Wistvale was winding down for the evening as the dull orange ball in the sky sunk lower into the horizon, vivid reds and purples painted the heavens, and the faintest of breezes cooled Kerag while he walked his daily route around and through Wistvale, glowing red eye always on the look for miscreants and trouble makers. He was unusually enthusiastic tonight, for it was one of his first patrols as an official guard.
A sense of pride intermingled with the new found respect amongst his organization and the good citizens of Wistvale, considering not only the promotion but also his bouts in the Arena and his contribution to saving the town from zombies, amongst several other threats that occurred since he first arrived. He rubbed his chin, smiling ever so slightly, armor clanking while continuing on his way.

Venom is seen not far away walking down the streets of Wistvale. One would not be able to tell if he was patroling or window shopping. He would be seen stopping at shops, talking to people outside and just taking a glance at what was being sold, before helping a few close down for the night. Time passes and Venom walks closer to Kerag and finally notices him. He smiles and extends his hand out to greet him.
Brother Kerag!! How are you doing this fine evening?
Kerag's spirits lifted even higher when he spotted Venom not far from his patrol. Often the orc said nothing to townsfolk, rarely intermingling unless a situation required his intervention. Indeed since his bout in the Arena and the zombie business, he had trouble accomplishing a completely subtle patrol, for a child may ask for an autograph, or receive approving nods and cheers from onlookers going about their business.
Yet being a guard wasn't all popularity and approval. The shadier elements in town despised the overzealous orc, and some people, farmers and shop-keepers alike, were intimidated by him, and did what they could to keep their distance. A snide remark here, a whisper there. An ugly brute served his purpose, but he didn't aspire to make friends and mingle with the people as much as Venom did. Nor could he. Kerag always encouraged it, supposing too that being a pretty boy helped the red-head's relations with the citizens. His glowing eye fixed on his brother and Kerag gave a hearty laugh, shaking his fellow guard's hand.
"Ah Brother Venom! I am well, on a 'stroll' is all. And yourself?"

Venom thought for a second of what to respond back, but didn't have anything exciting happen that day on patrol. He shrugs and says...
Not much really. It's was a pretty slow day today, I must say. Nothing out of the normal I guess. It's good to have days like these from time to time. No fights, no arrests, just a pleasant day to go back home and really rest up.... You seen Tallia today?
Kerag only nodded his head, giving Venom his full attention. In honesty he preferred the chaos so common in Wistvale, but he supposed they were doing their jobs right if the town enjoyed quiet days from time to time. The orc looked up at the mention of the kitten and shook his head, shrugging.
"Not as of recently, probably snuggling with Captain Mikael."
Kerag laughed, nudging his brother with an elbow.
"What about the lass Rue? I can tell you fancy her."
Venom was laughing until Kerag mentioned Rue. His face began to blush at the sound of her name.
Huh?! What are you talking about?... What makes you say that?
Venom looked around for anything interesting that he could probably change the subject. He didn't like the idea of people knowing he had feelings for someone. Although in a certain way the orc was correct, Venom didn't know what to do about those feelings. And then he remembered the talk he had with her by the river. He became serious at the thought of that day.
...Kerag... I will need your assistance soon... There's something Rue needs to do, that she may need our help with. It won't be an easy task, I am sure, but I want to help her. Maybe even Captain Mikael and Tallia can come along as well.
"Don't try to play coy with me Brother. I know you better than you think."
Although he mentioned the young girl to ruffle Venom's 'feathers' so to speak, his eyebrow arched at the mention of a favor she needed. The orc rubbed his chin, pacing back and forth as he thought it over.
"A task requiring the Guard's assistance? Interesting..."
Kerag stopped pacing.
"Aiding ladyfolk with a difficult task huh; now I'm curious..."
Great! I will need to ask the others as well and see if they're willing to help before we set off. It may just be a suicide mission tho, but I'm willing to die for this girl. There's just something about her that I can't quite understand yet.
It's a family issue that she has, but she needs to know what happened to her mother, whom her power-hungry father may just know about. She doesn't even know if her mother still lives or not, but if she is we need to save her. She's already lost her sister to her brother.
"I knew she had family trouble during our conversation at Margrett's party. I thought she came here to get away from those issues, though I know better than most how the past always seems to catches up."
The orc smiled.
"Gives me an opportunity to teach her pops some lessons."
She did, but... her mother's safety is of major concern to her. I know well what her father and brother will be like when we confront them. It won't be easy, especially since they have an army behind them, but we'll have to make a strategic plan to not make it a war and be outnumbered. I will talk to her again soon once we get more help.
Venom then smirked back at Kerag, changing the subject.
Well brother, the night is coming upon us and it's mostly when the bad guys awaken to stay hidden behind it. Hehe. Let's see what this night has to offer... In the meantime, I guess we can start walking the streets and make sure the market is closed.
