Kat looked around idly, tapping the tips of her fingers against her knees as she waited. She honestly didn't want to impose, and just as honestly didn't really want to sleep here -- at least not for long. She had a craving inside for her own place. Somewhere high and secure, difficult for anyone but herself to access.
Kiko returned with the tea. She still did not a have a proper tea pot, but she was very particular in this area and Wistvale was not the place to find what she required. Still, if nothing else the tea was warm and she poured and offered it to Kat first, then the Wolf; before taking a cup for herself.
She had heard most of the conversation between them, but, beyond a gentle press of her lips to Grayell's temple said nothing while they they drank the tea.

Kat seemed to fold up in the chair around the teacup, obviously used to doing such things to draw all possible warmth out of it. She raised her cup to Kiko and Grayell, muttering something in an incomprehensible language before she blew a cooling breath across the tea and sipped at it.
Her eyes closed in pleasure and a real, genuine purr rolled out of her, coming from deep in her chest.
Grayell smiled at Kiko and then to Kat and likewise, drank his tea in silence. The three of them, sitting in the gloom and apparently quite happy... well it was precious. He had made sure Kat would be very comfortable this evening at least.

Kat looked at them over her teacup, her eyes turning distant for a moment as she remembered-- another time, and a time best not dwelt on. Not in company, at least.
"I have been here for... a little under a week now? I still do not quite understand what it is people do here. I came here because whenever I asked the question 'where to next?', people always told me, by one route or another, 'Wistvale. Everything starts again in Wistvale.' So I came. I do not understand what people here do yet."
I'm not the one to ask Kat. Though, as to doing? I have yet to lack for things to do. However, I was a mercenary. I suppose I still am, if only with a single employer.
Kiko put her teacup down and favored the Grayell with a very familiar look. She had only become a mercenary as a necessity. She'd offered him her sword in whatever capacity he might require of her. And, as of yet, those instances were few.

Grayell chimed in then. This was actually quite the question but he intended to keep it simple.
People here do start over. Without prejudice. So long as they can be of benefit to the community, everyone can find a home here.

Kat looked thoughtful, opened her mouth to reply, hesitated, closed it again, then sipped her tea once more. "My apologies. I am not sure how honest you would like me to be about what my particular skills are, or what I could bring to the town." She smiled sheepishly, as if her skills were nothing consequential.
Kiko's voice was smoother now and infinitely soft. The tea had soothed her throat, something she needed after spending so much time talking to Katerina back in the tree. Well, for her anyway.
From what I've seen everyone is accepted here on their word, unless proven otherwise. You have no reason to be fearful of what they might think, Kat.

Grayell shrugged but nodded as he sipped again from the tea.
This is not a job interview Katerina, I am not about to pry. You enter my home as a friend, you will be regarded as one.
He placed his tea cup down then and sighed, a verbal indicator of his relaxing.

Kat's eyes narrowed softly, and her mouth twisted to one side in another apparently unthinkingly cute mannerism. "Well, if you need a house broken into, something stolen, somebody quietly killed, those I can do. People charmed or people seduced, I can do those to. That is where my skills lie."
Kiko's eyebrow winged upward. She expected the house breaking, burglary, and deception; but not active killing. Most thieves tended to stay away from murder. At least, in her experience.
Kiko poured another round of tea for everyone. She was not all that familiar with thieves, that is; on the friendly side of the equation. Normally, she was hired to chase them down and retrieve whatever trinket they had stolen, or protect some wealthy merchant from them on the road.
She shot the Wolf a glance over the top of her teacup, unsure of what to say now.

Kat did not miss Kiko's suddenly raised eyebrow when the killing was mentioned. She smiled faintly and clarified, "I do what I must to survive Kiko; lie, cheat, steal, whore or kill. I do not enjoy the killing -- usually -- but if someone must die by my hands in order for me to survive, then I will do my best to ensure they at least go quickly, quietly, and in as little pain as possible. I would be lying if I said I wasn't good at it, but it is not exactly a skill I want to make my living off the back of."

Grayell grunted but only managed a shrug. Again, she was here as a friend and not to be interrogated.
Contract killing within Wistvale is illegal. Thieves and the like can ply their trade here, but expressly putting contract out to kill another citizen will have everyone involved in hot water with the guard.
That is not to say your skills can't be useful. Kiga is proof of that.

Kat shrugged and curled up around her teacup again. "It's not a skill I want to employ unless I really have to. I'm a dab hand at hunting, come to think of it."
She grinned fully for the first time, revealing a predator's elongated eye teeth.
