::Zhara leapt into the air and saored over the heads of the small trolls. The landing was not as graceful though as control once airborn can be tricky and she stumbled and bumped into the door as she lit upon the ground once more. You can hear the frightened screams of women and children on the other side of the thick wooden door.
The trolls on the porch with you look confused at first before turning and finding you once again. They begin to advance on you. Trapping you now between them and the door with little room to move. Looking past them, you can see what's going on at the Barn in the distance...
The troll had launched itself at Aegil so quickly that it left her little room to respond. Whatever form she had intended to give her shadowy attack was lost in the hurried response as a black mass rose and swatted it from the air and knocking it into one of the others standing in wait, knocking both to the ground. Unfortunatly the third was left free to act and lept towards the mage in the same spinning manner as the first and sturck her in the chest as she too was now down on the ground with the breath knocked from her lungs as the attcking troll loomed over her with drool dripping from its mouth in anticipation of the tasty meal it saw before it.::
The screams on the other the side of the door tugged heavily at Zhara's heart. She reached behind her to try and find the door knob to see if the door is unlock. Before the young mage could do anything, she saw Aegil from afar.
Great, she thought to herself, I don't need more people to rescue. I've already used up quite a bit of magic.
Zhara sighed. She focused all her magical strength to summon up a sharp spike from the ground beneath the troll standing over Aegil as fast as she could. Hoping with all her might that the spike coming up fast enough to do some damage to the troll, Zhara tries to open the door to go inside and see what was going inside this house.
(Delete this if I'm not wanted It says it's open!)
A series of brilliant, buzzing discs came flying through the air, crackling with a blue energy that was the trademark of one of Wistvale's residents. No less than six at once, all thrown within the blink of any eye from one another and all aimed directly at the troll that now menaced Aegil.
Kiga was running too, hands cupped at his side as he'd just unleashed his favorite shuriken. Or maybe second favorite. Or maybe... well geez, he just had so many pretty things.
Anyways, he came running forward with all the speed of something REALLY fast, his game face on and his feet chewing up the ground like a fat kid at Chucky Cheeze's. Seriously, no disrespect to fat kids, but who DOESN'T like pizza?
((Continuing without Aegil, she can catch up if she returns before this ends. And Kiga, you are always welcome.))
::The Troll that was on its feet, looming over Aegil had to have the worst luck of any troll ever as the rocky spire called forth by Zhara rose to pierce its softer underbelly and as it twitched upon the point the whirling blades thrown by Kiga sturck it with varying effect. Those that hit the hard outer shell of the body and limbs bounced away, landing in the dirt or the old wood of the nearby barn. One dangerously close to the prone Aegil.
Others struck the softer flesh hidden behind the protective shell and cut deep, shreading the already dying troll. The weight of the dead troll combined with the force of the blows from the attack caused the spire to teeter before collapsing onto Aegil, pinning her beneath the weight of body and stone. ((And thus writing her out for now, until/unless she returns.))
The remaining two trolls near Aegil rise and begin to advance on what they now see to be an easy meal when Kiga bursts onto the scene and draw their attention away. They roar in defiance at the ninja as they advance. Even the troll in the yard that had been enjoying the taste of fresh farmhand left his grisly meal to acknowledge the presence of the newcomer.
Zhara reaches for the door to try the handle, only to find it locked tight. The screams continue within with shouts of "Get them away!" and "They killed Varn! Oh my gods they killed Varn!" mixed in with the panic.
While Zhara was trying the door, the two trolls take the opportunity to attack the young mage with slashes from hooked claws. One misses in its excitement, and anticipation of a tasty meal, but the others strike rips through the clothes on her back and cut into the soft skin beneath as pain that burns like fire spreads across Zhara's back.::
Without even thinking, Zhara quickly grabbed her dagger and shoved it into the nearest troll before making a mad dash out of the way.
"Gah! That hurts!" She screamed. The young mage was temporarily tempted to use her healing power. However, she needed to conserve whatever was left of her energy to fight these trolls.
"You don't have to come out!" Zhara shouted at the door hoping whoever inside would be able to hear, "But, are you safe? Are there anyone else I need to make sure these monsters won't get to?"
The girl, for a moment, stood still resting, but her eyes never left the troll just in case they decide to try to slice her up again.
