Her respect for Dani grew as she watched her take cover in the forest. Switching focus between her and the road, Dionne wouldn't follow untill Dani was safely hidden within the cover of the forest.
Dionne stops mid step, her heart racing slitghly. Only after she got the nod to go ahead, did Dionne remeber to breathe.
Gripping her bow tightly she wished that her skill with the weapon was just a little higher and that she'd spend just that little bit more time with it, because relying on it, made her slitghly uncomfortable.
"I wish they'd be within the range of my blades, not the bow." She whisperes.
::Dionne joins Dani in the cover of the brush. Were she to glance up, she would see the arm of a body hanging over the edge of one of the outposts closer to the center of town.
As they watch, the guard Dionne had seen earlier with the dog-thing comes into view as he continues his route between the buildings.
Dani scans the trees for more signs of occupied outposts before looking to her companion with a questioning look.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
"I'm a bit concerned about them seeing the bodies..." Dionne began in a low voice, but wasn't sure what to do. They couldn't really go back, and it was a bit too late to hide the bodies anyway.
::She let out a soft sigh as she bit her lip in thought. The furhter they went in, the greater the risk they would be discovered and the harder it would be to get out.
Yet she just could not allow herself to leave. These had been her people. She still did not even know if they were alive or not. She could not in good concience leave without knowing at least what had happened to them.
Once she knew at least that much, she would re-evaluate the situation. She was not above leaving to return with a larger force.
So the best she could do, she figured, was to continue to try and get closer, while taking down as many of these twisted elves as possible to leave a window for escape.::
"We can't let him pass. There's no way of knowing his route and where it may take him. We have to take them down together, and as quietly as possible before they alert anyone else."
::A sly smile plays across her lips.::
"Which one do you want?"
::As if on queue the ears on the strange dog-like thing perk out and its head swings in your direction before lowering to sniff at the ground.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Dionne nodded, quickly eyeing up the creature. She didn't trust her shot at all, but didn't have a choice at such a range.
"I'll take the elf. My shot is worse than yours.." She said as she released an arrow, aiming for the upper chest, and then another one, in case the first one missed.
Dionne's arrow finds its mark in the upper chest of her target. He spins from the impact and starts to go down to one knee, not yet dead. Her next shot takes him in the back and he slumps in the dirt, clawing at the ground but unable to cry out due to the punctured lungs.
Dani's arrow hits the dog-thing in the back, but misses the spine. Seeing its master go down and having been attacked itself, it lets out a loud bark before the next arrow catches it in the thick neck.
Cursing, she readies her bow for another shot.
The dog-thing begins to race towards your cover, luckily the shot to the neck seems to have at least silenced it...after its initial outburst.::
Dionne drops the bow and draws her blades, standing in front of Dani. Would the dog make it to them before she drew another arrow, she'd try to stop it with a sweep.
::She raises up a bit to adjust her shot and looses another arrow at its chest, which bounces off the boney plate there...
It continues to close the gap, you can see the slobber mixed with blood dripping from its jaws...
The next arrow catches it high on the foreleg and its stumbles before pushing forward again on its injured leg.
As it nears the two of you, it leaps for Dionne, but its injuries take away the power and speed it would have had and you are able to slash at it with your blades. The body hits you and topples you to the ground, but lays unmoving.::
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.
I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart."
Dionne lets out a shriek, as the creature collapses on top of her, it's blood slowly draining from the body, and out onto her armour. Slitghly grosed out, She tries to lift and push the corpse off her, standing up if she can, looking down on the thing.
"What the HELL is that THING?!" She exclaims in between heavy breaths.
::Dani can't help but step back when the thing comes crashing down on Dionne, but recovers quickly to move in and try to remove the body from atop her companion.::
"I wish I knew.
It seems to be some twisted form of dog, but I have never seen its like before."
::As they speak, a call comes out from the direction of the center of the village.::
"Tariq! Have more of the impure come to find their friends?"
