Elbowing Kiga in the side, Alec regards him with a cool smile. "I've really no reason to tell you, now do I?"
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
I've already proven you can be paid for information. Secrets my foot.

"Come off it," Alec scoffs, "the things I told you were hardly secret."
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Kiko's hackles had flattened back down. Her ears and tail, naturally, returned to a higher position, too. She was glad for the restraint. For several moments she forced the menacing thoughts out of her mind. The Wolf had not gotten upset at his friend, even if she had seemed to be purposely needling him.
Kiko did understand that at all. Oh, sure she would taunt enemies, that was a given. It was a proven battle tactic. Get them upset and they make mistakes. But, this Margrett had claimed to be his friend. Why would you want your friend angry? Kiko shook her head and blew air out of her nostrils. Maybe it was her, maybe she just didn't understand. It's not like she had friends.
Kiko backed out of the leaves and stood up. When she reentered the Springs her face was calm.

“Put some clothes on, you weird, yellow-eyed, table-dancing, werewolf-training, cryptic, stare-me-right-in-the-eyes-and-don't-even-blink wench.”
Grayell smiled widely as she slipped into the water beside him and immediately his arm found her waist. He looked smug, proud as she sat by him... but he turned to face her alone.
His eyes were alive when they settled on her, that grin twitching when his gaze shifted from her eyes to her lips, then back again. He pressed a wet finger to her chin.
Kiko settled in beside him. Her eyes when he turned to face her were somewhat puzzled, as if she was still trying to figure it all out. That was for him, though, no one else could see.
She lifted her face, too, with the touch to her chin. She reached out to run her hand down the side of his face in response.
Thank you. But, you didn't miss me, Wolf.
A strange comment, surely. But, he hadn't missed her. He'd known she was buried in the leaves.

Grayell shifted closer, his motion almost unnoticed in the water. He lifted his hand from the water and cupped her ear with a grin, his eyes on the others before he whispered to her and her alone.
You're mistaken. Every moment without you beside me is an eternity. The knowledge you are so close pulls at me, demands I join you. And when I must depart, when I must leave your side... my head is clouded with dreams and thoughts of you alone. I embrace sleep to know I dream of you but rush to awaken to be beside you in the dawn. I miss you always Yukiko.
She had no idea what to say to any of that. Just when she thought she had gotten control of her thoughts and feelings he managed to bring them to a screeching halt. And in the middle of people she did not know or trust. Her heartbeat was trying to escape from the cage of her skin, too.
Kiko pressed her temple to the side of his face. The gesture was more wolf than human.
I'm here, Chosen.
It was the only thing she could offer him in response.

He nuzzled against her and the little tension he felt seemed to melt, him easing her back to rest upon his arm as it rested on the side of the pool. His free hand took hers and held it carefully and he kissed her temple. He had nothing to say but turned to face the others enjoying the waters this evening. Bliss.
She leaned on the Wolf and when Margrett spoke Kiko's mouth curled in an unseen, but polite smile.
Thank you...
Margrett's eyes were closed and the other woman's voice wasn't near as slurred as it had been. Which caused Kiko to wonder. She doubted those last words were very truthful, either.
She turned her gaze back to the Wolf and forgot it about for now. There were other thoughts she would rather entertain and he figured prominently in them.
