I was not entirely sure I am entitled to post this here but thought it may be discussion worthy.
As (perhaps) the most dedicated healer in the game, I wanted tp mention a couple of concerns for those of us that use medicine or healing magic.
Potions in our store, are very cheap and appear to do everything but raise the dead. As it's very easy to carry some potions (considering people rarely consider damage or having to heal), I am of the opinion it might improve the game a little were we to remove greater potions from play.
It seems very rare that players are injured in any way that questions whether they might survive or not, so I understand this concern may not be relevant to most players.
But as it does make healers far less useful in a teamwork dynamic, I think it would certainly be something worthy of consideration. I am hoping other players agree.
I also would like admin's permission to produce a 'healing magic vs medicine' guide, as many people may consider healing magic to be the cure all and I for one do not see it that way. Both talents should have equal merit and as a user of both, I believe such information would also beneficial to other players.
I agree on the matter myself. There is certainly a distinct difference between the two. It makes the in depth of roleplaying these two skills all the more.
Any question can be answered by opening a book!

As for the potions I've not seen anyone use them, honestly. As you say in this game we aren't in danger of dying within seconds. There is probably no reason to carry them and would definitely make a healing mage or a character with a medicine talent more integral to the game.
But, I know as soon as I say that someone will go out on an adventure get hurt and need healer that has no access to one. I suppose this is where the GM will have to step up and find a believable way to get them a healer.

As a GM I can say I tend to try and take whether a party has a healer (magic or otherwise) or potions into account when I decide how bad to make things get. And maybe I shouldn't, I don't know. (I've also been known to throw in the odd "rescue" every now and then too, see Herb Hunt)
The main concern for me being that it could be difficult timeline wise for most players to RP being injured badly after a story. That being said, I'm not opposed to doing it should I know the player is ok with being hurt and maybe trying it into another interaction where they go to be healed...
As for the prices and availability of potions and their potency? I could agree with the higher ones either going away or possibly jumping in price. Bringing back the dead should be neither easy or cheap and possibly involve a story of its own...
I like the idea of the discussion on the differences of Magic vs nonmagic healing the benefits and drawbacks of each and such. I think it would do alot to flesh it out and make it more fun for the players and make the abilites more useful.
All this being said, the Thorn elves will make having a Magical healer in your party a much more important thing...just sayin'
As a player of a character that's going to focus more on medicine (nature healing) I think it would be great to have something showing the differences between magic and medicine. Can't wait to see it!

I am going to remove greater pots from play and add a line stating you can't combine pots to be all fresh and sparkly. I look forward to your guide, Shen.
