I am undecided on assassination but am hoping for more input from everyone. Yep, it's basically 'how to kill someone without engaging them.' The problem is, I think a barbarian ramming a big f'in sword through your back works pretty well too.
Endurance = physical durability.
Resilience = ability to remain composed under stress. If you've ever done an advanced survival course, you'll know what I mean
Cool, sounds good to me. Aside from those few skills we agree could go away, I think the list looks good to me. Except for made adding an "Evasion" type skill.

My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the workings of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
Your skill at just not being there when the attack hits...

I just wanted to bring up a topic that hasn't played a big role in character abilities or hardly even had an influence on the threads i have been in so far.
The Pantheon, the many deities this Game has. I really have no concrete wishes so I will leave the thought processing to the staff, lol.
But somehow I believe there should be, I dont really know, influence on magic depending on the god your character worships? Special abilities? Is it worth a talent or is it just an extra you just build into you character story? Can the gods really influence a thread with one of their followers?
That's really all, just noticed nobody was talking about it. I'm sure I#ll be happy with whatever you guys come up with.
Short edit: maybe there could be some sort of affiliation point system with the gods and according to that, maybe you could receive talent points instead of spending acclaim. just a random idea I had.

She started dancin' real slow, like she was puttin' on a show.
Wet sweat was pourin' off her skin, her body made me wanna sin.
Right then my buzz was kickin' in, she had a devil's grin.
She looked me in the eye and said: You give me the urge!
To do a little day drinkin'
A little bit of love makin'
A whole lot of world shakin'
'Cause it's never too late to get low down dirty!
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Low Down Dirty
I would leave that to character flair and the creativity of the GM. I can't say I intend to have any additional points systems in place, but I really admire your creativity. Keep thinking!
Your skill at just not being there when the attack hits...
Acrobatics? Nimblesness? Do we need a dodge skill in athletics? Or is it a combat thing? If we add this as a 'defensive style' skill, then shouldn't there be other like skills. If that happens, do we need attack styles in the same manner? Precision vs berserk and the like? What happens to weapon proficiency?
You know, I don't HATE attack styles and weapon proficiency being two different things. D&D did it first, lol.
STYLES: Duelist Berseker Pragmatist...
... but then these sound like RP options.
I don't mind a dedicated dodge skill, but it sounds like a critical hit thing. If you block or dodge, it comes down to rp. Sure, dodging may be based more in your athletic talent where as blocking has nothing but your weapon talent.
Upon more thought - a lvl 10 mage has magic out the butt. He can seriously take out a town, unchallenged.
So with that in context, then a lvl 10 in a weapon skill SHOULD cover attack, precision, how hard you hit and how well you defend. If you want to dodge, then why the hell not? I imagine the dagger wielder will dodge far more often than block, but all of these things should be wrapped into your preferred weapon style. That's what makes you good with a weapon.
I agree that using your weapon in any way, whether offensive or defensive should just be covered under the one weapon skill. Its too much the other way.
I just picture dodging as being something seperate from weapon skill. People that aren't trained in using a weapon may still be good at getting out of the way. That being said, it could just tie into Athletics or Speed instead of being its own thing as you mentioned
As It seems the skill list is mostly nailed down, I thought I'd put out a little bit of math to see what we are looking at.
We are looking at a scale of 0-10
Points would cost the amount of Acclaim equal to the level you are buying. Level 1 = 1 point, 2 = 2 points, etc...
So going from 0 - 5 would take 15 points of Acclaim
Going from 0 - 10 would cost 55 points.
Given our current award system for an average thread. (granted some will be shorter and some longer and points for those would vary accordingly but we'll go with average...)
It would take about 3 threads to go from 0 - 5. And that devoting all points to one skill.
It would take 11 threads to go from 0 - 10. Again devouting ALL points to only one skill.
Most people would not do that, but it gives us an idea of progression. Yes you could max something out while ignoring other skills, but then you'ld be hampering yourself in other ways...
Something else to think about. How do we address new players?
Option A: Stay at the 25 points (maybe altering a small amount) that are spent as they are now. One point for one level, regardless of level.
Once the character is approved then they switch to the Acclaim method for advancement.
This may be the easiest for new characters to pick up and less rework to be done. New characters that havent earned acclaim yet would be able to covert more easily.
Option B: Change the starting allotment significantly to reflect the change in skills and have begining characters assign their starting skills using the same purchase idea we will be going with for advancement with Acclaim.
GEts the player used to the system right away with no trasition questions once they start getting acclaim.
Means having to go back and recreate all characters, including the new ones with the new system. Course thats going to have to be done on some level anyway...
Course there may be other ways to do it that I'm not thinking of, but wanted to get the ideas out there for discussion.
I agree. Just wanted to put these things out there so we know they are settled on.
My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the workings of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
I dont know if this has been mentioned yet, but how do we go about on multiple attacks for a single player, or multiple defends?
GM NOTE:: Redblade is a known felon and escaped criminal. This can and should effect all interactions with certain people that would be aware of his status. Especially the Sentinels.
