Of Demonkin
[/center][/size][/color]This is an interview by Ramses Rumir, talking to Archaeologist Dr. Marten Faraday, regarding his recent discovery in Faria, Arcadia, and how this may shed some light on the age-old mystery of the origins of Demonkin.
Ramses Rumir: Hello, Dr. Faraday. Firstly, let me thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule for this interview. You’ve become quite the celebrity since you returned from the West.
Dr. Faraday: [Laughs] Yes, it has been quite the surprise. I did not realize there was such a keen interest in my discovery, but it would appear that it has everyone talking.
Ramses: Indeed, it has. So Dr. Faraday. What can you tell us about the Farian Demon Scrolls you found in the caves of Faria? And what do they say in regards to Demonkin and their origins?
Dr. Faraday: Well, Ramses, as we all know, references to demonic beings can be found in cave paintings all over the charted world and in the history books of almost all races; many of these even pre-date the birth of [the Human] race, or so it’s believed. But these refer to pure blood Demons. In comparison, the evidence supporting the existence of Demonkin can only be traced back as far as we [Humans] can trace our own.
Some theorists believe this is because the Gods created Demonkin at the same time as Humans, to act as contrast to one another. But we all very well know that the notion that Demonkin are all evil is preposterous. This is a common misconception that has come about due to their association with their namesake. In fact, [Demonkin] are just as diverse, if not more so, than the rest of us - be that in personalities, appearances, or behaviors.
Then, there are those people that think Demonkin come from another dimension altogether. I have nothing to say on this other than there has been no evidence to support such whimsical beliefs.
Ramses: That’s a bit harsh, isn’t it?
Dr. Faraday: Probably. But I have heard so much crazy speculation over the years that I do not know why we don’t just say Demonkin came from mysterious eggs.
Ramses: Like Hatchlings?
Dr. Faraday: Quite, [Laughs] but I do not want to get into a debate about that either.
Anyway, the vast majority of theorists, in which I include myself, believe that Demonkin are the product of Demon interference somewhere back in the early years of Man. But whether this was a physical joining between Demon and Human, resulting in a Demonkin child, or some form of mental manipulation on Humans, was uncertain.
Unfortunately, even with the writings found in the Farian Demon Scrolls, the ‘How?’ still remains uncertain. Here is a translated passage from the Scrolls that may impart some fresh knowledge on the whole situation:
Ramses: Wow. The passage that shot you to fame. But that isn’t everything in the scrolls, is it?
Dr. Faraday: Sad to say that most of the text was damaged due to the Scrolls’ age, but we haven’t given up hope. There are still a few passages that my team and I are working on deciphering. And there is always the possibility that we shall find new evidence in the future.
The hunt is still on. [Laughs]
