"Phew!" Zhara breathed out. Then, she turned and ran toward the barn after shouting at Kiga, "There were people inside. See if any is hurt! I'll check the barn."
The young girl ran as fast as her two little legs could carry her toward the barn. Once there, she followed the barking inside trying to find whoever that was in there and hoping against hope that whoever it was was still alive.
(You just said you turn and run to the house... :head spins: lol)
With the Trolls dead, Kiga snatched up his Fryst knife on the way to the house (and no, not forgetting about Singewheel) and approached the now broken and presumably open enough door.
"Hello?"
(Sorry, not so sure what else to do at this point.)
::As Kiga approached the door to the farmhouse, he could see a woman and a small child inside. They were huddled together and only rose to run towards him once they noticed he didn't seem to be worried about being attacked by the trolls.
The woman threw her arms about him.::
"Thank the GODS! We'd be dead if it wasn't for you two. I've never heard of trolls coming this close to town before!"
::Zhara approached the hole in the barn when she noticed a dark shape move within. Before she knew it, the shape emerged from the barn and launched itself across the yard at great speed, revealing itself to be a rather good sized brown dog. At the same time the child ran past her mother and Kiga and out into the yard with arms held wide to the oncoming animal.::
"BILLIE!!!"
::Then before both went down in a rolling heep with the dog licking at the girl's face while she giggled.::
Kiga only rocked onto the balls of his feet. His hands remained on his hips but he smiled in an infectious manner and chuckled as he spoke, the humor brought on by the child's reunion with his pet dog.
"Nah, I'm sure you would have been alright. I just happened by is all."
Kiga ran his hand through his mess of hair and winked at Zhara reassuringly. Seems he was in a good mood at least, outwardly. Truly, he was somewhat confused by what had happened here but as he wasn't in uniform, he wasn't about to be all... grim about things. Finally he took Zhara's hand though and didn't quite shake it (really, he was worried his enthusiasm might rattle her arm loose) but nodded in greeting.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence. However, I don't think three against one was good odds."
Zhara was sure that her cheeks reddened a little at the wink. The heat on her cheeks cooled a little when Kiga didn't shake her hand but merely held it. The girl retreated her hand quickly and turned toward the house.
"Zhara. Likewise. I was chasing a couple of people when I happened upon these monsters trying to tear down the house. The screams were a little too hard to ignore."
The girl turned to Kiga and smiled her best smiled.
"Anyway, I'm sure you have important things you have to do. I think they'll be fine right now," she waved to the people they just saved, "I don't want to keep you from whatever it was that you were on your way to doing."
Zhara waited for the man to exit before making her own. ((Unless Kiga doesn't mind waiting, I think we can wrap this up. I'm a little busy with teaching for the next two weeks.))
((Well then I guess I'll wrap this up! 5 acclaim and 30gp to Zhara and Kiga as players and to myself as GM. Others involved are no longer active, so not worrying about them at the moment. In addition to the above rewards Zhara receives:
Silvered Dagger Small One Handed Weapon Acts just like a normal dagger but with silver added to the blade for added effectiveness against creatures with aversions to the metal. ))
::The farmwife walks up to Zhara with a small bundel in her hand. With a look of gratitude for the lives Zhara helped save today, she places it in the young mage's hands.::
"Thank you for helping us. I saw you broke your dagger trying to save us. I hope you will accept this as a thank you. It was my father's."
::Unwrapping the bundle reveals what at first seems to be a simple dagger, but upon drawing it from its leather sheath you can see the blade is lighter in color from the silver melded with steel.
She turns then to Kiga.::
"I'm sorry I don't have more to give you too, sir. But should you ever need a meal or a dry place to rest, you will always be welcome here."
