She simply couldn't believe it; it certainly was worth the sight. Bringing her hands to her mouth, she just couldn't believe what she was seeing was Wistvale... all the people, all the energy... it felt so much more real to see it all at once... Turning to Kiga, she bounced excitedly.
"This... this is... amazing...! I... I love it... I-I'm sure... you've seen it... plenty of times, though... but... but, I'm glad... you've shown me this..."
Just then, she remembered she had forgotten something quite important... her face reddening once more, she looked at him embarrassingly.
"I... I... I'm sorry... I... I forgot to... introduce myself... I'm so... terrible at that..."
Performing a polite bow with her arms in front, she looked at the elf guiltily.
"M-my name is... Tallia... Tallia Felestine... um... I... I work with the Wistvale Guard..."
She scratched at the back of her head. Way to make things awkward...
Kiga smiled, completely entranced by her cute mannerisms, but he felt no more comfortable than she seemed to be. He bowed as well in return.
Tallia... that's very... uh...
My name is Kiga. I.... I.. just keep an eye on... things. And people. I... umm... I have seen you around....
He was sweating profusely now, he had seen her before. She stood out in a crowd after all and he had been on patrol that one day... but spent a few minutes simply perched, watching her before she walked out of view.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
She stopped for a moment, looking back to the town with a melancholy look. It hadn't been the first time she had to hear a name like that... Before her thoughts wandered too profoundly into the past, she turned to Kiga with a smile and a nod.
"It... it's a nice... name..."
She stepped a bit closer to him.
"You... you say you... watch things... Is there... any reason that... y... you wanted to... talk to me...?"
Her voice became lower, as though he had made a terrible mistake.
"You... are you..."
She stopped herself from saying any more. It would be to her disadvantage if she exposed him (if that was the case) now. Many times had she been in this situation... she didn't want to chance any kind of approaches like this anymore... The only thing she could do for now was keep an eye on him, and observe the observer...
"Ah... I... it's nothing... I... I just... k-kinda feel weird... b...being watched and all... b...but... t-to clarify... you aren't... y...y...you aren't... some k-kinda...p-p-p-pervert... are you...!?"
Her face grew a bright red as she pointed an accusing finger at the elf, shaking. This could very well be the case, rather than what her initial assumption was...
Kiga seemed a little confused at just what she was implying and when she finally spat it out he damn near fell off the roof. He too went bright red and stepped back, his waving his hands emphatically in denial of her insinuation.
No! Oh no! Nothing like THAT!!!
He panicked a little and bumped backwards into a chimney, then fell on his rear with a yelp. He sat there then and sighed, his hands on his head and him staring at the roof between his legs. He mumbled when he got the sense to speak again.
I just... watch everyone... you know? But you... you're um.... like really pretty.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
The comment caught Tallia far off-guard. Her hands placed themselves over her red hot face, possibly to feel how hot it was actually getting. Despite the overwhelmingly polite gesture, she still had to remain cautious.
"A... ah... w-w-well... um... T-t-thanks..."
She grew quiet for a minute, trying to take her mind off of those things and concentrate on what he was doing here. Wagging a finger at him an additional time, she straighten up the best she could to face him (which is to say, not very well).
"B... but.... what you just said... y-you... watch everyone... w... what... for...?"
Kiga looked up at her and swallowed hard then. Could he explain this to someone? Would she understand? He sighed, then looked down, determined to suck it up and speak.Which is to say, he mostly mumbled it out.
I... I have to be useful. Like a contract. I have to earn my.... place.
So Grayell, he lets me patrol. And in return.... this is home. I can live here. I watch people, I learn things.... sometimes heplful things.
And he... he looks after me.
His hands pressed to his face, that didn't make any sense. She couldn't understand him, surely.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
Well, that... certainly cleared things up rather quickly. She kinda felt bad about pressuring him to explain himself, but it certainly needed to be clarified. After all, someone's occupation that includes "watching people" could very well mean anything. She let out a sigh of relief, and slowly brought down her finger.
"O... oh... well... that... makes sense, I guess... I... I kind of understand... I'm... a bit in... the same position... Um... s-sorry... that I thought you were a... p-p-p...pervert...."
She couldn't help but blush as she blurted out the word.
"I... I mean... you... you seem really... n... nice... and..."
