Jonah's mask slipped from his hands as the horror of what he was seeing crept through his body, gluing him to the spot. The sound of the children's cries, the pleas for help, pulled the tribesman in further.
Kids?! Jonah tried to call out. Wade? Are we too late?

Rue stumbled backward as pure fear shot through her body at the site of her father and his rage. As she prepared to fight him, to defend herself and her companions from the horrible thing before them, she studied the other images protruding from the fog. She began to realize that this could not be real, it had to simply be an image of some sort. She lowered her bow, but she could not bring herself to mak any further movements or even speak. She remained frozen and silent where she was standing, unable to do anything but observe the projection before her with revulsion.
Kiga remained calm as the fog swirled about them and given the insubstantial nature of the beast-wolf-thing, he approached the others in the group. He didn't look impressed - in any capacity, and instead turned to face the creature, hands coming together, two fingers extended on both hands, the right hand clasping the fingers of the left.
His feet came together and he nodded, eyes closing - and wind suddenly whipped about him and the group in an effort to clear the dreaded fog.
The fog's nightmare shoggoth swelled with each hero's fear feeding it further, ready to absorb Celephai and welcome the haunted Venom into it's embrace when Margrett and Kiga figured out the deception. Thirteen nodded his furry little head, still hissing at the creature. The Ninja's wind magic cast away the fog and with it, the nightmare monster howled it's frustrations and dissipated as if it never existed at all.
"Tricks of the nightmare world and nothing more. They feed on your fear, on your darkest thoughts and make them a semi-reality. If the ninja can keep the fog a good distance from us, it won't be a problem. Now let us make haste! The pumpkin patch is near."
Thirteen pointed a paw in the patch's direction. From behind the trees emanated a bright orange glow.
Celephai was... unhappy about the illusion. It had seemed so real, apart from the absence of it's usual stench. She'll have to make a note to examine her enemies more closely.
"Fah, like the Mists of Sarnath it deceives! If all the witch has is illusions, then her death shall be swift. Let us make haste to locate her!"
Cel turned to Margrett, waiting for the ever-capable guard captain to lead the way.
Kiga's hand pulled to his hips and his feet slid apart in a deliberate fashion, his hands then winding forward, turning and completing the gestures. He took a moment before he seemed to relax to his normal... stiff self and then looked at the group with an almost confused look.
He had done nothing other than what had to be done... and they thanked him? That was unsual. He didn't work for grattitude. He didn't know what to do...
Ah.... you're welcome?
There was a hint of personality in those words but he shook his head and continued to walk through the fog, his footfalls making no noise whatsoever.
Venom snapped out of the paralyzed state he had been in. They remained alive. Was that a glimps of what death awaited him? He did not say a word but calmly picked up his sword and looked over to the others, making sure they were okay.
Thirteen vocalized his impatience, nudging the band of heroes forward towards the source of the glowing orange light. As they approached, little chanting voices cut through the night, getting louder the closer they came to grove of trees in the way of the pumpkin patch. Once they cleared the trees obscuring their view, they saw a strange gathering.
The kids from the party, dressed as their favorite heroes, chanted in a circle around a pumpkin headed scarecrow.
The Horseman rides. The Horseman rides. The Horseman rides again!
The kids chanted over and over. Thirteen shivered on Margrett's shoulder, looking at everyone, clearly panicked.
We must hurry! They're bringing Nuala's master into our world as we speak! When the witching hour arrives, he will cross the threshold into our domain!
Venom was ready to dash forward towards the children and get them back, but he stopped before he did and looked over to Marg. It was no time to be charging into things and making them worse.
