Due to some conflicts in the rules on site and some inadequacies in our current inventory system, I have revamped what you can and cannot carry. The revised information is below but first, what you need to know:
- Adventure kits are gone. Any kit items that you are currently in possession of, are yours to keep, as individual items. You can carry these per the new rules below.
- Should you decide that the removal of kits impairs your character or has a negative impact on your character, feel free to return these to the store for a full refund. Kits that you have gotten for free are not redeemable.
- The adventure kit section in the store will have (read: working on it next) most items available for purchase. They will be categorized by size and priced individually.
- Some items will be removed from game. You can be reimbursed, should you have these items currently. They can no longer be used.
- Pouches are removed from game. Again, you can have your money back.
Here are the revised details:
In your character info thread (commonly referred to as you character sheet), your first post is your character bio which details your background and talents and your second post is your inventory. The items within your inventory are not just on your person though, it is instead a vault of sorts for you to keep the items and treasures you accrue in your adventuring life.
Be default, whatever your character has equipped in your inventory are the items you have on your person in any adventure, or thread you join. If your character is carrying other items, or different equipment, this should be altered in your inventory or posted at the start of your adventure.
The items your character has equipped are worn and therefore, are immediately available to them. Switching from main weaponry to reserved weaponry can take a moment, of course. Your allowance for equipped gear is as follows:
Other than what your character has equipped, they can carry other 'loose' items. You can consider you character having a pack, or kit, or whichever means of carrying items as you like, but the number of items you can carry is limited to your character's Endurance Talent rating. Each character can carry the following:
(Note, that you cannot carry more small items in place of absent medium items and so on.)
A character's Endurance skill impacts the amount of items that they can carry. A higher Endurance score will allow more items to be carried as follows:
ITEM SIZES.
Small items:
Medium items:
Large items:
Items that cannot be carried as 'loose' and must be equipped:
(Note: Other items available in game and in store may have a size listed on the item.)
USING AN ITEM IN GAME.
Using any item that is not equipped (ie: worn equipment), requires time. Loose items might be carried in a bag, or in a pouch or wherever you like, but are not immediately accessible. Drinking that all important potion in the middle of frenzied combat is simply not possible. Whether the time required to access an item and use it is of critical importance, is entirely dependent on the situation in which it is used and as always, whatever the GM rules.
If your item is reusable, simply declare that you're using the item in your post, considering the time required and role playing accordingly.
If your item is NOT reusable eg: a potion, then you must remove that item from your character inventory upon use. You should make a quick post in your character info thread stating that the item was used and your inventory was updated. All changes to your character info should have such a post in order to make any corrections should there be an error. None of us are perfect of course so whilst you'll be managing your own inventory, staff will be helping make sure things run correctly and efficiently.
INVENTORY WHEN YOU'RE IN MORE THAN ONE ADVENTURE.
In the event your character is participating in more than one adventure, you equipment is of no concern. However, you cannot take the same USABLE items to more than one place at the same time. Doing so means using it in one place removes it from the other and complicates game play. If you would like to carry 3 potions in two different adventures, you must have at least 6 potions in your inventory.
You cannot change your carried items when on an adventure of course, you're stuck with what you set out with unless you come upon a store in that adventure. Items purchased outside that adventure will go to your inventory. If you start a separate adventure, you will of course have access to those new items in that new adventure.
MONEY!
In the world of The Menagerie, gold coin talks. Whilst grinding to make a profit is not a huge part of the game, there are stores where you can buy products, items and services. You can also operate a store to give you some income.
When you purchase something in a store, the store owner will post in your character info thread stating the details of the transaction. You should then alter your inventory accordingly.
If you earn money in your store, you should note that in your thread too.
If you receive money in an adventure, the GM will post in your thread stating what you've earned.
ANY TIME YOU GAIN OR LOSE MONEY, POST AN UPDATE IN YOUR CHARACTER SHEET.
Thanks poppet, for your help.