She sighed. There wasn't much about him to put into suspicion if he was working with Grayell. After all, he was trustworthy himself, right...? It didn't make it any more easier to explain to him, though...
"I... just have to be...cautious... that's all... I-I'm still... new here... so, I don't exactly... know people, and... I..."
She lowered her voice, and closed in on Kiga, about an inch away from his face.
Kiga's eyes widens to almost peculiar dimensions when she moves that close. He was awestruck, her so very close to him... insanely close. Her breath smelled sweet and her eyes were just so... insanely blue. He swallowed and swallowed hard, completely stunned.
But he had to say something. He didn't think this would come about so quickly. Surely... it couldn't hurt right?
He reached and pulled out a reed tube from his waist. It was marked with several glyhps of eastern origin and Tallia might in fact recognize it. It was the common form of a contract. He handed it to her, blushing profusely, his hands almost trembling.
I.... I know....
... open it.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
Almost immediately, all of her suspicions began to fall back into place. She looked at the reed, then back to Kiga, before settling on the reed. She opened it up slowly, not expecting to see what she had thought had been put behind her after all these years...
"This... this is..."
She was just stuck seeing it in front of her... But, the question was... why did he have it...?
Kiga rubbed his face. He tried to smile and it failed miserably. How to explain this?
It's.... the contract. On you.
Kiga fell back then, onto his back and covered his face. She was gonna kill him. He wasn't going to kill her though.
I... found out about it. I see lot's of them. And I found out... your name. It was for here... in Wistvale. When I read it, I knew... so I made sure.
And then I bought it. I'm.... supposed to kill you.
He rolled off his back, slowly to one side and dusted his pants off, sighing and looking away from her. He walked to the edge of the roof again and closed his eyes. Suck it up Kiga. He found a hint of professionalism now that he could not see her and it allowed him to blurt it out.
I am the sole possessor of that contract. I.... made sure. They want word when it's done. Sooner or later, they will catch on... and then they'll want me dead too.
I'm not gonna let that happen.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
If there was any hint of an emotion on her face, it was certainly gone now. They seem to have taken different approaches on finding her... At least she knew to stay alert at all times... This was never going to end, it seems... She looked towards Kiga. It didn't seem like he understood the consequences of what was to come...
"You... you do know... what you've done... right...?"
Her voice gave off a very monotonous feel, as though her body was that of a stone. She was right to suspect him after all...
"You... you've already killed us... killed us both..."
Tallia stared at the elf, silent for a moment, her eyes as cold as ice.
"Do you... you think you can handle them...? You think... you can just... "play the hero"...? You don't even... understand..."
Her voice began to rise, bits of sorrow and anger polluting her words as she struggled to speak.
"Is this... what you truly wanted...? Is this... why you really followed me...? Is this why tried to get me to... to... to like you...?"
She gritted her teeth. Her eyes fell to the ground before closing.
"...ばか...このばか...!"
She whimpered softly as she expressed her anger, tears filling in her eyes.
Her knees became weak, and they fell to the floor, unable to hold the heavy emotions she was experiencing. Again, she looked at Kiga, her eyes watery, and with the utmost sorrowful look.
"E...even then... I... I will not... not be saved... not be saved from this... fate... I... it doesn't... doesn't make a... d... difference... Y... you act... act very... v... valiantly... b-but... it means... means nothing... Y... you've just... thrown your life away... that's all... J-just like... just like... the others... I... I don't want this... I... I don't want... anyone else... to...to... d-d... die..."
Wiping her tears away, she picked herself up and approached Kiga. Wrapping her arms around his waist, she buried her face into the back of his shoulders.
"I... I'm... I'm sorry... I'm really...s...sorry... I'm sorry... for whatever I did....w-whatever I did...to... to make you... l-l-l....like me..."
Kiga's shock was immediate, she was crying, a complete wreck and now; she'd just grabbed him and was close... really close. He... couldn't get his head around that... there was so much to process.
His head spun and he whistled, a confused warble. But he lifted his arms and spun then and he faced her; his arms coming around ger rather nervously...
He whispered.
You... know what?
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
Tallia was a bit startled by his sudden movement, but nonetheless remained where she was. She sniffled sharply, trying to keep any more tears from falling. Still completely crestfallen over this sudden turn of events, she did not lift her head to reply.
