Ely's laughter grew louder the minute the door shut. So, maybe the drink had influenced her, too. She was normally more circumspect, at least until she got the lay of the land... so to speak.
She turned to look at Kiga, the sun was going falling farther down in the sky. This was Ely's favorite time, when she could look out as if from inside one of her own fireballs. The orange and red sunshine always made her smile.
"...so... tell me something... how did you get up into the rafters earlier?"
He had not been making much sense the past few times he'd spoke, but nothing ventured nothing gained.

“Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.”
Kiga grinned wide and his hands came together and made a bird. It flew from his waist to soar over his head, fingers flapping wildly and him reaching onto his tiptoes to have it fly so very high.
I flew.....
And then his hands dropped and he made a splat sound.
SHPLAT.
He sighed, shrugged and leaned harder into Ely then. His drunken eyes were staring at the ground as he tried to walk.
Shee, there wash thish girl in there. She hash earsh. Earsh.... oh man. Ish all about the earsh, ya know?
Ely [M:164:1653:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=394&page=1#14814]A soul on fire...[0:Snuffed][1:Flame On!]
Ely struggled against the new burst of laughter. Boy, when he woke up after this... Well, she would pay to be a fly on the wall. Her eyes narrowed, the look intent and contemplative.
She walked beside him, making sure to catch him before he stumbled, but it wasn't easy. He was wandering from one side to the other in no particular pattern.
"Ears?"
Keep him talking Ely. He might say anything. Of course, anything he did say was immediately suspect. He probably would have no recollection of it, at all.

“Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.”
Kiga nodded most emphatically and went about explaining in his most considerate manner of course.
YESH! BLASHTED EARSH!
His hand pressed to his chest, well his fingertips anyways.
I, will hash you know madam, I am a perfect gentleman. And ash my mother alwaysh shaid, a bird ish worth much more than a fish on the danshfloor. Sho, that pretty cat girl back there? Yesh, her and her earsh well; I tell you what, they can all go jush shit in a corner and... and... well just shit there. Thash right!
Kiga throws an arm about her shoulders and leans terrible close to her cheek, his whisper is by no means quiet.
Wanna know a shecret?? I fink... they all jush wanna eat me. Ish in their blood you shee, naashtee horrible gnashing teeth and clawsh and shuch, ish quite frightening I can ashure you. BUT!
Oh lord, he's jumped onto a barrel. This could end poorly.
I AM SCHARED OF NONE OF EM! COME GET ME PUSHEE CATSH, I CAN FLY AWAY!
With that he jumped off the barrel. Well it was more of a drop really, seems his agility was in snooze mode. He hit the ground in a low crouch, face looking very definitely suspsicious, hands throwing weak, sloppy punches in the air.
HIYAH PUSH CHATSH, CAN'T CASH ME!
Ely [M:164:1653:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=394&page=1#14814]A soul on fire...[0:Snuffed][1:Flame On!]
Ely was trying to be serious, honest. She truly did feel like it was her responsibility to see him home. If she had not talked to him he wouldn't have walked up the bar... oh bother that.
He'd grabbed a hold of her. He was leaning really close, too. She wanted to reach up and kiss him. Oh no. Yes, this was definitely a very bad idea. Her ears flickered back when he started to speak, they were practically flat.
She had been trying to pay attention to his feet, but the closer proximity was complicating that, and she had to stop to concentrate on what he said. It took just a bit more brain power to figure out that she thought she could summon up.
Cat people wanted to eat him?
He'd jumped up on the barrel and Ely gave a quick sigh of relief.
Wait. Did he just say he could fly?
She had seen people fly. Air mages.
"Umm... Kiga? I don't think there are any cat people here."

