It took a full minute before Zhara realized that the guard was walking away with nothing but the knife and maybe a bit of annoyance. The young girl looked from the merchant to Serenity then finally to Alexander Ravenhurst. She poked him with a timid finger,
"Do you think they'll come back?" She asked, "I don't think so, but what do you think? I don't think we're in trouble. Maybe not anymore. I don't know. I just got here. I really don't want to get in trouble so quickly."
Again, Zhara spoke quite fast. It was something she had always done out of nervousness. Her heart was still beating quite heavily. She looked from Serenity to the robed man hoping for some sort of reassurance.
"You're fine, dear, they're not coming back with irons so long as you behave yourself." Serenity said, quite sure of her words.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, all that excitement has made me quite famished."
The Lady had just remembered then that she was heading over to the Sellsword ship for some business, and groaned about it as she looked in the direction of the base.
Oh I'll just do this some other time, that man isn't going to listen to me anyhow...
Now that she was at the harbor, Serenity felt like fish would do just right. Fish and chips even. The lady went on the prowl for such a stand that would serve the staple meal along with a nice a tea.
::Alexander looked down at the offending digit that had proded him as if it were some sort of insect that had found its way onto his person before looking up to the young girl.::
"I do not believe you were in any danger, childe. I also do not think they will find the need to return just yet. Unless you insist on prodding me so again.
I think that I shall continue my exploration of this town elsewhere as well."
::He turns and heads towards a side alley that seems to cut across from the end of the docks to some of the storehouses nearby.
Zhara notices two people in the crowd. They stand out due to their dress as both wear long, pure white cloaks. As they move about, you can see one appears to be wearing metal armor beneath his, while the other seems to have matching robes beneath the cloak. Both are watching Alexander leave and talking to each other. As the dark clad mage rounds the corner of the alley, the two men break off from the crowd to follow.
As Serenity walks away, intent on finding a meal to fill her empty stomach, she is approached by a woman wrapped in a white robe. She looks a bit worried as she steps in front of you to get your attention.::
"Excuse me, but you look like you live here. I'm a bit lost and was hoping you could point me in the right direction."
My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the workings of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
Zhara blinks as she looked to and fro at the backs of Serenity and Alexander. How did she managed to find two polar opposites all in one day. The lady was almost motherly, and the man was the definition of a grumpy old man.
The young girl shrugged and tried to remember why was she was where she was. Then, spotted something new and "shiny". Harrassing people had always been her specialty.
With a smile on her face and some devious idea, Zhara followed the man in the white cloak and metal armor making sure to keep her distance.
Serenity stopped in her tracks as the white robed stranger approached her and asked for directions. She was ready to assist.
"Certainly mi'lady, where is it that you need to go?"
Truthfully, there were still some areas of the new Wistvale Serenity was not familiar with, but the mage hoped she could help out the woman anyhow, even if it meant asking for directions herself.
::As Zhara followed the two men down the alley, it only took a few turns for her to realize two things. They were following Alexander. And they did not want to be seen by him. They paused at every turn and glanced around corners before proceeding only when the path ahead was clear.
The woman smiled at Serenity, clearly grateful for the offered help. She began to slowly take steps that would lead them towards the storehouses that bordered the docks in a way that would force Serenity to follow her should she truely wish to help the woman and to hear her over the bustle of the crowd that was now talking about the incident with the merchant along with their other daily topics.::
"Oh thank you! You are so kind! I've only just arrived here and I'm supposed to meet my cousin. He works in one of these warehouses and I just can't seem to find the right one!"
My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the workings of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
People usually avoid alleys. Zhara loved them. They usually held all the secrets to the city. Exciting things happened in dark alleys away from the everyday eyes. Either that, or the young girl had just read one too many novels.
Zhara was enraptured by the chase. She couldn't help feeling a little of adrenaline rushing through her veins. Just where were Alexander going and why did he have people following him? Curiosity usually kills the cat...or in Zhara's case possibly gets her into a lot of trouble. However, she couldn't help it and continued following the men making a very strong effort to not get noticed.
"Certainly good woman, I'm sure we'll locate it in no time."
And so Serenity went on to help the lady get to a warehouse that probably did not have an ambush waiting. That's the best part about Serenity's day really, helping lost people get to their destinations and not getting ambushed.
