It's funny. I seem to almost always use the term Howdy online, but yet almost never in my personal life. I like the way the word looks, but not quite so much how it sounds.
So I was digging through some old saved emails on an email account I don't use anymore, seeing if there happened to be any pertinent information which needed to be forwarded, and I saw a registration for a roleplaying forum which I found through the AdventureQuest forums back when I was in eighth grade, which was about 2006 or so. I ended up surfing through the site a bit and all the nostalgia hit me. It's long dead now and it hurt a little. I had just gotten my own computer, (my parents got a new one and I got a super sweet hand-me-down running Windows ME! Awesome! I still have the monitor and it's hella heavy.) and I spent all of my free time on that thing, mostly posting away to that forum. It was a blast. I made a lot of great friends, and got to do a lot of writing. I've always liked writing, but I've never been very good at it. Man.. Looking back on the stuff I posted back then was embarrassing. Now I realize most of the folks on there were a bit older than myself at the time, but thankfully they were all very patient with barely-adolescent me.
I'm kind of running off on a tangent here, but I came here to write so who cares right? Reading that stuff made me really miss roleplaying. I used to play Dungeons and Dragon fairly regularly in high school, but most of my group has since moved away and I haven't played in a few years. So I got to surfing the net and I found this place! Just thumbing through the new player guide makes me feel like I might enjoy it, so here I am!
I don't really have an idea for a character just yet.. I think I'm going to peruse some ongoing adventures and get a feel for the general vibe of this place and flesh something out in the next few days. I look forward to chatting with you all!