Kiga looked about with his one eye looking very skeptical, his lips scrunched up in blatant defiance of the opression of his people's by the cat folk! Or something like that. He looked at her again and then smiled, grabbed her hands and well, mostly fell into her chest for a moment.
Yesh. Mosht good I tell you. Why, jush what are they finking anywaysh? Huh? Jush you tell me that? Yesh. I hasg a good mind to eatsh one of them for a change. Shee how they like it.
He nodded, face on her front and then his hands grabbed to her shoulders, using her to pull himself upright. He urped and looked at her, quite sleepy again.
Geesh mish, you shure are pretty. My name, ish Kiga. Ish a pleashure to meethca.
He looked over his shoulder with a wobbling head and then back to her with a wink. One hand left her shoulder and waved down the street behind him.
Duncha worry mish, I took care of em all I did. Nuffin to shee here, move along now. Shilly cat peoplesh never knew what hit em I telsh ya!
Ely [M:164:1653:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=394&page=1#14814]A soul on fire...[0:Snuffed][1:Flame On!]
Ely stumbled backward. She was not prepared for him to fall face first on her chest. She hit the ground with a thud, too, hand flung out her staff clattering into the dirt.
He was still babbling about cat people. She teetered between laughing hysterically and being thoroughly confused. There was no war with... um bird people? Were there bird people? There were cat people, so, it could be possible. How would she know? Was he delusional? Or just really, really, confused by the alcohol?
He was trying to stand back up. Ely planted the staff into the ground and rose with him. Or, let him use her as a climbing tool. Oh...
Her laughter skipped to a halt. He'd called her pretty again. She glanced down. He was rather dashing, what with the eye patch, and feather. What happened to his other eye? It was a odd thought that skipped across her brain.
"But... what if they are in hiding. Maybe we should get out of the street. They could come back... the cat people."

“Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.”
Aw, that would have nee sweet if he weren't altogether drunk and corny.
THISH WAY!!
Well. When alse fails, go with loud again. Kiga made a loose grab for her hand and dasged for an alleyway. Dashing as in stumbling, feet flopping every which way and him scaring the beejeezus out of a drowsy chicken as he dragged her from the main road.
Ely [M:164:1653:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=394&page=1#14814]A soul on fire...[0:Snuffed][1:Flame On!]
Ely was losing the battle to laughter. Her eyes were watering from trying to hold it in, too. She wiped at her face, head twisted around to escape the glare of the sunset.
She was, therefore, quite surprised when Kiga grabbed her hand and started to pull her away from the road, even though it had been her suggestion.
A short shriek of sound came from her too, not unlike one you might hear when stepping on the tail of a cat. She did not complain, though, she had wanted him away from the center of town.

Kig bumbled into the alleyway, her hand held in his and him mostly bouncing off assorted clutter to navigate his way down the center of the alley. Finally he stopped, turned to his left and fell back onto a crate. Lots of crates in Wistvale it seems. His eyes closed for a moment and his head swated about on his neck, then nodded forward, eyes closing again.
Ely [M:164:1653:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=394&page=1#14814]A soul on fire...[0:Snuffed][1:Flame On!]
Ely stopped right in her tracks. Kiga toppled forward into the crates and she waited for a few more minutes expecting him to jump up or say something else ridiculous about cat people. But, he had not said a thing.
"...Kiga?"
Her voice was hesitant. Maybe the liquor had finally gotten to be too much. He could have passed out. Ely had observed this phenomenon several times in several bars.
"Kiga..."
She tried again.

Kiga opene his eye and smiled in a very drunken, tired manner, his head still rather loose on his neck. He managed to look up at her for a moment and then giggled.
His chin fell to his chest and he looked at the ground for a moment, cooing like a pigeon. He giggled again, then shook his head; hands wavin to either side to emphasize the gesture.
I jush thought I shaw you hash kitty earsh. Sheesh, I think I might be drunk or somefink. I would hash to eatcha or shumfin...
Ely [M:164:1653:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=394&page=1#14814]A soul on fire...[0:Snuffed][1:Flame On!]
Ely decided to bluff her way out of this one. It wasn't like he had command of all his senses, he could barely walk. She ignored the little twinge in her chest, too. The one that said it was a bad idea to lie to Kiga. However, she was trying to get him home safely, right?
Right. So, why do you still want to kiss him. Huh? Ely shut that interior voice up, too.
"...you don't remember drinking the Dragon's Breath?"

“Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.”
Kiga looked at Ely with wide eyed amazement then. It took a time but his glare becmame something more scuritinizing and then he quite openly stared directly at her chest. It wasn't ogling, it was stupid drunkeness.
What... would a dragonsh breashtsh even look like?
Ely [M:164:1653:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=394&page=1#14814]A soul on fire...[0:Snuffed][1:Flame On!]
She had distracted him from the ears. The look was making her breath stutter in her throat, though. She tried to slow that down just a bit with a couple of extended exhales. Then Ely took the comment Kiga made and ran with it.
"...well, like flames! You know, all fiery colored and red, there was even smoke rolling off the top. Why else would they call it that? It was in this huge steel mug, too. Probably because anything else would have melted. You don't remember?"
Truth tell, Ely couldn't remember what it looked like at all.
