Grayell scowled and only pointed the business end of his blade toward the creature.
Come now dread beast, you know why we are here.
Alec [M:118:6:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=412&page=1#1242]"I see," said the blind man to the deaf lady.[0:Wandering the stacks.][1:Present and accounted for.]
Appraising the room, Alec notes the unopened sarcophagi lining the walls. "I believe," he begins, "we're to have company." Looking at the end of the room, Alec notes the clapping silhouette. "A shade, perhaps?...at any rate, hardly a dread beast. Though a nasty beasty for sure, whatever it is."
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Rue stayed quiet. Unsure of the speaker's motives, she didn't want to say anything that could possibly offend him/her. She silently hoped the sarcophagi remained noiseless and closed.
the clapping stopped, the figure stood, snapping it's fingers the torches along the walls lit up illuminating the grand room. The figure was male, human one could easily see. His skin was pale, his attire depressingly black with shades of red. Long black hair framed his gaunt face.
Beast? Why, I take offense to that, such rudeness from someone when it is just the introductory phase.
A wry smile arced across the mans face.
Alec [M:118:6:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=412&page=1#1242]"I see," said the blind man to the deaf lady.[0:Wandering the stacks.][1:Present and accounted for.]
"Oh, you'll have to excuse our intrepid leader, sir. He's not exactly a people person. Granted, I'm not sure any of us are...." Alec trails off. "Anyway. You've got a sigil of some sort. We need it. Open the big door, beat the big bad, all that." Taking a short step in front of the other members of the party, Alec holds a hand out. "Think I could have it?......would it help if I said please?"
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Simeon stepped forward--hoping to ease the tensions and calm the situation with his bond to living beings. He truly did not desire to fight against a fellow and reasonable sentient.
"Please, sir. I desire no violence here. My name is Simeon--although, I have no surname that I am aware of. I am a healer and a former monk. I ask that you forgive my rather forward and impetuous friends. It is true that we seek the sigils, however, we wish to solve this situation peaceably. Our desire is to keep the undead out of our humble but growing city."
Grayell groaned, planted a palm to his face. He stepped back, looked around as if there had to be someone watching them; laughing. He shook his head and spoke up - directly toward their 'host'.
Alright champ. Can you and I just you know, show them how it's done or something? I mean call me crazy - shadow man lurks in a freaking crypt that houses undead and some damn elves have their ears jammed in their asses because of some oogy boogy relic... well I might be old fashioned but I am going to hazard a guess and say YOU want to kill US.
I mean really. At best you'll set us some impossible task, or ask us some mundane riddle and EVEN IF we succeed, you're going to try and kill us anyways.
So call me a terrible first date, but if we're all done making friends and planning a dinner party, can we just get on with it?
Please?

"Well I just thought I'd give it a try, you know?" Alec says, looking back at Grayell. "I mean, don't you ever get tired of stabbing everything?"
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Grayell looks at Alec sideways with a blank expression.
Ahhhh nope. Not really.

"Figured as much." Cracking his knuckles, Alec sighs. "So, we got a plan? Or just gonna improvise?"

Speaking quietly so the man did not hear her but her companions did, Rue said,
"Plan. We wait to see if he has the sigils and what he wants in exchange for them. We don't need to get all buddy-buddy with him but there's no use in fighting until we know what he wants."
She didn't trust that whatever was in the sarcophogi would stay motionless if they attacked the man, and she didn't much want to face an army of undead if they didn't need to.
the man entered the lit chamber away from the shadows, he brushed away black stands of hair form his ashen face. His face grim and his expression one of irritation.
Enough banter, I am the keeper of one of the sigils if you wish to take it by force then you may attempt, however I am tired of this job, it lacks what I want. I am in the giving enough mood to barter for it.
His red eyes glistened in the light another caustic smile spread across his face, the light in the room revealing the fangs that adorned his mouth.
So, what have you children, seeing as you bicker as such. What will it be? forfeit your lives or perhaps broker a deal and you keep what exscuse of a life you have?
The wolf inside Grayell lunged forward and almost caused him to act, it was instantly enraged by the sight of a vampire. Unending enemies and literal bad blood. He paid it little heed but instead drew his sword across his front, at the ready.
You'd have us release you from your sigil so that you might terrorize some poor town, a village? That is not a deal I will abide by.
Before another one of her impulsive teammates could jump forward to challenge the man to fight, Rue stepped forward and called out to him.
"We are willing to barter for the sigils peacefully. We request you give us the sigils and you leave our town alone. What do you request from us? Name your price, sir, and we can do some negotiating. There is no need to fight... yet," she added quietly.
