of framing one for my home, to cover the patch in the wall. When we return, I should like a picture of all my friends together, something pleasant to wake to, to remind me what I fight for."
Kerag gently patted Chaz on the back.
"Quite impressive Charles, you never cease to amaze me."
When they were done conversing, Kerag sat against a nearby tree, not far from the fire and closed his eye, axe and Amaranth not far from his side.
Chaz was too lost in thought about that enlarging pictures idea to respond before Kerag went to sleep. He stood anxiously for a moment, deciding what to do, before replacing the pictures and pulling his pack near the fire and lying down, using his pack as a pillow and trying to sleep.

When the group awakes, Ragnir is sitting by the fire, stirring the final embers. The sun is only a few degrees past the horizon. The air is damp and cold. A few birds and insects can be heard.
Ragnir throws dirt over the last of the fire and begins to take down his shelter. He puts a finger to his lips to signal silence to the group.
He rolls up the material and straps it onto his bag. He twirls his staff in his hands and wathes the group.

Venom had yawned as he woke up stretching. Upon seeing Ragnir signaling to them to remain quiet, he nodded and get up putting on his gear. He noticed a difference in him. It was a whole new side to what Venom had originally seen him at the tavern. Ragnir was better off not drinking.
Kerag opened and closed his eye a few times, still resting against the tree. He rose silent, strapping both Amaranth and his trusty axe to his person. Venom and him both saw a side to Ragnir which confirmed Kerag's suspicions that he was indeed a master hunter. The orc smiled, getting all of his things together.
