Level 1 CHAOS MAGIC
- Suffering -
Effect: With a gesture of their hand, the mage amplifies the pain already felt by their enemy.
Range: 15 feet.
AOE: One injured target.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The target suffers a 1 point penalty to Endurance. Lasts 5 minutes.
- Pierce Darkness -
Effect: The mage's vision sees through shadow and darkness, revealing what lurks within.
Range: The caster.
AOE: 30 feet.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The mage gains a + 2 bonus to Awareness in low light. Lasts 5 minutes.
- Shadow Claws -
Effect: The mage's fingers grow wicked talons, suited to tear and rend enemies' flesh.
Range: Caster.
AOE: Caster's hands.
Cast Time: Immediate..
Power: These claws grant a + 2 bonus to the mage's Unarmed Melee Talent. Last 15 minutes.
Level 2 CHAOS MAGIC
- Ominous Aura -
Effect: Creating a dark miasma about them, the mage becomes considerably more threatening, instilling fear in those around him.
Range: Caster.
AOE: 12 feet.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: + 2 Intimidation for 5 minutes.
- Immediate Illness -
Effect: The mage strikes his enemy with a sudden illness, robbing them of strength.
Range: 16 feet.
AOE: One target.
Cast Time: Immediate,
Power: The target suffers a 3 point penalty to their Endurance.
- Insidious Ward -
Effect: The mage crafts an arcane ward, which harms those who tamper with it, or contact it.
Range: One solid surface of appropriate size. Must be touched.
AOE: 3 feet across and high.
Cast Time: 1 whole round.
Power: Any creature touching the ward will suffer immediate, minor damage.
Level 3 CHAOS MAGIC
- Detect Thought -
Effect: By focusing on the shadows, the mage can detect the thoughts of those hidden from view.
Range: Caster.
AOE: 15 feet radius.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The mage can detect intelligent beings nearby. They cannot read their thoughts. Lasts 10 minutes.
- Lesser Tendrils -
Effect: The mage summons a pair of hideous, dark tendrils which act as extra limbs and may be utilized in many ways.
Range: Attached to the caster's shoulders.
AOE: Each tendril is 3 feet long.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: These appendages are not capable of very fine tasks or manipulation. They can wield single handed weaponry. They can be used as + 2 unarmed weapons (caster's skills does not apply). Lasts 5 minutes.
- Minor Curse -
Effect: Spitting a volatile curse, the mage causes suffering in their target and impairs their ability to cause harm.
Range: 12 feet.
AOE: One target.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The target suffers a 2 point penalty to Athletic & Combat Talents. Lasts 10 minutes.
Level 4 CHAOS MAGIC
- Enveloping Shadow -
Effect: Cloaking themselves in shadow grants the mage some useful benefits.
Range: The caster.
AOE: n/a.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: Effects apply in low light: The mage is granted a + 5 bonus to Concealment. All attacks against the mage suffer a 2 point penalty. Lasts 15 minutes.
- Acidic Fog -
Effect: A terrible, choking fog which can sap the strength from those affected.
Range: 60 feet.
AOE: 12 feet.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: Vs target's Endurance: 0-1 = The target cannot defend this round. 2-3 = Attacks on this target gain a + 2 bonus this round.
- Inushak's Diseased Bolt -
Effect: A horrible, rancid bolt of arcane energy that inflicts more than raw harm.
Range: 25 feet.
AOE: One target.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: Causes moderate damage and a + 2 penalty to target's Endurance. If Endurance strikes or goes below 0, target takes Major damage. Lasts 2 minutes.
Level 5 CHAOS MAGIC
- Unmend -
Effect: Through sheer aggressive will, the last aid offered to a target is now undone, leaving them wounded once more.
Range: 30 feet.
AOE: One target.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The mage can 'undo' the last healing done to one target. That healing must have taken effect this round. The mages level must be equal to, or higher than that of the healer.
- Darkling -
Effect: Summons a 4 foot tall shadow servant, known as a Darkling. This Darkling will defend the caster from threat ferociously, or will attack upon command.
Range: Summoned within 10 feet.
AOE: n/a.
Cast Time: 1 whole round.
Power: Darkling: 4 points in overall fighting, claws act as small blades. Treated as a lesser creature, will dispel after 10 minutes, or if slain. Incapable of other tasks.
- Atrophic Blade -
Effect: The mage imbues one weapon with a dreadful power.
Range: 12 feet.
AOE: One target's mundane weapon.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: Any successful hit will reduce the victim's Athletic Talents by 2 points.
Level 6 CHAOS MAGIC
- Greater Tendrils -
Effect: The mage summons four tendrils which act as extra limbs and may be utilized in many ways.
Range: Attached to the caster's shoulders. and sides.
AOE: Each tendril is 4 feet long.
Cast Time: 1 whole round.
Power: These appendages are not capable of very fine tasks or manipulation. They can wield single handed weaponry. They can be used as + 2 unarmed weapons (caster's skills does not apply). Lasts 10 minutes.
- Greater Curse -
Effect: The mage can now strike a target with terrible malice and leave them both weary.
