She glanced at the moon above as they made their way through the cavern. It certainly was beautiful, and she was captivated by it, but had not a minute to spare occupying herself... wait, the moon...? Had it really managed to get that late...? She must have lost track of time...
"Alright, how would we go about... accomplishing that...?"
Joran checked a wall, grabbing onto it experimentally. His hands were much, much larger than they should have been. I Think I Can. Climb Next To Me If You Can.
He took a step upward and started to slowly climb up the cave wall.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
She nodded, placing herself close and stepping off of the closest rock to grab the next one. She was a bit more nimble than Joran when it came to climbing, but she made sure to pace herself alongside him.
Joran took it slowly, hand over hand, grabbing onto the rock wall and ascending. Just...A Small Distance. Tallia heard, at the edge of her hearing, splashing and yelling coming from the tunnel. Joran stopped, and heard it too.
Run...Hurry!
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
She made it out of the hole into the night sky, and looked back down to see Joran nearly there, going slowly. The cultists had just now entered the cavern, and a few of them pointed up at them, gesturing behind them. She could see a few of them carrying bows, starting to ready them....
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
Joran grunted a little, one of the first sounds of exertion she'd heard from him. She felt a large cool hand clasp her leg. Joran pulled himself up with his feet. An arrow bounced off the lip of the hole next to Tallia.
Now, Child....We Are Running Out Of Time!
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
Putting forth all of her strength and effort, she pulled herself upward along with Joran to the best of her abilities. She could only hope it would be enough....
She pulled up, giving Joran the leg up he needed to pull himself up. He grabbed onto the ground outside the hole, starting to pull up, groaning, hefting his bulk. Finally, he was able to put one foot on the ground and push himself out, landing in a crouch outside. He stopped a minute to rest, and then stood, a small smile spreading across his lips.
Then there was a sickening organic sound and Joran grunted, falling forward a bit. Tallia could see the arrow sticking out of his back. He took a few steps, wobbly, and fell to one knee, holding his side.
Tallia "There are some things... that we all can't escape from..."
Before any more damage could be incurred, she rolled under him and placed his arm over her shoulder. With what remaining strength she had left, she moved him away from the hole, and safely out of sight. Luckily, the wound was not deep, and not much blood had been spilled from it.
"S... stay right here... I'll be right back."
With that, she made her way to a tree, slashing off a few leaves with a quick draw of her sword. Gathering a few, she made her way back to Joran.
"This... is going to hurt a bit..."
She gripped the arrow, and yanked as hard as she could in the opposite direction. As she did so, she could not stop herself from letting slip a "sorry" every two seconds. With the arrow clean out, she placed the leaves over the wound, and then unraveled her scarf from her neck, wrapping it around Joran's torso to keep the leaves in place. Tying it tightly, she hoped it would help stop the profuse bleeding the arrow was likely to cause.
"There... that should hopefully be a good enough treatment until we can get you some proper medical care... now, we have to move; I'm sure they'll be after us. And, there's no way we can fend for ourselves in this condition."
She looked up at the moon again. She wanted to get caught in its embrace, but she again reminded herself this wasn't the time...
"At least we'll have the advantage... it's rather dark outside, so without flame, it's rather impossible for them to see us if we keep moving..."
