Grayell had called an impromptu meeting and had asked Skul to attend. It was informal as there were no allegations against Skul, seems they just wanted to talk.
Skul managed to arrive before Orp or Serenity so Grayell decided it was best not to keep him waiting.
Good day Skul. Look, I wanted to ask you about something and it's not of huge significance so I think we can make do with just you and I.
It's come to our attention that you have a knack for crafting things as well as quite the grip on fire magic. This town needs a smith and we were wondering if you'd be interested. You're sure to see plenty of business of course and the council is more than willing to see you get started with whatever it is you might need.
Skul was silent as he looked around. Nice place. He pulled a chair from under a table and sat down nonchalantly, leaning back a little.
So. You want me to lend my significant talents to a townful of people that have thus far shown me no love, at the command of a toy "government" composed of a man, his girlfriend, and a cyclops. All out of the milk of human kindness. He chuckled.
I ain't kind, Grayell, and I ain't exactly human.
Of all the graveyards in all the towns in all the world, she had to walk into mine.
Grayell laughs, he didn't take offence to his current company but instead found it refreshing. He leaned forward, openly comfortable.
Nope. I don't need you to be kind. See, you can hate structure and all that other crap and resent the council all you like. Doesn't matter to me. But what I see, is someone who has chosen this town as his home for whatever reason and at least so far, acts as good a citizen as any other. You're not an anarchist and I don't think you're power hungry.
Question is, what does motivate you? I already mentioned money and that didn't so much as warrant a response from you.
I can't force you to do this Skul. I'm also not going to beg. I am simply asking whether you would consider running a profitable business that fills a niche in this town.
Sure, you're a guest. Thanks for stopping bye Skul, let me know if your change your mind - or if you just want to BS some time. I'm sure to be seeing you around.
Grayell smiled. He wasn't going to cause a confrontation where there wasn't a need and he'd thought Skul might appreciate the opportunity. Apparently not.
Grayell stands from his chair, shaking his head and laughing quietly.
Oh, you're most welcome... friend.

Nope, just missed him. Seems he didn't like what I had to say anyways.