::The woman Serenity was following turned down several vaious side alleys, very obviously looking for something. However, she seemed more concerned with the contents of the streets than the buildings that created them.::
"That was a pretty tense looking standoff you were in back there."
::She looks around the corner of another turn and her face lights up with discovery and she reaches for Serenity's wrist as if to pull her along after her...
Zhara watches as the two men continue to follow Alexander until a moment comes where they hurry to hide themselves at the end of an alley. From Zhara's position behind them she can not see what lies in the alley ahead that has caused them to react in such a way.::
My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the workings of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
Zhara blinked as the two men hide themselves. Her instinct was telling her to stay still and possibly just watch. However, the young girl wasn't very smart sometimes.
Crouching low and moving slowly, Zhara inched closer toward the men being as careful as she could to not be noticed. I'll just move until I can see what's going on. She tried to tell herself.
Serenity chuckled, almost nervously, at the mention of the incident that happened not moments ago. She scratched the back of her neck, seeming a bit embarrassed about the matter.
"I see you noticed that. The situation was...hostile, to put it kindly. It was a good thing the Sentinels arrived before I lost my proper manners in public. So to speak."
As they continued their search, Serenity was caught off guard when the woman suddenly reached for her hand and pulled her like a mule to something she spotted.
"Hold on now! There's no need to rush I'm sure what you're looking for isn't going anywhere."
Serenity tugged against her to release herself from the woman's reign before stopping entirely.
"I am not a horse, mi'lady, I can hurry along if you need me too but I don't see the fire."
::The woman's eyes turn to being filled with hate. How she had been able to mask such venom behind the innocent facade, Serenity may never know. As the truth was revealed to her, Serenity could feel something cold and metallic snap about her wrist. Looking down she would see the woman had reached forward with her free hand to clasp a silver bracelet about the wrist she held in her other hand.::
"Oh there will be fire. You will feel it when the flames lick at your heels, Witch!"
::With that she gave another tug to try and pull Serenity into the alley beyond.::
::Zhara's agility got her far when it came to following these men. She was able to slip behind them enough to see the outline of the dark robed man standing in the shadows near the door to one of the storehouses. She could also see a white robed woman at the opposite end of the alley who seemed to be struggling with something just out of view.
It was then that her luck ran out and her lack of skill in being stealthy came to the foreground. As she continued her approach, her boot caught a stone and sent it bouncing forward towards one of the crouched men, hitting him in the foot.
As she watched the man turned and first looked down at the rock before glancing up at her. There was a flash of surprise followed quickly by hatred.::
"It's the other! Attack the Daemon now! I shall take care of the whelp!"
::Drawing a sword from its sheathe beneath his robes, the armored man rose to advance on Zhara.
The other man stood and began to gesture towards the alley as light began to gather and intensify about his whirling hands.::
My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the workings of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
"Er..." The mage smiled nervously and waved timidly, "Hi...umm...what's up? How can I help you gentlemen."
Upon seeing the withdrawn sword, Zhara's smile became a plastered stone on her face, and her feet slowly walked backward prepping herself to quickly turn around and bolt should the man charge at her with the pointy weapon. However, she didn't know if the fight was worth it. So, her hands were at her side ready to make a move.
::Serenity's first attempt to draw upon the power of the earth came with much greater resistance than she was used to. It seemed that it would take much more effort to pull off the same techniques she was used to doing with ease. ((IE increased fatigue for all spells))
As the Lady tried to call upon her magic and found herself hampered, the robed woman tried to swing her about by the arm and stuck her leg out to trip Serenity as she hit the wall of the nearby building.
The man advancing on Zhara gave no response but to swing his sword lazily before him as he closed the distance. Like a batter taking a practice swing before stepping up to the plate.::
"You can join you daemon friends in the everlasting Light of our Lord!"
::With that he took a hurried step closer to Zhara with his sword swinging heavily before him aimed at her throat.::
My first thought was, he lied in every word, That hoary cripple, with malicious eye Askance to watch the workings of his lie On mine, and mouth scarce able to afford Suppression of the glee, that pursed and scored Its edge, at one more victim gained thereby.
