Zane tries to dodge, but slips in the process and falls. On his way down, he tries to take a pot-shot at Grayell, hoping the falling would confuse him. Once he hits the ground, he flips himself over and jumps up, getting back into position
Grayell smiles as he slips but instead backs off and slowly, both hands wrapping about the hilt of his sword, he draws it down his center. His eyes close for a moment and he breathes... waiting.
Zane continues to attack, trying to just slip into the state of natural reaction that he had reached a few times during the training. Attacking, blocking, dodging, and repeating, just trying to get past Grayell's iron defense
Grayell was much harder to hit than a cup of course and was testing not whether Zane could hit him, but to see whether he had the potential to. He'd face lesser enemies with his blade than Grayell and so far, he was doing well. But Grayell had to push him harder, force him to be intuitive. Seamless.
Grayell read the blows, blocked but one to interrupt their flow and used footwork to come up on Zane's side. He swatted him in the small of his blade just enough to sting and then swung the blade around, stopping but a inch from Zane's eyes.
Now comes the hard part. You have to think without thought. Read your opponent by looking at them and simply know their form, what they're going to do. Strike decisively. One blow to kill.
Swordplay does not exist. It is not an art. There is only the will to kill.

Zane tries to deflect Grayell's blows, but he soon realizes that he is hopelessly outmatched. He purposely slides himself backwards, catching himself with one hand, while using the sudden shift to try and get a blow past Grayell's defenses
Grayell glances off Zane's blow and responds with like conviction, the two of them exchanging blows, pushing back and then forth. Grayell shows no emotion and no remorse in his attacks, forcing Zane to defend and then simply preventing any and all attacks that Zane tries.
He swipes wide once as Zane ducks the blow and over-reaches, his side now wide open....
