Daylight broke out as Tallia set out to find some source of food (or someone with a vast supply of it; they had no need for such excess, she forced to tell herself) for breakfast. She was glad to be freely open and outdoors for once. She did her stretches and set out on her search, eager to find something tasty. Her ears perked up at the thought.
Tallia could smell fish being cooked some distance away; perhaps there was a fisherman nearby or something. the forest around her was sparse, but thick enough.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
She headed for the smell, eager to find out where it was coming from and who was cooking. Her senses told her this was someone that had a little experience at cooking. Carefully, she sought to the treetops to throw off any suspicion and stealthily proceeded towards the smell.
Taking to the trees, she was able to cross ground quickly, heading from tree to tree like, well, a cat, until she came to a stream. By the stream was a small tent, and a fire pit with three fish cooking on the spit. There seemed to be no one around.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
Carefully considering the scenario, she checked for signs of life in the surrounding area. Putting her nose to the ground, she detected a few fresh scents. There had been someone... or even more than one... around recently. It seemed too much like a trap, but her forcible stomach seized control of her logic. She approached the site, intending to having a meal to herself today...
No one appeared as she approached. It was empty. There was...the very faint scent of blood, but it seemed far enough away that it could have been a coincidence. The fish were there, sizzling, just about to be burned, looking very enticing....
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
She approached deftly and swiped one of the fish burning amongst the fires. Gobbling it up as quickly as she could, she grabbed another, and decided to leave the rest to the chef. She wasn't greedy, after all. With no further reason to frequent the site, she heads off.
As she left she heard laughing. From the treeline stepped a wolf, its fur red and white, slim but looking very intelligent. It stepped in front of Tallia, looking up at her.
Well then. What do we have here?
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
I did, darling. She stepped forward, over to the fire, and sniffed the remaining fish.
Couldn't help but notice you took this poor man's breakfast. I never was a fan of cooked meat, myself. She turned to look at her, the corner of her wolfish mouth smiling.
She jumped back again at the sound of her voice. It sounded a bit dangerous, as though she had total control of the situation.
"Uh... um... I...I was... a little hungry... t... that's all... I wasn't planning on it... but... it was g... going to burn, and... it... smelled good... I'm... I'm sorry..."
She ran the thought through her head and suddenly stopped cold. The scent of fresh blood slowly seeped into her senses as she slowly turned towards the tent. Peering in, her eyes widened at the sight of the lifeless body it concealed within. Her hands recoiled to face as she drew a sharp gasp.
There was indeed a body in the tent, torn apart messily, most of it gone. Behind her, Liseth laughed.
I caught him while he was in there. No chase. No game. But I was hungry. And now that I have a sweet little treat here, I can have my fun and my lunch. She grinned.
Run.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
Seeing no reason to stay and reason with the wolf-morph her actions, she backed slowly, then broke out into a full sprint as she realized the danger she had suddenly found herself in.
