Beta took the punch hard, not expecting it, staggering back a step, clutching his far...and then glaring at Celephai. You have made a mistake, Keter bitch. You will regret this.
Growling, he shot up into the air and pointed his spear downward, putting his weight behind it, straight down at high speed towards her.
She'd hit, and it was a solid one, too. Celephai wasn't expecting a full connection, but it was at least encouraging. Then he leaped into the air and began a lethal plunge with his spear. She rolled out of the way just in time to avoid the spear, but the force of the impact pushed her back a few feet, forcing her onto a hand.
"You still won't shut up!"
Cel charged at him, ready to deliver a few choice blows the moment he got within arm's reach.
He took a moment to pry his spear from the ground, letting Celephai get in a few good punches. He took them hard, but didn't react otherwise as he pulled the spear from the ground, the end blazing with golden energy, and made a wide, sweeping stroke horizontally.
Speech is my right. My voice is my authority. It is the voice of Heaven.
Celephai tried to dodge out of the way, but managed to get a light cut about her midsection. It wasn't a particularly good wound, but damn it was painful. The spear was likely seeped in holy power, which was very bad if he got a good strike in. She'd have to get it away from him to make it a fair fight.
"Then I will love hearing you scream!"
She leaped toward him, this time attempting to grab him by the arms while her tentacles reached to disarm him of the spear.
The angel wrestled with her, her eldritch strength grappling with his holy one. He growled and his voice boomed in her face as he realized what she was trying to do. Insolent Keter! Do you know what I did for that spear? I vanquished a thousand demons, imprisoned hundreds of Outsiders, sent a dozen Fae to the Grey Havens, and you have the unmitigated gall to--
She headbutted him and his jaw cracked inward, stunning and silencing him long enough for her to grab the spear from him. He nearly roared as he snapped his jaw into place, his voice becoming slurred. You...you Keter witch...
Celephai backed up a few steps when she pried the spear from his hands. This would make this much easier... except she had no idea how to use a spear, apart from just throwing it at things you wanted dead. She tossed it toward Eli. Now she just had to rip out this angel's tongue, and she'd be set.
"Alright, feather-head, my name is Celephai. If you call me 'Keter' one more time..."
Eli, being tied up, caught the spear's haft in the face, knocking him backwards. The Beta yelled and he charged, his fists burning with holy light, flying faster than they had a right to, a flurry of blows that were directed all over, searching for weaknesses in Celephai's defenses. His arms were a blur of gold and white, finally coming to a stop with a right hook at her face.
Cel's tentacles worked in tandem with her arms, furiously trying to block the incoming assault. She managed to stave of the brunt of his attacks, with the right hook connecting solidly with her face. She staggered back, reeling from the force of the blow, but managed to catch herself before she fell over.
It was time to start taking him apart. She began her own furious barrage of fist and tentacle, determined to dish out tenfold whatever he did.
He couldn't block them all, Celephai outnumbering him by sheer amount of limbs. Her brute force battered his golden armor, denting and mauling it. It seemed it was a little more ceremonial than functional, but perhaps it was that Celephai wasn't a "Euclid" that the Beta had been expecting. He staggered back again, falling to one knee, wiping his mouth of a trickle of blood. Well played, Celephai. You're not what I expected...if I'd known an Outsider was here I'd have brought something else. No matter. You'll be over soon enough.
His wings pumping once, he jolted from his sitting position, rocketing into Celephai, knocking her into the ground and pinning her. One of his hands went to her neck while the other one went back for a mighty, flaming punch...
Celephai sneered at his threats. If he was still talking, she still wasn't hitting hard enough. Of course, then he slammed into her, knocking her breathless. She struggled against his grip for a brief moment before wrapping her tentacles around his biceps, bracing herself against the ground with her arms. A flicker of pure malice came across her face.
She rocked back onto her shoulders, kicking into his chest with all her might.
The kick caught him off guard. He flew off of her, and unable to catch himself in the air with his wings, he plummeted to the ground, hitting hard, knocking the wind of out of him. He slowly got to his feet, panting. Well done. I concede. You've won... He pointed a hand to Eli, who had barely managed to get back on his knees. Eli was jolted upward, as if the chains pulled him up.
Though I have a feeling you will not stop until I leave or am destroyed. So I will deal this Delta's punishment now, rather than in the courts of Heaven.
He sneered as Eli cried out, the chains glowing white-hot, burning away the shirt of his suit. Huge, snow-white, dovelike wings sprouted from his back as his body shone, as if he were being reverted back to his normal form. Eli panicked and pulled against the chains in vain.
No...no! Not this! There was a sickening crack as his wings twisted and deformed, the snow white feathers stained with red blood as they were brutally snapped off, disintegrating to ash, leaving burnt and bloody stumps on his back. The chains began to dissolve, tracing a symbol on his chest. The Beta spoke as if reciting something.
Your sister's blood cries out from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from Heaven. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth. You will bear the Mark of Cain, for you are an exiled son of Heaven. Battered and bleeding, the Beta moved his hand and Eli collapsed, his hair grey and body stunned. Beta looked back to Celephai and braced his legs. If you still wish the defend the Delta's honor, I will defend my own.
Celephai slowly brought herself back to her feet, coughing up blood. She'd held her own so far, but that luck had to run out soon. Of course, as soon as she'd managed to get back on her feet, the Beta began removing Eli's immortality. She watched, impassive, as his wings burned off, joining the ashes at their feet.
"Honor..."
She panted, trying to catch her breath from the first round.
"You think this is about honor?"
Cel gave a dry laugh, which soon became a sinister, echoing cacophony of noise across this barren landscape.
"You really think I'm fighting you to defend him? You don't know much about us at all... Why would I kill you? Please, I'm much more creative than that."
She started walking toward the Beta.
"Somewhere in your endless texts there's a rule that states: 'Do unto others as you would have done to you.' Well, I guess maybe I will have to do unto you, as you have done to Eli over there."
Cel broke into a run, then into a sprint toward Beta, her expression both furious and joyous.
Celephai slammed into the Beta, full of fury and muscle and sound and laughter. She pummeled him to the ground, pinning him down now as she tore into him. His armor did little to stop the blows that dented and punctured it, flaying open his breastplate and savagely destroying his body underneath. The Beta looked up in confusion and horror as he felt his chest collapse into his lungs, piercing him from the inside. After it was over, after Celephai stopped for a moment, he gave a single bloody gurgle and disintegrated into ash, joining his brothers and sisters in the battlefield.
Eli was on his knees, staring at the ground and hugging himself, rocking back and forth a little.
Celephai stood up unsteadily. Her whole body ached from the effort of fighting the extra-planar being. She turned on her heels, walking toward Eli, picking up the spear as she got close to him. There was no honor in this, no greater meaning to any of it. It was violence, pure and simple. That's another thing she liked about her home. It was madness, but it was madness you could trust.
"You're going to need this."
She dropped the spear in front of him. Still unsteady on her feet, she gently pat him on the shoulder.
"I know... I know it's rough... it was for me. It's not too bad being mortal. Not as much flying, but there are other... other... things. I'm going to... to pass out now. Don't cry too much."
When Celephai awoke, it was approaching dusk. She was sitting against a tree, some distance away from the battle site. Near her feet where a lot of the Soul Gate rocks, arranged in a pattern. If she were to stand up, they would spell out: "THANKS." Eli was nowhere to be seen.
