It was late, and they had already exhausted themselves today, but nevertheless, Tallia and her mother had to carry out this mission. Hopping from rooftop to rooftop, he came in clear view. It was another spy, leaking secrets to the public that the company that commissioned them saw as a deciding factor in the way they'd continued to hold power. The situation came up so often that Tallia had simplified it down to a formula, forgoing names or anything else, and neglected to mention anything else about the mission. Suddenly, her mother called to her.
"Let's stop here for a moment... It will be a while before he is alone, so we shall use this time to rest."
Landing on the last building they sprung to, they caught their breaths. Both of them donned black cloaks, concealing a majority of their figures. Hidden beneath them were dangerous beauties, hiding many unique weapons, ideal for their missions. The only thing visible was their striking eyes, able to view the dark clear as day. Simultaneously, they lowered their bodies to sit, weary of today's activities. Tallia's mother let out a sigh as she turned to face her daughter.
"Tallia... do you ever dream of being free? Not like the way we are now, but... free of such an absurd obligation... free of such pain and longing... just... free from it all...?"
She paused, waiting for her daughter's response, but it never came, as usual.
"...that's OK, honey. I've seen it in your eyes... I know your feelings... It hurts me just as much as it hurts you..."
Grabbing at her shoulders, she continued.
"...but, understand that this was the only way to ensure that you would live... Anything else, and... I would have lost you forever... I... I couldn't handle that..."
She turned to face the sky.
"...regardless, I... didn't want this for you, either... Just like you, I was forced into it. It was hard; I never envisioned myself as a killer. I'm sure you didn't either... but, one day, we'll be free from these chains of ours. I will seek to make that happen. We will just have to have faith to carry on..."
Looking over to their target, she saw that his associates were dispersing.
"Come, Tallia... let's finish this and turn in for tonight."
Rising from the ground, Tallia followed her mother silently as they made their way towards the unfortunate target...
...
Tallia awoke a second later, resting against a tree. She wished she was still here to be with her... Stretching, she slowly remembered why she was out. Deciding that she needed some money, she took up a request from the Tavern. It was about a plant... a plant with strong magical properties. Luckily, she had studied enough about the stuff to tell just which one they needed. It had already been specified and spelled out for her, but regardless, she knew exactly what to look for. She groggily got to her feet to resume her search. The requester had given a number of days for it to be retrieved, but she would probably need only one to perform the task. Looking around for any changes in environment (one could never be too careful), she set forth on her quest for the mystical flower...
