Venom smiled at Kerag and the golem as they tried to communicate with her. This would definitely be interesting. He crossed his arms in front of him, thinking they may be there a while.
It looked from Venom to Kerag, and then back again, the rest of its body unmoving. The merchant shook his head.
I've tried most of that. I don't think it's capable of speech. The label on its neck says Marble, but I'm not sure if that's its name or what it's made of. You may try and find someone who knows about golems, see if they can help you.
Kerag removed his helmet, eye fading back to green, and scratched the back of his head laughing.
"Should have guessed it wouldn't be so easy. I'd ask if you had a lead on such a person, but I'm guessing you've exhausted all your options at this point."
The orc leaned a little closer, reading the label.
"Marble...maybe both? Hmmm what an interesting find."
"The Garrison? I doubt we'd make much progress there if we can't communicate with Marble. I say we take it with us, look for someone who knows about golems. They aren't common Brother, chances are if such a person were to see Marble, they'd approach us instead of the other way around. Makes our job easier no?"
The orc sighed.
"Question is where do we start? It's already getting late."
His looked at the Merchant from the corner of his eye.
I do. Look on the back of the scroll. It has a marking from Highever, the mage city a few days away from here. You might find who created it and either ask him to take it or fix it. I simply haven't had the time to go.
Few days away, eh?... Looks like we're going to need permission from our captain to make that voyage and handle this problem. What do we do with her in the meantime?
"Permission? Stay here if you like Brother, I'll be setting off for Highever soon if not immediately. If everyone else can take vacations from their jobs, I can take a few days off to figure this out."
The orc grinned, then looked back to their Merchant.
"Highever is it? Thank you again."
Kerag examined the back of the scroll, grumbling to himself.
Venom was used to taking orders and obeying the rules as he was raised, but he had changed much since his kin died. He shrugged and smiled back at Kerag.
To Highever it is then Brother. Marble, we're off to an adventure. This should be fun.
Kerag smiled, happy his brother cooperated. Chances were he'd need his help in Highever.
"Very well Brother, come."
The orc started for the door, motioning for Marble to follow them, waving at the merchant as he did so. As an after thought he chuckled, shooting a side glance to Venom.
Marble followed them, a little blankly. She looked back to the merchant once, then looked to Kerag and Venom, as if realizing these were her new masters.
Kerag nodded, saying nothing more of the golem. He didn't know what to think of their sentience. He shot one look back to Marble, making sure they followed them, and started for his shack.
"If you have any business to finish, or want to grab some shut eye, go ahead. We set off at first light tomorrow."
The orc kept walking, looking over his shoulder, grinning.
"You can handle Marble for one night alone yes?"
Kerag did not wait for answer, laughing as he went on his way. Little did Venom know that he intended to visit the Jailhouse before their journey began. Not to ask permission, but rather to tell Margrett what they were up to. He wasn't going to bother with the Commander, knowing what his response would be. He smiled thoughtfully to himself, looking forward to see Margrett again.
He reached the Jailhouse and knocked, patiently waiting.
