::Dionne manages to make it safely to the cover of the trees and bushes without being noticed. From her vantage point she can see the home that she had just left.
Dani is leaning against the opening and glancing out. As she is about to bolt towards you there comes movement down the road as two figures come into view.
They are dressed in what appears to be light armor covered in spikes of various sizes ranging from nails to thin daggers. They must be wearing circlets, as they extend from around the brow as well. Quivers and unstrung bows are on their backs. each has a dagger at his waist and a slightly curved longsword in hand. You would take them for some type of elf, even at this distance, were it not for the mottled green-red skin tone.
From where they stand it is clear they would be able to see anyone leaving the hut now. Dani ducks back further into the hut with a look towards you with wide eyes.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Dionne draws back her bow, and points towards them. Two arrows, two targets, and if luck would allow, they'd be able to get rid of them quietly. She waits for a sign from Dani if she understands, and if she does, Dionne would release an arrow aiming for the nearest one chest, once their in reasonable shot distance.
::Dani nods her understanding and confirms by signalling that she will take the one closest to her.
She readies her bow for their attack as she waits.
You let your arrow fly. While not the best shot, the torso is the largest part of a person and thus the easiest to hit. You get the satisfaction of seeing your fletching sprout from the upper left side of your target, near the shoulder. The elf reels and stumbles back a few steps before falling to the ground.
He is quicky followed by his friend, who falls atop him with an arrow in his throat.
The moment they drop, Dani runs from cover up to a hut nearer the fallen foes and hides once more. Unsure if there might be others coming.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Dionne goes to join up with her, since they ran into trouble a lot faster than she expected, and staying together seemed like a good idea. As she went, Dionne considered their options.
Staying together would mean they'd be less likely to be suprised, but draw more attention and cover less ground for clues, if they'd want to avoid confrontation.
Staying apart would let them have a bit more range, but a lot less likely to be taken by suprise and go down one by one.
::She smiled at the woman she had come here with.::
"You know, you could just call me Dani... I'm pretty sure the miss part is obvious.
And that sounds like a good plan. We can cover each other that way and it doesn't look like we'll have to look to hard to find them. Seemed like they were coming from further in the village."
::Her eyes darted over to the dead bodies with a concerned look before turning them back on Dionne.::
"They...looked like elves...why would we attack each other like this?"
Her fathers words echos in her head, as Dani replies. She was taught to show respect.
With a nod she strings another arrow, seeing as it's not as peaceful as she'd like. She didn't know what was going on, and didn't want to think about - just get straight to the point.
"How do you want to approach? I guess we've got a choice between the the homes or forest for cover, yes?"

::She noted the abrupt change of subject and chalked it up to the quiet, personal nature of her new found companion. Choosing not to press the issue, she moves on with her.::
"Well.
If we stick to the trees we will be hard to see, but at some point we're going to have to come out and cross the huts no matter what if we are going to get to the village center."
::Shrug::
"Might as well just do it now.
But lets do it together, just not TOGETHER. Stick to seperate huts if we can. The last thing we need is a mage to nail us with a fireball or something and take us both down at once."
"Of course. I was merely suggesting staying quite close." Dionne started to really respect her companion. She was wise and patient, yet deadly. She bolted to the next hut, looking out for any potential hostiles.
::She watches Dionne move to the next hut, but once safely in cover she glances once more at the bodies. Still too far away to decern any good detail, it disturbed her greatly that it seemed this had been done by her own kind. Not Sonari, but elven all the same. Perhaps she would find more answers at the center of the village...
With a sigh she turned back to check that Dionne was ok then moved herself. Staying low and with her bow half drawn, she slipped past Dionne to the next hut beyond. Once settled, she motioned for Dionne to go.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Dionne followed her example, once Dani hit the next hut. As far as they wouldn't get impatient, they should have the advantage.
Dionne kept low and quiet, her bow at the ready, in case of trouble. As they got closer, she began to wonder, if just the two of them would be enough...
::Only time would be able to answer Dionne's question. As she came to a halt at the next hut she could begin to see where the village center was starting to form. The huts were becoming slightly bigger and more organized in there placement. A corner of a larger open area can be seen. Probably the central market and gathering area common to most Sonari settlements would be your guess, but with the buildings in the way, it was hard to tell.
Before you signal Dani to come forward, you catch some movement in the gap between two buildings. Another of the strange elves steps out, on a leash it has what you assume was once a dog. Its half again bigger than what it should be and boney plates cover the bow, barrel chest, and along the spine.
As you watch the elf looks up and waves to something high in the trees.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
"What is this?" Dionne had little time to think. She signaled Dani to halt, and attempted to make her way back as fast as she could. They had to think of something else to avoid confrontation, and Dionne wasn't fond of having to deal with that...thing! Would Dionne manage to get back to Dani, she'd report what she has seen.
::Dionne made it back safely to Dani, who was waiting with a confused and anxious look on her face.
She listens carefully to what Dionne describes to her and she bites her lip as she thinks over what she hears.::
"I've never heard of such a beast. What ARE these people?
As to the wave. I am guessing that there are more watchpoints in the trees like the one we passed on the way in here. It sounds like not all of them are as unoccupied as that one was."
With a sigh, Dionne looked to the trees, wondering if they were spotted already. Would that be the case, the pair of them would find themselves in a lot of trouble.
Looking back at her companion, Dionne wondered what those things were. Even with her knowledge of the forests, she never encountered such an animal, if that's what it was.
"Probably magic of some sorts...I'd say we go through the forests, and try to take out those lookouts. The longer we remain unseen the better, or as my mother used to say " The unseen blade, is the deadliest.".."
