This thread is for people that are looking for an adventure to go on or some other thing to do. With the Chatbox being down for the moment I just thought I'd throw this thread out there as an easy way for players to reach out to GMs or for GMs to reach out for players.
I didn't realize the cbox was down. I always browse the net on Chrome and for some odd reason it never works on there so when I want to chat with you guys I switch to Firefox.
I'm settled in the adventure I'm running and am in with you all. I never like doing more than I think I can keep up with.
Though I like how my adventure is going so far. Serenity wasn't supposed to be with you all long to begin with so I'm actually improvising a bit, which is always fun for me.
I'm enjoying that thread as well. And I usually end up improvising most of the stuff I do as I'm used to playing with people that like to throw a monkey wrench into the works lol. So Now i just think of a basic idea and maybe some scenes I'd like to see happen and go from there. The stuff Tauer and Orp are doing right now has had multiple ways it could have gone but one main path that I hoped it would go. Now that its at the point it is I feel its going to play out how i wanted. Which usually means its going to get monkeywrenched lol.
Mainly just put this up here for us once our threads wind down and for people like Alec and whomever else wanders by that have shown up some but arent involved with anything. Don't want them to feel left out and that they have an easy way to get something going for their PC if they wanted it.
FYI You don't have to wait for a GM to start a thread. If there is something that your character would want to do or investigate, feel free to start a thread and a GM could always come along to pick it up. That way we are also exploring your character's interests and backstory instead of throwing new things at you and hoping its something that fits the character.
Also as a side note, if you wish to delve into your character's backstory and share it with the rest of us there are multiple ways to do that.
It can be in your home thread, this is considered SOLO RP unless you openly invite other players to roleplay there. Or character interaction in an adventure.
You can start your character's past as a Journal, flash backs, or your character verbally telling someone.
Backstory is a key element to most people for their characters, sometimes it is what defines your character completely. We encourage players to develop their character as much as they can so that the character is not some "identity" or "thing".
Flush it out, make it more immersible for you, and others.
Correct. While backstory elements can show up in regular threads, (such as a person from your character's past), such elements should be kept to "current" events. (IE AFTER your character arrives in town). Your home thread, as mentioned, would be the place for things that happened before your characters arrival.
Most of you probably do not know me. I see a lot of new names and faces. I came in last summer. I think. While life has kept me busy outside the website, very busy in fact. I enjoy coming here and writing.
There is nothing in the rules that states you must have a game master for an adventure. Solo roleplay is very much encouraged here. I don't think I've ever written with a GM and I have just as much fun. My two cents.
Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.
I will be looking to run some adventures soon enough. Fair warning, I'm not the most lenient person mind you. If you're ok with mistakes having serious consequences, I look forward to seeing what you've got.
I also think I speak for most GMs in saying that multiple posts in a round by a character is ok if there is no action going on and its purely to carry on a conversation with other members of the party. (Introductions and such)
Combat or other such action is when we mainly worry about posts per round.
I do believe that is written in the system somewhere, though you'll notice Gray has taken a couple of posts each turn in Darkness as he is working with Kiga and they are combining powers. It's like math, the equation and then the result
I might be the worst offender here. I am used to writing with just one person and waiting for them to reply. It feels wrong to start a story with someone or someones and then not give them a chance to respond before going past them.
So, when I came here it was really hard for me to adapt to the idea that people will post when they wish or post more than once and so on. It still feels wrong to me though I've gotten used to it here. Still, I'll probably always try to encourage players to post in some type of order. One reason why I don't think I make a very good GM.
