We have plenty of people wanting to be some odd alien hybrid anthro thing and it's been great that everyone wants to RP something unique and is still working within the constraints of the system.
However, some features are hard to ignore and telling people to lose their teeth and so on is not what we're about. Read the third post please.
If you would like to alter points, do it A.S.A.P.
Post in this thread and admin will review. It's a new system and a new talent so keep the learning curve in mind. Read post 3 for final details.
Ok. This looks simple but in effect, it's not so. We would like to prevent the abuse of the system we suffered at the first menagerie (I am guilty of it so no finger pointing from me) and so we have to come to a simple compromise that we think will allow people what they want. The above skill will be removed pronto.
HAVING UNUSUAL ANATOMICAL FEATURES.
Some players enjoy playing odd creatures, creatures with features that might lend them an advantage over regular humanoids, or features that grant them natural armor and/or weaponry. These features must be approved of course and if you would like to run such a character, you must first consider whether your features lend you combat prowess, or non combat advantages. Here's how it works withing our system.
NON COMBAT FEATURES. If your character has anatomy that would indicate they have a natural ability or tendency you must observe the two following rules:
That ability cannot exceed any talent that any other character has access to should they devote the points to it.
That ability be justified by spending points in the appropriate talent. The amount of points you spend in the appropriate talent will regulate just how effective your 'natural ability' is like any other player. In essence, you are just RPing a feature that functions no differently than a human who has invested those same points in that same talent.
COMBAT RELATED FEATURES. Combat related features are trickier because they imply certain advantages that are hard to ignore. They do however also come with their own drawbacks.
[/b]You can never be separated from your natural weapon or armor (you'd hope) and you don't have to go to the trouble of purchasing such items.
Cons: They can and will restrict your ability to use other equipment and you won't get the benefit of better loot.[/ul]
If you choose to go with these types of features such as horns, claws, fangs and so on that have combat applications, then you must follow these rules:
You must have points invested in the equipment talent that best represents your feature. Claws would be dual wielding and possibly daggers, natural armor would be dependent on how tough that armor is. Your ability with your natural features will be decided by the appropriate talent.
You features must be equipped. If you want to bite everyone you come across, no helm for you. If you'd like to rip everyone to shreds with massive claws, no gloves.
Having natural armor will impair your ability to wear other armor so we suggest you specialize. If your natural armor is akin to light armor, you will only be allowed to wear medium on top of it. The adverse is also true. Natural armor equivalent to plate will only allow clothing for modesty's sake. Adding additional armor effectively would also require points spent in that armor class as well.
Your application response will define the particulars of your features. Keep in mind they are permanent. Features that are 'not interfering with armor or weaponry' but are still intended to be used as such will have gear restrictions all the same.
All such features will be considered on a case-by-case basis. It is our endeavor to not only balance the game and characters, but to also ensure that you get to play the character you want, how you want within our simple system. We will make every effort to have your application approved.
If you have natural medium armor, the best you can wear on it is light armor. But again, if you do that you're wearing two forms of armor in essence and to be your best, you'd need 5 points in both. Consider this carefully.
This has been updated in talent info. If you would like to change your character, please do so ASAP with your queries here. You do have to be approved.
I would like to split up my 4 in medium armor into 3 in anatomy and 1 in offensive magic (metal) and divide up kinship and put one in ingenuity and one in offensive magic (fire)
Well you martial prowess would indicate how effective it is but you have to mention it's usage in your info of course. It may also impair your ability to wear pants lol.
