"Then I say we chance it and see how far we can get, but play it safe. Stick to the trees and try to get a better vantage point, but leave escape an option.
Agreed?"
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
::Dani checked the village ahead again to see if anyone had come to follow up on the call.
Seeing no one at the moment, she slipped from the brush to skirt around the edge of the village, but remain in the treeline.
No sooner did she move ahead, then another one of the twisted elves stepped from between the houses near the fallen body and quickly rushed to its side while scanning the area around him.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Dionne followed closely, gripping her bow with an arrow stringed up and ready to be shot. Hoping that the trees would give them enough cover to slip by unnoticed.
"I think they may have found their birthday present. They'll be very cautious now, and I'm starting to think, if we could just pick some off from these lookout posts, then retreat and loose them in the forests before swining back around... I'm not so sure though.."
::She is cut off as a cry comes from the man now standing over the dead body.::
"You there! HALT!!"
::Were you to look behind and to the side, the twisted elf is charging towards you while drawing a longsword from his waist. As he closes, you see that the thorns about his brow are not from anything worn, but sprout directly from his skin.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Drawing the string of her bow to her cheek, Dionne let out a sigh as she aimed for his leg. Letting the arrow loose, she hangs the bow across her back and takes out her blades wondering what they're going to do now.
::The arrow didn't quite hit where it was aimed, instead striking the foe in the hip. However it was just as effective in that it caused him to stop his charge.::
"GUARDS!!! IMPU...!!"
::His call is cut short as an arrow sprouts from his throat and he grasps at it as he topples to the ground. Hurried movement and voices can be heard now coming from the direction of the center of the village and the whistle of an arrow can be heard passing nearby.::
"We need to move! NOW!!"
Nudging Dani deeper into the forest, Dionne burst into a run. She wanted to find out whats going on, and what these things were, but not at a cost of her life.
::She hesitated, torn between what she felt was right and self preservation.
And arrow screamed down and grazed her arm as it struck a nearby tree, and that was all she needed to be shaken into action.
She stood and in one smooth motion, drew her bow to loose two quick shots at the outposts in the trees. She didnt bother to wait to see if they hit before turning quickly and following Dionne into the trees, trying to stay low but move fast.
From behind and above arrows rain down like, well, rain as the two Sonari try to dash through the trees. They land all about you in the dirt, trunks of trees, etc...
Sounds of pursuit on foot can be heard as well, along with the booming barks of more dog-like creatures.
Should either look over their shoulder, they would see many of the twisted elves racing after them with swords drawn and ahead of the them a trio of the dog-like things closing the gap.::
Dionne knew that they were in trouble, but she didn't let it get into her head. The more calm she managed to stay, the more rational decision were made, the better chance they had for survival.
Dashing through the trees, she looks over her shoulders to see the three creatures closing in on them. Those halfbreed elves, they might be able to loose, but those things were just too fast.
"They're gaining on us, we need to stop these..dogs!"
::Dani raced ahead, slowly curving her path to take her back towards where they had first found the village and the horses that awaited there. As she moved she tried to vary her position to keep trees between her and her pursuers. It was getting desperate...::
"Trust me.
Find the horses!"
::She calls to Dionne as she slings her bow and draws the sword and axe from her waist and stops. As she stops she calls upon the energy of the earth about her to cloud her presence and in a flash she ducks into the brush and fades from sight.

The dog like things continue to race ahead, having left their handlers behind. As they pass the area where Dani was hiding, she springs from cover with a timed thrust to the throat of one that sends in dying to the ground. At the same time she throws her axe at the next closest one and hits it in the hind leg.
Not pausing to admire her handywork, she begins to race off towards the road, but away from Dionne, hoping to lead the animals away and catch up to her partner later::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Dionne didn't have time to admire her courage, she raced forward, trying to trace back to the road, unsure however, how long she could hold out by the horses to wait for Dani. She had one arrow left, and with her blades she could only do so much versus armoured multiple attackers.
Dashing in between the trees, to not give them an easy shot, Dionne wondered, what Dani had in store for them.
::Dani ran like her life depended on it...mostly because it did. One dog was dead, another wounded enough to take it out of pursuit, but there was still one left. Not to mention the elves following on foot.
The last dog was hot on her heels as she raced for what she hoped would be the waiting horses.
Dionne broke through the trees to find the horses where they left them.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Maybe she did have some luck afterall - the horses were still there, and she was alive for the time being.
Taking cover behind the animals, Dionne lined up her last arrow. She was going to try to hold out, at least for a little while to give her companion a chance to get back.
