Zane grimaces but puts side the pain in order to focus on his magic. He channels a thin blade of blood from the cut on his chest, attempting to slice Mortimer. He then takes the scalpel that's still in his hand, and jabs it into his leg, drawing out an extremely thin and sharp blade, that he then drives into Mortimer

Blocking the blades, Mortimer hisses deep in his throat as they lance into his left arm. Smoke rises from the wounds, and his arm falls limp and useless to his side. Picking you up by the collar, he slams you once into the wooden wall, cracking it. "You are here to destroy thousands of years of tradition!" he roars.
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
He then aims a kick towards the wounds he already inflicted, while bring the blood-sword in his hand around towards Mortimer's neck. He take his left hand and grabs for any sort of piece of wood he can find from the cracked wall, and aims to drive that into Mortimer's heart

Finding purchase, you tear a good sized chunk off the wall, and jam it into Mortimer's side. Clotted blood oozes out of the gash, but you failed to meet his heart. Managing to duck the thin blade partially, it slices not into his neck but his ear. He roars into your face once more, but not as ferociously. Slashing your face, he barely manages shallow gashes.
Huffing greatly, he falls to his knees at your feet, and strikes feebly at your legs. "He was always a fierce fighter," the Elder creeks, melancholy seeping into her ancient voice. "But he was always feeble, when they started fighting back."

Zane breathes heavily, head throbbing slightly as he pulls out the chunk of wood and places it over Mortimer's heart
"Mortimer, I bear you no ill will. If you agree to stop this now and just listen to me, I won't kill you."
He looks to the Elder
"Ma'am, I have told you, I appreciate the offer, but I cannot abandon the people of Wistvale. Is there anything else I can do, that will not require me to leave them to help you?"

"No," the Elder says, sadly. "There is not." Looking to the figure before Zane, she sighs. "He's lost. And a lost cause. He won't give up the fight, not until he's dead. You'll have to kill him."

"I have nothing to say," he huffs. "I have fought for the honor of my clan, and lost. It is your right to kill me, and further than that, a duty. If you love your town of Wistvale that much. I would torment the town, just to torment you. It is in my nature."
"I nearly had to kill the man before he would accept turning." The Elder shrugs, and leans back in her chair. "There was a village once, long ago. On the other side of out forest as your Wistvale. Mortimer was there one day, looking to feed, when a man slighted him." She steeples her fingers before her, and drums them together. "There is no longer a town, on the other side of the forest."

"While I admire your conviction, I do agree that you'd be too dangerous to allow to live. It's a shame. If you had only stopped and listened to me, then we could have been great allies, instead of enemies."
Zane shoves down with all of his strength, driving the piece of wood towards Mortimer's heart.

Mortimer falls, stake through his heart. The Elder sits in her throne, perhaps crying were she able. A low rustling fills the back of your mind, but you feel no intrusion. They're just watching, at this point.
What happens next, is entirely up to you.

Zane shakes his head, allowing himself to pity the strong warrior. He feels the questing minds but doesn't recoil or strike out at them. If they wanted to watch, then let them. He honestly felt sad it had to come to this, but he had no choice
"Madam. The sad deed is done. Now, may I beg my leave of you, or is there yet more you want from me?"

Silent for a long minute. "No," she says, melancholy creaking into her voice. "Nothing I want of you. However....is there anything you wish of me? I pull you away from your life, only to have you slay my second. I feel I owe you some sort of......compensation." Rising, her old bones creak louder than her voice ever did. Shuffling - albeit quickly - to a door, she pushes it open and disappears inside. A long while passes, nearly a quarter of an hour, before she returns. In her arms she cradles another decanter of the peculiar wine, and what appears to be a large pouch of something that jingles. Shuffling to you, she pulls your hands out and places both items in your arms. "May I never see you again,' the Elder says, neither malice nor spite in her voice. Merely well wishes. "You may leave, now."
You receive: 10 Acclaim (for putting up with my first adventure, and my being an idiot), and 100gp from the Elder.
Loot: Decanter of Blood Wine - A peculiar wine, controllable by blood mages, it has many of the same properties of blood. - Makes for a good drink, too.

Okay, so, time for discussion. First off, I really enjoyed the adventure. It seemed like it was going to be more epic then it turned out to be, however.
So, I'd have to say that you show a LOT of promise. It was fun, and a good concept, but your biggest issue is A: Posting ;P, B: Substance.
I'd say you just need to flesh the characters out a bit more, and give the story a bit more to go on. Asides from that? Great adventure, and I'd be confident in recommending you for a GM position.
Also, 10 acclaim is a crap load. May want to get Grayell to check that one
