Your character sheet is your own thread, dedicated to your character. It is set up and managed by you as the player. Your character sheet is linked in your mini-profile for ease of reference when playing and contains all relevant information needed in the course of adventuring. Our game has no true stats so managing your character sheet could hardly be simpler.
You character sheet contains two categories:
Your character info: The first post contains background information for your character, their current skill-set and other pertinent information that you would like to keep there. A shiny picture of your character hardly hurts either.
Your character inventory: The second post in your thread is a log of all your character's possessions. This is your current equipment, carried items and your stored items.
For examples of character information, click the link that reads "Character Sheet" beneath my avatar to the left of this post.
UPDATING YOUR CHARACTER INFORMATION
Whenever you update, edit or alter your character sheet, you are required to make a quick post in your thread stating what you changed. This prevents confusion and gives us a 'transaction record' which can help staff or yourself undo any mistakes that may be made. Please be sure to make a post, should you update your info, inventory or any of you skills.
You are not required to update your gold or acclaim on your character sheet. A member of staff can update your total in your mini profile for you.
This thread is for anyone with equipment questions or confusion. As always refer to your Game Guide for other rules.
Equipped Items:
[/b][/u] This can be as mundane as a wood staff for the spell inclined or a steel sword for you brawny warrior types. Feel free to be creative. You are limited only by the fact that your main weapon cannot be magical or of any significant value. Again, you have just begun your career. Staves of flaming doom or diamond hilted longswords don’t just fall out of the sky.
Reserve Weapon: This is your back up weapon. For a right handed unarmed warrior with martial prowess you would list your left fist here.
Helmet: What you wish to protect your head with on a daily basis. A leather helmet would be an example of this or a dark hood for those more interested in lurking about.
Body: We ask all players to be dressed in a shirt and pair of pants or a dress for the female adventurer. Basic armor; be it leather, iron, or steel is also allowed.
Gloves: Did your mother give you a set of gloves as a going away gift? Perhaps not, but you’ll want to protect your hands during all the new practice sessions with your sword.
Belt: What you use to hold up your pants.
Footwear: You will require shoes. Different races might approach this in more than one way. For instance, an elvish warrior might wear very elaborately designed leather boots or a mage leather sandals. Where as a half-beast might not wear any footgear at all. If such is the case for your character please state the reason you have decided not to wear shoes.
Cloak: Cloak, cape, or a coat. These are all considered cloak items. As with anything else none may be magical or worth more than a few coins.
Accessory: Not a required item for you to play. We list it here due to the fact that it is possible for you to buy these in our Merchant area. However, that is not to say you can’t have an accessory at character creation. Do you have a family keepsake? Is your character a priest or priestess? This could be the symbol of your order if that is the case.
Personal Item: A place for flair. An item of sentimental value for whatever reason you describe. Example: A bronze dagger given to you by your best friend on your birthday.
Items Carried: Per your current 'slot' allowance. You can read more about this further on in this thread, or in the game guide.[/ul]
Items Stored: Items beyond your normal equipment that you have either replaced with better ones or have no room to carry. They may be stored in your home but would be listed here.[/font]
In your Character Sheet, your record your characters equipment, as well as their possessions which they are storing. There is no limit to how many items you can store and just where they are in the game world, is up to you.
Outside your equipment, your character can carry items with them, for use when they see fit. However, the amount of things they can carry is limited.
ITEM SLOTS
So, items are 'measured' in a manner. Your character has a total of TEN item 'slots'. Different items take up different amounts of slots. The larger, or heavier an item is, the more slots it will take up.
So, your character can carry ten slots worth of small things, potentially ten items - or they might carry a few big things that take up multiple slots each - or any mixture they like.
All items have a slot value. If it's not equipped, you have to have the space for it, or leave it behind.
HOW THINGS ARE CARRIED ON YOUR CHARACTER
Really, that's up to you. We've done away with bags and satchels and other rubbish, as it's complicated. You have ten slots to work with. Just how you RP carrying things is entirely up to you.
CONSUMABLE ITEMS - AND WHY WE DON'T HAVE THEM
With few exceptions, we don't have consumable items. They require too much micro-management. Altering your character sheet, going to the store, buying more and altering your sheet again - it's just a bit much.
Items you would normally use once and no longer have can be used once per adventure, as a rule. The exception to this is if the item states otherwise. So your candle you burned out does not need replacing after the adventure ends. Some items can be refilled in the same adventure, like a water container, or a lantern, should you have what is required to do so.
TIME IT TAKES TO USE AN ITEM
We ask that you're modest. If you're trying to get to the double axe you have in your backpack, you maybe should spend your turn getting it out, rather than getting to attack with it. There's no real rule here, but your GM will hamper you if they feel it is necessary. They will also be more likely to reward you, for your being modest and realistic.
CARRYING AND USING EXTRA EQUIPMENT
If you character is going to carrying extra equipment for optional use in battle, you must consider the time it will take to bring it to bear. A throwing knife may be used quickly, but switching out weapons, or changing apparel will take much longer and is going to consume precious time in combat.
For an example on how your character sheet should look, click on the link below my Avatar, to the left.
Below is the character sheet code, so that you can copy and paste it just 'fill in the blanks' and help you with your layout.
There are a couple of things that you should know:
- Notable features include significant scars, birthmarks, tattoos and so on which may be used to identify you. - Talents should only specify your Talents that are NOT AT ZERO. So if you have a drawback, or have acquired levels, make sure those talents are there. Otherwise, they're not needed.
