Chaz adjusted the small tank in the leather holster that was strung on his back. A tube ran from it to the flamer, and he'd fashioned the holster to also hold the weapon on his back when he wasn't using it. He nodded to Simeon and went outside.
Let's go!
A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible.
Simeon grinned. This was going to be an exciting day!
He followed the Cathian into the street and asked, "So where do you think would be the best place to really put this to the test? We could hunt for venison in the forest, or go roast a bison and host a feast. We could even try some trickier targets like rabbits or birds...
It would seem strange to just kill some farmer's animals. Or even animals in general. I'd rather not use it in the forest very much, as dry as it is... I'd rather find some vermin or something. Do the town a favor.
A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible.
Simeon nodded. "That's a wise idea. I wouldn't have suggested harming anyone's personal livestock. So do you know a good way to hunt for rodents and the like? And you will want to be extra careful around the buildings..."
He raised an eyebrow, "I don't need to remind you that almost all of them are made out of wood--do I?"
Simeon thought for a moment and said, "I suppose they do. Although, I'm not quite sure where we'd find any. And even if we did, it wouldn't seem right to attack them without cause..."
His thoughts wandered for a second at most before he started again, "Perhaps we could go of into the wild plains." As soon as he said that he shook his head from side to side, "No, the grass there is up to four feet tall and would easily catch fire. The open fields seem to be the best choice. There's also the hill country if you're up for a good days walk--that would take the whole day and we'd be getting back fairly late at night. We might run into hobgoblins or kobolds in the hills or there may be wild boar in the fields. Perhaps there would be some kobolds in the fields as well--at least, it's possible. I've never actually one on that kind of adventure."
After a pause he finished with, "So what do you think? Which sounds better to you?"
