Hex, Age 20...
They say all great adventures start somewhere. For Hex, his adventure started when the Ironleaf clan, east of Takayama, cast him out for his defiance against them, against their rules and their customs. What had he done wrong? Well, he refused to learn the ways of combat by the Ironleaf clan, for their cruelty against the other dryad folk was almost too unbearable. As the Ironleaf wield metal along with their leaves, they use it to torture, murder, and threaten the other tribes. This is the reason Hex left. He questioned their methods of 'negotiation' and 'bribery' because, in reality, it was extortion and torture. The trees with leaves as shiny as metal and scars from past battles mark the areas where the Ironleaf tribe begins.
So, Hex decided that it was time for him to venture off on his own. Being only part dryad, and the other half human, he decided to take a visit the sister tribes around the Far East: Flamebranch, Searoot, Skyseed, and Stonebark.
The Flamebranch tribe is a dryad group almost as savage as the Ironleaf, but rather than cruel ways of hurting their enemies, they were strong brutes that wielded fire magic against their enemies. Although having the potential to destroy the Ironleaf tribe, their lack of intelligence and double edged sword magic cause them their ultimate demise at times. Hailing southeast of Yokaichi, their charred bark and bare branches mark the start of their territory.
The Searoot tribe is one of the more peaceful tribes, as they live in harmony with the sea creatures east of Imaicho. Their magic not only encompasses water, but also embraces healing and recovery, and they have an alliance with the Flamebranch tribe, as their magic helps the recovery of the burnt branches of their dumber kin. Their large, thick roots and swampy homelands are a clear indication of a Searoot tribe colony. Because of their near selfless nature, they have grown a huge dislike for Skyseed's decision to form an alliance with Ironleaf, for their lack of pride was outweighed by their will to survive.
The Skyseed tribe has formed an alliance with the Ironleaf, as to avoid their cruel and demented punishments. Being their neighbors, the tribe is located in the forests northwest of Ochijuku. Although thin and lanky, the Skyseed tribe is comprised of a much weaker tree. Their distinctively colorful flowers and large seeds which fall to the ground slowly, as if as light as a feather. The clan is full of intelligent and limber dryads, whose specialty is trickery and thievery. Although their physical appearance may be thin and weak, the flexibility of their trunks and the abundance of them make a perfect ally for the Ironleaf, as now they have an army against the Flamebranch and, respectively, the Searoot.
Finally, there is the neutral tribe of Stonebark. Notable for their large trunks and longevity, the Stonebark tribe lies north of Naramachi. Their leaves are also large, and their seeds small yet tough, they are friendly to all that visit. Their particular strength is the ability to lift giant boulders to throw at their foes if needed, as their thick branches and trunks allow them to be stronger overall. Although they have an alliance with the Skyseed tribe, they have a large dislike for the Ironleaf's cruelty and methodology, and thus remain neutral towards them. The are all tough and kind, almost like the tree version of a teddy bear.
Hex thought about all of these tribes... And compiled a short list of what each was.
Ironleaf - Metal - Assassins - Martial Prowess
Flamebranch - Fire - Fighters - Weaponry
Searoot - Water - Healers - Healing Magic
Skyseed - Wind - Thieves - Thievery
Stonebark - Earth - Protectors - Brawn
Ironleaf + Skyseed
Skyseed + Stonebark
Stonebark - Ironleaf
Searoot + Flamebranch
Flamebranch - Ironleaf
Searoot - Skyseed
Hex would keep this list in handy as he travelled the Far East in search for a tribe that would accept him... Even from his Ironleaf blood.
His first stop would be to visit the Stonebark tribe, southwest of the Ironleaf tribe. Hopefully he would seek refuge there, as knowing hte Ironleaf, assassins were out to get him and he was in no shape or condition to fight them.
He started off his journey, alone and without any form of defense, wandering his way to the Stonebark tribe in the forests of Naramachi.
