Kiko lead the way back through the trees and the fields beyond them. She didn't speak, and there was none of the excessive movements most people give in to when walking around. No, Kiko used her energy sparsely, only what was needed and no more.
She stopped when entering another wide expanse of trees and weaved her way through these as easily. Finally, she stopped and pointed upward to a house just now visible in among the leaves. A rope ladder was hanging down from it and swaying in the faint breeze.
Kiko grabbed a hold of it and started to climb. She turned back to Kat after going only a few rungs upward.
Follow me.

Kat did just that... sort of. Instead of going up the ladder, she removed her boots and slung them around her neck, before digging her claws in and swarming up the trunk. Once at the top she smiled and said, "I never did like ladders."
A shadow lurked in front of the fire, sitting with crossed legs. A knife was in his hand and it made delicate, controlled shaves off a piece of black wood.
His hands lowered though and his back straightened when they set upon the porch. He turned and looked at them both in the night light.
Well. Welcome home Chosen - I see you brought Katerina. I should see to some tea then.

Grayell pauses before he steps into the next tiny room and leans back, head out the door to respond.
Well yes, though a tad harder to get a hold of. Is that what you would prefer? I should have some in here....

Kiko took the chance his momentary pause offered. She stepped close to him, and pressed her face against his jaw. She stood there for several heartbeats, reacquainting her senses with how he smelled and felt. Then she reached up to tangle her fingers in the strands of his hair.
I brought the guest, Chosen. Let me make the tea. Please?
She had not thought about how he would feel when bringing Kat here, and her cheeks reddened at the lack of courtesy. Her voice was softer than normal when she spoke again.
I ran into Kat out by the lake. She has no place to stay and I did not want her to catch cold.

Kat, for her part, found an out of the way place to sit, it not being polite to Fade or Blend in someone's home -- unless you were there to steal from them, of course. Guest manners, after all, are paramount.
Grayell relished in the affection and his hand came to her cheek, holding there to share warmth and then brush hair aside. He was smiling of course, she rarely saw him otherwise in her dedicated presence - and he nodded.
Of course. On both accounts. No wonder I worship you woman...
He chewed his lip as he watched her a moment longer, before walking by her side. His hand slipped and squeezed her rear just once as he re-entered the main room and offered Kat a seat.
It should be but a minute. Please get comfortable... I don't have much but consider it yours so long as you're a guest here.

Kat smiled her bright, endearing smile and settled comfortably into the seat, folding her diminutive frame into it. "This 'not much' is more than I've really had... ever. So it's a wealth to me."
Grayell stopped what he was doing and looked at her a moment. He then smiled, laughing on the inside. It really wasn't much of anything.
Wealth is found in friends Katerina. This home is just the bare necessities and not grand, even by Wistvale's rather wanting standards.
So, you're needing somewhere to stay I take it?

"Oh, it's not wholly necessary. There's a nice warm, sheltered spot by the chimneypot of the bakehouse three doors down from the Tavern. I've been sleeping up there. It's protected and not easy to get to."
Grayell didn't look entirely amused any more. Maybe she felt that way or maybe she didn't care for charity, but that simply wasn't happening. Kiko or not, Grayell's door had always been open to newcomers. Even back when he actually had a door.
Alright, here's the deal. I have a hammock and plenty of spare blankets and you're welcome to them. I can arrange for you to stay at the tavern free of charge or we can find you a house to claim. Plenty of those left.
But either way, you don't need to be sleeping on someone's roof. I won't have it. Not in this town.
He chuckled then, realizing something.
Unless of course you LIKE it up there.

Kat shrugged with an expression of insouciance, ducked her head and then grinned. "Thank you for the offer. I actually do like it up there. It's warm, sheltered and protected. I can sleep quietly there, instead of having one eye constantly open. Unless, of course, the same is guaranteed here... and I don't doubt it would be. I do not wish to be an inconvenience, however."
Grayell only smiled with a nod before he rose from the floor.
Let me fetch you some blankets and a pillow. I'll rig the hammock where you're sure to be dry. The place is small but I'm sure it won't be any problem at all. And the hammock is very comfortable.
He left in search of blankets, which was hardly far to go. The next room more like.
