Grumbling to himself, Zane continues to spin the branch, which tends to make for boring RP. I mean, whoosh, there it goes. Oh! And there it goes again! How wonderful!
It's not meant to be fun, it's mean to condition your body. If you'd like to randomly maim things I suppose you wouldn't need to be trained. But if you'd like to live through a sword fight... and I am assuming you do... well then we train. And it will only get harder sunshine.
Grayell had finished making his bed out of boughs. He looked up and shrugged.
Well, lemme see. It's going to be dark in say 2 hours. That would give you enough time to head back to town if you like. I am staying here.
That gives you 2 hours to make yourself somewhere to sleep, find some food and water or to train. We will have fire through the night if we have more firewood.
It is entirely up to you what you decide of course.
"Well, I'm the one who asked for training, so not like I'm going to just try and quit now. I'm not sure if I'll be able to construct a sturdy shelter, but I'll try. As for food, I don't know how to set any traps, so I guess I'll go collect some berries and bring them back here for you to tell me whether they're edible or not..."
He sets off into the woods, and drags back some more downed tree-pieces, making a rather large piles in the campsite. He then goes in search of berries or fruit or some sort of food, while also seeing if there were any tree limbs with leaves or needles still on them that he could use for the starting outline of a shelter
"This is more like an outdoor survival course at this point..."
Zane can spot at least two types of berries in the area, though he cannot identify them. As for wood, well any of the abundance of dead wood he finds would be suitable for a makeshift shelter. He does notice that some of it is very wet or rotten though. The trees in the area also aren't tropical and their leaves are thin.
Returning with the firewood, he spots Grayell lounging back, feet up by the fire.
"I'm tempted to just go eat some roots or grubs or something..."
He then walks back in a grabs some sticks, trying to get as many leaves to come with it as possible, and starts arcing them across each other back in the clearing, making a lattice-work of sorts with leaves to keep out the wind, and a small entrance for him.
"Well, that will have to do... Now to work on food some more..."
He then to the forest again, and spends some time digging around looking for tubers. Failing that he tries and rip some roots up, and take them back to cook some
Zane ran out of light before his stomach gave up and after bumbling about in the dark for some time, he was able to rest by his very crude shelter; gnawing on some muchy roots that tasted like worm crap.
Grayell meanwhile had killed a small animal with a heavy stick and had just finished cooking it on a small spit. He looked to Zane out the corner of his eyes, the healer was sure to be incredibly tired after a rough day. Grayell smiled as he remembered his training, Zane had no idea of just how hard training would become.
But this was his first day. He tore a leg off the animal and then handed the rest to Zane.
I'm not here to teach you to survive life. I am hear to teach you to survive in a fight. But you will need to be hardy. I am not going to force you to rough it, but you will understand how the two are related. You're smart Zane, you have strength of mind. Character and body are next.
Grayell gets up and heads to his shelter, crawling inside.
It's warm tonight, you should sleep fine. Keep that fire going though. I'll see you in the morning.
Zane nods and goes over to the pile of firewood, dragging some closer. He stokes up the fire and then puts in some more wood, before crawling into his shelter
"This should last for a few hours... I'll likely wake when it gets cold, and I can rekindle it from the coals..."
Zane lies down and tries to sleep as well as possible.