Kiga hadn't slowed his advance and was unphazed as the two troll turned and came toward him. He could handle them - but then heard the girl scream as he watched her being attacked by another one of the creatures. He had to deal with that one first.
Turning up the speed some, Kiga unleased his Fryst knife just as he sprung from the ground and with a gust of wind, attempted to vault well over the pair. The knife should strike the nearest Troll and freeze it momentarily, if not kill it outright. The other would wait, he needed the attention of the one threatening the strange girl.
Airborne, Kiga had all the freedom and often, it seemed it seemed like time, of a bird on the wing. Once clear of his attacker though, he could roll over and then come crashing to the ground with enough force and a radial blast of wind that should certainly keep any attacker off for the moment but most certainly get their attention.
Oh, and he loosed the shrill sound of a Kite as well. He was prone to do things like that.
::Kiga's blade struck the troll so quickly that it had not the time to try and block. As soon as even the tip hit the creature an icy frost began to grow out from its center to cover the troll in a thin coat of ice as it froze in place...
Zhara stabbed at one of the trolls before her, but it had a much easier time blocking as it brought up an armor forearm to deflect the blade. There was a metallic snapping sound as the blade hit the hard boney growths and she wasn't sure, but it was possible that the tip had just broken off her dagger...::
"Billie! Billie's in the barn! He couldn't get out! You HAVE to save him!"
::As Kiga vaulted over the trolls near him, the one left unfrozen began to curl up into a ball, and as the Vanguard landed it launched itself in his direction. That was when the blast of wind blew out from around the white haired ninja causing the frozen troll to tip over and sent the rolling troll bouncing off to crash into the barn, shattering the wood and creating a small gap, just big enough for someone to squeeze through.
The troll Zhara had attacked roar its outrage at continuing to be denied a meal and swung a heavy backhand at the woman that knocked her on her back upon the front porch. As it started to close in the boom from Kiga's landing was heard and both it, and the troll still hammering at the door turned their heads as one to see what had caused it, their attention drawn momentarily from what they were doing...::
Zhara mentally cursed as she fell backward. She lifted her dagger and cursed some more.
"I hate trolls." Zhara said exasperatedly.
Using Kiga's diversion, the girl quickly jammed her dagger back in the pouch, and then leapt to a safe distance from the troll pursuing her.
Then, Zhara spread her arms out to her sides with her palms facing upwards. She pointed her fingers towards the ground and then, smiling, quickly flick them upwards to bring up two rather large hovering ball of hard earth. With a heave and all her might, she flung one arm across to send one flying towards the troll nearest her aiming for its head. Zhara then quickly raised her other arm up above her head then down again flinging the other clump of dirt straight down on top of the troll.
"Come on! Die you horrible, gross bastard!"
Zhara didn't have time to hang around. She dashed toward the barn.
The girl was up and was defending herself, so that reduced the amount of things that needed Kiga's immediate attention. The frozen troll would be up any moment now, but there was another at the barn and people screaming that a child was trapped inside. That took priority.
Kiga was quick to move, but needed to dispatch the troll by the door as quickly as possible. He wasn't altogether worried about the child, if they were in the barn, they should be out of reach. If he could kill that troll (still doesn't know they're trolls of course) immediately, he could then turn back on the frozen one and then, the other if the earth mage hadn't killed it. Phew. That seemed like an awful lot that needed doing, right now. How to be quick?
"Stay back!"
He barked the order as his heel dig into the dirt and Kiga spun about with his palm thrust out, then he stepped forward once, then twice, his palms slamming outward in an empty strike, each time. The wind shot from his blows like rounded, incredibly fast missiles, all with the sole purpose of getting that creature off guard. The last attack came when he snapped his Singewheel from his side and flung it from his hand, using the weapon's peculiar ability to deliver a dangerous, flaming attack upon it's target.
It could be enough to kill the creature. It really had to be.
::Zhara managed to slip out from under the looming troll and gathered her focus to call the earth up from beneath her...
Unfortunatly she was standing on the front porch and as the spheres the size of bowling balls rose up, they shattered the wood and sent splinters of all shapes and sizes sailing outward. The first ball hit the troll in the head with a blow that left a mouth full of broken teeth and its jaw hanging down at an uncomfortable angle. The second ball came crashing down from above, and while the hard outer armor was enough to protect its body from most blows, it did little to protect against the heavy weight and the thing buckled beneath it, lying limp on the damaged porch.
