Jonah had been eating a bit of meat off the bone at the same time the black bear had made it's surprise arrival, causing the tribesman to be spend the last few moments choking on squirrel. By the time Jonah had recovered Venom and Rue had already began fighting off the large predator with mild success. He quickly threw down his backpack, and Percy - his darkwood sword - and charged into the fray, putting his self in between the others and the bear. Jonah puffed out his chest and looked the bear in the eye - ready to wrestle this beast to the ground.
Venom sat on the ground and crawled backwards trying to gain more distance between him and the bear.
Jonah wait!
Venom got on his feet and grabbed whatever meat was left from the three and tossed them at the bear's feet, hoping that it would leave them alone.
The smell of food may have brought it here. I doubt it wants to eat us. Either that or it may just be protecting her little ones nearby. Let's just slowly back away.
Venom walks towards Rue and stands in between her and the bear in case it decided to attack again.
The bear realized that Jonah wasn't being aggressive, but rather, protective. Since that was the same thing she was doing she didn't attack but instead stood to her tallest height and roared in front of Jonah. She felt that he wasn't going to hurt her but desperately wanted all of them to go away.

Jonah gave one last lingering look at the bear then backed away slowly.
Ok, let's get out of here. I think we've done enough.
The tribesman felt bad that the protective animal had been injured over something that could have easily been avoided, but he could not bring himself to be angry at Rue, she was only trying to keep them safe.
Venom began to back up as well. The bear didn't seem as if she'd follow them, which was a good sign. Maybe they could find a better spot to make another meal, being that they lost their food to the bear. Venom tried a few times to look over his shoulder to see how bad his cut was that he received from the bear.
The bear continued to stand tall as they hunting party backed away. Blood matted around the wound wear the arrow stuck. The bear was obviously in pain but definitely wasn't going to allow them to get any closer. She continued to stand until they had backed out of sight. Only then did she slowly lower herself--letting out a pained growl as her wounded paw touched the ground.
It would be best for the party to continue down the trail.
Venom was able to see that the bear had ripped part of his clothing but only put three thin, superficial scratches on his back.

"Here," Rue said, walking up behind Venom. "These scratches innocuous, but I can heal them for you anyway. Don't want to risk getting infected out here." Placing one hand on Venom's shoulder so he would stand still, she passed her other hand over the cuts. She sent a blue light from her fingers across the scratches and the skin closed up immediately.
She removed her hands from Venom's shoulder and back and continued to walk down the trail, keeping an eye out for other predators and possible prey.

Impressive. Jonah remarked at the sight of Rue healing Venom's shoulder. He picked up his belongings and followed the huntress down the trail. Several members of my tribe practice healing with herbs and such, but none of them know magic.
After a while, the party spotted a deer not too far from where they stood. This was not a mere doe, but a rather large and muscular buck with impressive antlers. The party froze--standing completely still and muffling their breathe they watched as the majestic creature approached the stream. The animal appeared quite intelligent and his eyes, although herd to see fro0m where they stood, appeared to be full of light and life. If there was a sporting hunter in the mix, he or she would have a difficult time passing on an opportunity like this.
Eyes fixed on the deer, Venom remained still. He wanted to see what else his companions had in them as hunters. Rue would probably be the best one to catch this animal. Her bow could take it from a distance, unlike Jonah and him who would need to get up close and probably startle it.
"I know a little about healing with herbal remedies, but I find magic much more convenient, and effective," Rue said in respose on Jonah's statement.
When she saw the deer, she stopped walking and stood motionless next to Venom, studying the beauty of the creature before them. Quietly, she said to her companions, "I'm not really one for recreational hunting, but..." If killed and handled carefully, they could probably make good money off of the buck.
Being that no one had the desire to kill the animal, Venom felt that this was his opportunity to thank Rue. He got closer to her and whispered.
Rue... I'm sorry for throwing you to the side when the bear attacked. I did not mean to hurt you. For some reason, my body reacted before I could even think out a plan or something... I have never thrown myself into danger for anybody else before... It was... a weird feeling...
He had a confused look in his eyes.
Thank you also for... you know... healing my back.
He looked away. He felt like a disgrace. His people would have disciplined him for his actions and considered weak.
After Rue responded to him ((Just start your post with what you said/did)) Venom did not get a chance to reply in turn... For suddenly, a large number of birds few overhead making a terrible ruckus. The noble deer instantly dashed off and soon, several smaller woodland creatures ran by. The din was unexpected and its initial cause a mystery.
