Just to give some background on where this is coming from...
Most of you playing now have never encountered someone from the Vanguard Faction. Those of you that have; or those of you that look the the character sheets for Grayell, Kiko, and Kiga; would know that as a reward for being a member they get a hood with special abilities...
Those of us heading up the other factions have been trying to think of similar rewards to give those that join us.
Being the one for the Mage Guild (Noctis Venator) I had an idea to provide some abilities to mages that hit certain ranks in their areas of study to reflect a better and more focused learning. I would ideally like to have one passive ability and one "Once per adventure" ability that would be given at 3rd rank and 5th rank (one each).
Thinking along those lines I was wondering if maybe the same could not be done for all talents. Encouraging folks to delve into talents they may not have considered worth it before.
So here is what I'm asking...
Post your thoughts on the idea here. Both as a Mage Guild only thing, and as a more widespread "everyone" thing. And if you have any suggestions for each talent then post them as well. Magic talents are the main focus, but if we can come up with some for all the others then we can look at the widespread option...
Example/ideas:
Dark Magic -
Passive (3rd): Character can see in all forms of darkness as well as if it were daylight
(5th) Shadow Step - Once per adventure the mage can step into any shadow big enough for him to fit and step out of another shadow of appropriate size within sight
Fire Magic -
immunity to non magical flames?
Water magic -
Ability to breathe under water
Once per adventure can effect ice as he could water
Earth Magic -
Once per adventure can effect plantlife as he could stone and dirt
Endurance -
Once per adventure can shrug off the effects of one wound taken that round.
Granted some talents already have some benefit to them (Agility allowing dual wielding. Brawn allowing better armor) and others may be difficult, if not impossible to come up with ideas for. So the idea of the widespread version may not be possible or needed. But I am open to the idea...
Thoughts?
Suggestions?
Waste of time?