As she called out to the barn, there was no answer in return. But the barking of a dog could be heard now through the hole in the barn wall.
The frozen troll laid frozen on the ground...
The troll that was still harrassing the farmhouse door stepped back several paces before leaping into the air and curling up in the now familiar rolling ball attack as it lauched itself at the farmhouse door. The wood gave way with a snap like thunder and the screams from inside grew louder without the barrier there to muffle them...
Kiga's techniques were focused and hit the troll that had crashed into the barn like invisable fists. As it was in the process of trying to get to its feet, they rocked the troll, but did little damage due to the armored plates. It did get the things attention though and as it turned to see the cause of the attack, it was met with a face full of flaming shuriken. It let out a terrifying scream as its body began it ignite and it fell to the ground...::
Kiga was quick to move, but needed to dispatch the troll by the door as quickly as possible. He wasn't altogether worried about the child, if they were in the barn, they should be out of reach.
((My bad. I assumed he meant house door. Updated.))
(I have a question! The troll that broke the door - is that the farmhouse door? Because I thought Zhara squished that one and I just killed the one by the barn. Those two and the frozen one are it, right? If not, here we go...)
Kiga wanted to move fast - heck, he always wanted to move fast. But as he spun about to see the Troll now looming in the farmhouse doorway, he was struck with the realization that he might not close on it before it hurt someone. He could hit it like a cannon ball, but he might hurt someone else as well.
Kiga was very quick at moving and throwing, there was no one in the Wistvale area quite as good at he at those two very things. It was very rare though, that Kiga had to really, truly focus his aim and it just so turns out, that this was one of those very rare moments.
He chose Tenjin for this task, because he knew it to be sharpest among his blades. The stone edge may well just negate the Trolls tough hide. He brought the knife up between both his hands and to his lips and has he focused all his intent on his target, he blew a tiny wisp of wind onto the blade. It was a simple enchantment, but Kiga put great intent into it, his knife would fly straight, fly fast and strike true.
It had to have a weakness. Kiga looked for any sign of it exposed, and chink or joint in it's armor, or any moment where it let down it's guard - and then let Tenjin loose. The blade traveled quicker than imagination, it was naught but a flash of motion in the space between him and the Troll.
((Kiga, there were two trolls by the farmhouse. I took out one. So, there's the one that just broke through the house and the one you froze left.))
Zhara was halfway between the barn and the farmhouse she just left when the troll crashed into the place she just left--the place with all the people hiding inside. Since there was no more dangerous trolls trying to attack the bard, thanks to Kiga, the farmhouse was now a priority--the place she just left.
Great! What a waste of energy! The mage thought to herself as she stopped short and turned around. She had used quite a bit of magic, but what needed to be done needed to be done.
Zhara did not want to send any more flying heaps of dirt for fear of casualties. So, she waited for the Kiga's blade to hit it mark. If the attack failed, then she would act (if not the following attack is upon the remaining frozen troll).
With two arms in the air, the earth mage concentrated what's left of her magical powers on the ground that the troll was on top of. She lowered her fist down to her face like pulling an invisible string to collapse the earth beneath the troll and raising the earth all around it. She pulled her fist down lower to deepen the hole. Finally, she clapped her hands together to fill the hole with the earth that was mounting upward around the hole.
((Zhara has the right of it. The only trolls left were the frozen one and the one on the farmhouse door. I'm also going to be nice and not make Kiga dig for his dagger...lol))
::Kiga's observations let him see that the weak points of these trolls would be the much softer "underbelly" and the joints where the creature has to bend in order to move.
When the thing rises from the remains of the shattered door, it looks about before moving towards the opening. And that is when Kiga sees his chance. Tenjin flies from his hands like the bolt of lightening that is tied to it and the troll drops to the old wooden porch with the dagger sprouting from its neck.
Zhara calls on the power of the earth to envelop the troll that had just started to thaw. It does little to resist as the dagger that had froze it in place had also killed it. As the earth folds around the body, it leaves nothing to show it had been there but the hilt of the dagger sticking up from the turned earth.
The screams coming from inside the house seem further back, as whoever was in there had moved back from the door when it smashed.
