So metal mages are not able to effect metal worn or carried by another person. Does the same go for the other areas of magic as well?
My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the workings of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
Would it be ok if Alex and Neko still had their telepathic bond when in close proximity to each other, or is that too much of a perk? Ok either way, just wanted to know.

Negatory, too much of a perk.

So, as I've been working on Xana's back story and thinking on her character I've come up with a couple of questions.
I'll try and be concise but will most likely fail. From the time I started planning her out I knew I wanted her to lean towards unarmed combat and non-lethal force. So I gave her 4 points in Martial Ability and 3 in Agility.
Then I realized that I wanted to run with the non-lethal force thing. She will kill, but prefers to disable instead. I thought that with her current skills I could say that in her training she has developed the basic techniques for this. With her martial prowess skills giving her at least a basic understanding of the weak points in the human body that could be supported by her few points in lore.
She doesn't have any points in medicine though, which seems like it could present a technical issue. So, from a story-telling and character building view point I was thinking part of her story could be her studying medicine(specifically things like pressure points and anatomy) for that purpose.
So my questions would be:
1: Am I heading in the right direction for what I want to do with her? As in, should medicine be the thing I want to invest her first few skill points in or is there something else that makes more sense?
2: As far as this specific game system goes, is this a feasible direction to be taking my character in? Also, I suppose I should clarify that she will kill things, especially a delicious chicken for her dinner or a mindless ghoul or zombie. Rather, if she can knock out her enemy, perhaps rifle through their belongings for some gold, and then either flounce off or deliver them to the proper authorities then she will.
Actually, if you look at my build you will notice some points in Medicine. This is actually there to compliment Grayell's knowledge of herbal applications and to work much in the same manner you have described. It's not going to count for much, but sure; he could role play manipulating pressure points. Of course, without martial prowess it would be rather silly in a fight.

Okie Dokie. Well, I believe I gave her 4 points in martial prowess, so I guess i need her to go adventuring so she can earn acclaim and learn her some medical knowledge. Thanks.
Yes, but they might carry torches. The body sweats, and thats water, and any light will create shadow on the body... Thinking of nasty ideas for Alex to hurt people.

I'm not the word of god on this, but the reason the rule about metal magic was to stop uber-powerful metal magi from winning every fight by going all trash compactor on the opponent's armor, or, in the event of a duel between players, twisting the other guy's 5 trillion gold piece magical sword of doom into a pretzel.
The justification was that, when you carry something like that around with you all the time, there is residual energy from you transferred into the item - not enough to allow them to influence the metal, but just enough to foul up spells worked on it.
In short, unless that guy has been carrying the torch for ages (get it, get it? aren't I clever), or had the same beads of sweat around him for a long time, then chances are that their residual energy hasn't time to imprint onto the item.
Again, not word of god on this, but I'm fairly certain the restriction only applies to bits and pieces of metal. However, there's nothing stopping you from, say, ripping that 5 bajillion gold piece sword of magical death from their hands, jamming enough power into it to over ride their residual signature, and THEN twisting it into a very sharp, very doom-y pretzel.
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Thanks Alec! That's how I figured it would work, but wanted to be sure before I actually went out and did it. I know you're not the official word on this, but I'll go with it until told otherwise.
BTW, I hope you are able to stick around. It would be nice to have another Noctis to work with. }

I have a few (probably easy-to-answer) questions after the purchase I just made in store.
Clothing & Armor both go in the Body section of Equipment. Does that mean you can only have one or the other. So a player can't wear Clothing AND Armor, correct?
And Clothing isn't considered Armor, so it won't have any draw backs when I use magic, right? I just went over the rules again and noticed the part about the impact of Armor on magic users.
Also, can weapons be used in combination with magic? Or is that an either/or too?
These answers are just my opinion and may be over ruled by the owner of the site, but here we go...
Clothing and Armor occupy the same slot so I would say its one or the other. If you have both for different situations, just post at the start of a thread which one you are wearing.
Clothing would not effect magic use, no. There has been some talk to clarify the rules for armor and magic that I will post at some point, but basically what it boils down to is wearing armor can cause fatigue, especially if your brawn isnt high enough for the level of armor. So a mage wearing armor would tire more quickly than one wearing just clothing.
This is the one that more my opionin than anything, depending on what you mean by it...
Magic can be used in connection with items and weapons. Ive seen air mages use magic to guide their thrown weapons or make them hit harder. Weapons that have an elemental effect I have seen being manipulated by magic as well to some degree.
if you mean can I swing a sword and cast a spell in the same round, I would say its possible as it would be along the same lines as dual wielding. tho it may effect how successful each attack is.
I tend to follow the usual RP rules for actions in a turn:
Neko is on it. Basically feel out the pace of the adventure. It's not action based, but doing too much in one post means too much work for a GM and that the player might get a rude awakening. I like to give players the chance here and there to just all out brawl and write their own results, so they can showcase their skills.
Think of the time required to do things.
I don't have an issue with combinations, just be modest about it and ask for a ruling if you come up with something outside the box. I look forward to it
