Kerag rushed to Grayell's side, shooting Margrett a worried look. He was surprised how the battle concluded and shook his head, examining the Commander's wounds.
"I know I can't dissuade you, but you aren't in any shape to go. But do what you must Commander."
He knew Grayell wasn't happy with him, so he said no more, his features heavy with concern.
Alec [M:118:6:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=412&page=1#1242]"I see," said the blind man to the deaf lady.[0:Wandering the stacks.][1:Present and accounted for.]
"Against an enemy that - with any weapon at hand - could not have been defeated, let alone killed," Alec says, having watched the brutal fight with something nearing awe, "I'd say you won. I mean, you're not dead. So. There's that." Standing, he dusts off his pants, and looks to Gray. "And I'm no doctor, but I've been in more than my fair share of ass-kickings. You're not fit to go anywhere."
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Grayell stumbled forward, pain was screaming into his head from all over his body.... and yet the sole driving pain was in his heart. Renquist had torn it loose, there was no way Grayell had won this fight.
He stepped away from them, one hand on his side and the other simply waving them off. He didn't want to be this. Defeat was one thing. Physical injury was ok. But right now, he was broken... and had no one to turn to. He felt beaten, empty and alone.
He cleared his throat, tried to speak. His larynx was bruised, damn near crushed. His cheek was busted, bone shattered and his jaw ached. His voice was nothing like they knew it to be and it had no strength left. He shook his head.
No. I'll be... fine. Just need some time.
Grayell shuffled off toward the council building. His home was outside the gate and well, he wasn't sure that was the best idea. At least here he should be safe. Time to heal.
Grayell fought a growing darkness and after bouncing off too many objects and fighting an urge to simply sleep, he made it in the door of the council building. He took a step inside... and then fell to the floor.
His mind went black as unconsciousness took him, his body to torn to fight anymore. A familiar face waited for him there and whilst he would have no memory of this dream... or much of the fight prior... it gave him some peace.
There he would rest for two days, body splayed on the cold stone floor.

Walking to Marg, Alec cocks his head the direction Gray walked off in. "You strong? Because I can't move him by myself. Come on."

This'll be the second time he's nearly gotten killed. She got to the council building and stopped at the door, looking at the blood trail.
Why do you think he stopped here instead of going to...you know...a doctor?

"You ever been in a fight like that?" Alec asks, brushing some hair out of his face. "You're hardly in the right mind to do anything but get somewhere safe after a beating like that." Laughing, he pushes open the door. "Hell, you're hardly in the right mind for that. You just kinda hope it's a safe place."

Can't say I've ever been on the losing end of a fight. She walked in, looking at his body and tutting to herself.
Where should we take him?

"Most of the bones in my face broken, both arms fractured multiple times, 3 ribs shattered the rest cracked, left femur fractured," Alec recites, toneless. "It's not fun." Shaking his head, he looks at Gray on the floor. "My place is about to fall down around my ears, and I have no idea where his house is." Rubbing his chin, he turns his head slowly, very slowly, to look at Marg. "You know," he begins, "the jail is pretty spacious."

Fine. We can put him in one of the cells. Tie the door open so he doesn't freak out. She picked up his torso and jerked her head at Alec.
Let's get him there. Get his feet.

Taking his feet, Alec shakes his head. "I don't think a cell is a very good idea. At all. Open or not." Following Marg's lead, they start towards the jailhouse. "And, I don't know about you, but I'd really rather not have him after me."

I'm sure as hell not putting him in my bed. The jailhouse wasn't far.
I don't have many extra blankets, what with the kitten staying there.

"Great," Alec says. "Pick the half-dead guy up off of one floor just to put him on another."