Range: 12 feet.
AOE: One target.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The target suffers a 3 point penalty to Athletic & Combat Talents. Lasts 10 minutes.
- Create Darkness -
Effect: The mage now has enough command over shadow to evoke an unnatural darkness.
Range: 50 feet.
AOE: 25 feet.
Cast Time: 1 whole round.
Power: All creatures entering the AOE suffer a 4 point penalty to their Awareness.
This Darkness lasts 30 minutes.
Level 7 CHAOS MAGIC
- Shadow Weapon -
Effect: The mage can craft a melee weapon of horrid power, forged from pure darkness.
Range: The caster, requires a free hand.
AOE: Crafts one melee weapon of the mage's design.
Cast Time: 1 whole round.
Power: The mage is granted + 4 to the applicable weapon Talent. This weapon lasts for 10 minutes. The weapon dissipates should the mage release it.
- Command Undead -
Effect: Through near-mastery of the dark arts, the mage now has the will to bend lesser undead to their will.
Range: 12 feet.
AOE: One target.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The mage can attempt to assert control over lesser undead. Contributing factors include: Target's intelligence and disposition, power of the magic and will that has animated them.
- Shadow Step -
Effect: The mage can step into shadows now and travel, reappearing through any shadow within immediate range.
Range: The caster.
AOE: 30 feet.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The mage can step onto a shadow, large enough for his feet and sink into it. He then re-emerges from any shadow within 30 feet, next turn. If used evasively, one attack against the mage suffers a 2 point penalty.
Level 8 CHAOS MAGIC
- Shadow Snare -
Effect: The mage crafts a simple, circular shadow that ensnares anyone who should stumble across it.
Range: 20 feet.
AOE: 6 feet diameter.
Cast Time: 1 whole round.
Power: The mage 'plants' a circular shadow, some 6 feet across. This cannot be placed within another shadow. The trap is sprung upon contact and vs the target's Brawn: Less than 7 Brawn, target is ensnared and can take no action this round. Less than 5, target also takes moderate damage.
- Wrathful Aura of Spite -
Effect: Forming a winding, threatening vortex about them, those attacking the mage are immediately reprimanded.
Range: The caster.
AOE: n/a
Cast time: 1 whole round.
Power: Any opponent landing a successful melee attack upon the mage, immediately receives minor damage. This spell lasts 5 minutes.
- Ersen's Delayed Acidic Lance -
Effect: Evokes 3 acidic projectiles, that lock onto a chosen target and attack in slow succession.
Range: 50 feet upon casting.
AOE: One target.
Cast time: Immediate.
Power: Each round, a projectile attacks the target for moderate damage. The spell cannot be outrun, but can be impaired as these projectiles will fly straight only. Lasts 3 rounds.
Level 9 CHAOS MAGIC
- Summon Helghast -
Effect: The mage evokes an evil, purely dark counterpart of themselves, a being of true malevolent intent and rage.
Range: Summoned within 10 feet.
AOE: n/a.
Cast Time: 2 whole rounds.
Power: Helghast: Purely dark clone of the caster. Attacks with unarmed (claws + 6) and can sustain major damage. Mirrors the mage's athletic ability. Will not ober commands but instead, will attack without thought, any threat to the mage and potentially, other creatures not of the mage's party. Lasts 10 minutes. Will defend itself if interfered with in any manner.
- Shadow Walking -
Effect: Darkness is now entwined in the vary fabric of the mage, which makes him considerably more dangerous in klow light conditions.
Range: The caster.
AOE: n/a
Cast Time: 1 whole round.
Power: Effects in low-light: + 4 Speed bonus, + 4 Concealment bonus, any attacks on the mage suffer a 2 point penalty. This spell lasts 15 minutes.
- Command Multiple Undead -
Effect: The mage's bond with the dark magics they manifest is almost whole, granting them power over the turned unliving.
Range: 12 feet.
AOE: Up to 3 targets.
Cast Time: Immediate.
Power: The mage can attempt to assert control over no more than 3 lesser undead. Contributing factors include: Target's intelligence and disposition, power of the magic and will that has animated them.
Level 10 CHAOS MAGIC
- Caustic Contagion -
Effect: The mage draws an unnatural miasma from the nine hells and dooms their enemies, delivering death to the battlefield.
Range: 40 feet.
AOE: 18 feet.
Cast Time: 1 whole round.
Power: All effected targets take moderate damage each turn, until effects is canceled through healing. This effect lasts 3 rounds.
- Vampirism -
Effect: Sucking the very life from their victim, the mage can revitalize and even heal their own wounds.
Range: The mage must remain in touch with their target.
AOE: One target.
Cast Time: 1 whole round, ongoing effect.
Power: The mage can leech a moderate amount of health from one target, each round they remain in touch with them. The target takes this amount in damage. The mage cannot kill a target in this manner, without killing themselves.
- Death Touch -
Effect: The mage delivers a fatal blow to the enemy, simply by placing their hand upon them.
Range: Must touch the target.
AOE: One target, will not work on undead.
Power: The mage causes massive damage in one target immediately.
