As the Sentinel Captain tried to turn the door knob a crackle of purple energy snapped at him, forcing him to release the door.
"Damn him, he's cursed the door. Quick, outside!"
"There's no need, Captain," said Serenity.
The Lady Howle moved up her sleeve and before their eyes her pale skin materialized hardened scales.
The ward lashed out against her as she reached for the knob, but Serenity endured. As she turned the knob her shoulder slammed the door to swing it open. Red now stared down a mage much more powerful than he and a squad of Sentinels standing behind her.

Not to long ago, at a party just a few hours before...
"Oh they're only doing what they do best. Don't let them bother you, I never do."
Aimee laughed at the prospect of having her guardians pack her and Kiga a picnic much to their dismay. Her hand touched her lower lip at the thought.
The party seemed to have officially come to a close as more and more patrons began to depart and it seemed a good a time as any for Aimee to do the same, especially now that she assured her caretakers just as much.
"I will, and I look forward to it, Kiga. Goodnight."
The lady curtsied and walked away with the tap of her heels knocking past Kiga as she approached her guardians. They seemed relieved at last to finally have her in their custody. After she calmed them down, they soon took their leave with Aimee giving a final look back at her interesting date of the evening.
Serenity was trying her best not to become frantic at hearing her cousin speak a word. It had been months since Vienna showed any signs of life apart from eating and occasionally closing her eye lids to stop the burning. Now the princess speaks, and it's a name Serenity's never heard (or likely forgotten about).
As Kiga approached, Vienna responded again, "Kiga?"
A dark sapphire necklace around her neck shone brilliantly, as if it were coming to life along with Vienna.
"No, wait, don't approach her!" cried Serenity.
A blinding magic erupted from the stone and enveloped the whole room
in a stifling environment. As Kiga recovered from the sudden veil he could see that the room was at a standstill; patrons and motions were at a complete stop. Even sound seemed to have been choked out of the room.
"Kiga?" Vienna said. She appeared to be perfectly fine and unaffected by the magic field just like Kiga. The rogue moved about freely, completely absolved of her doll like posture from before.
Serenity had outstretched her arm toward Kiga to stop him from getting closer, face frozen in warning. Her cheek was still warm to Vienna's touch.
"What is going on, I, oh..."
As she looked back toward Kiga the man with the dagger like nose approached and as he walked a cloak of midnight materialized from the shadows to reveal the Crow armor.
"We did not expect Vienna to find one from that day so soon. I must admit, I had my doubts today would be a good day."
His black garb completely covered him and the only sense of life came from the twinkle of his eyes that glinted beneath the cowl.
"Now then, Kiga was it? Please do tell where the Blood Stone is."
"Damn him, he's cursed the door. Quick, outside!"
