Alec [M:118:6:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=412&page=1#1242]"I see," said the blind man to the deaf lady.[0:Wandering the stacks.][1:Present and accounted for.]
He looks at the parchment again, then stops. He puts a finger on the clean part of the map. "If that's a corner of the tavern," he mutters, then turns to look at the tavern. Pointing over his shoulder, "...and if that's the entrance..." he mumbles. "If I'm right, the exclamation mark is to the north-east. And, unless the scale is just awful - I wouldn't be surprised if it was, though - it's.....quite close, as well."
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
Rue nodded at Grayell to show she understood what he was saying about the elves. She then heard approaching footsteps and turned to see Simeon and the other young man returning from the Tavern.
Simeon nodded in response to Rue's question. "We found a map on the body. There's a spot in the woods that's marked. I'd assume that's the best place to start looking. Valithra, the elven woman, said something about the stolen item having power--or something like that. I guess it must be enchanted. That would explain a lot of what's going on."
But if there's undead about to walk on Wistvale, it's their ass. Time we left and sorted this whole mess out.

Alec shrugs, having followed Simeon. "Lead on, Grell," he says. "You seem to be the most fervent among us to protect the town, why don't you spearhead this excursion?"
Come in under the shadow of this red rock, and I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning, striding behind you, or your shadow at evening, rising to meet you. I shall show you fear in a handful of dust.
The adventurers begin their march, down the dusty road out side of Wistvale. Time seemed to ebb as they walked, the five mile hike was surely taking a while. The sun was slowly setting as the night sky turned to the hue of burning embers. Up ahead they see a faint light from a torch, a familiar cloaked elf stood in it's light.
Grayell had led much of the way here, having little to say but instead focusing upon the task at hand. Upon spotting that blasted elf, he simple wandered up without so much as wave. Getting within reasonable distance to speak quietly...
Well that's one way to tell the undead you're here.
The elf smiled, almost with a hidden agenda. He eyed Grayell after his comment.
If you prefer that we not be exposed.....
His sentenced trailed off as he spoke, his eyes, once a deep emerald green like his sister's slowly filled turning black. The light cast from the torch began to fade away, though the torch still burned. In just a few moments all was dark as the surrounding night, the torch giving no light though the flames still danced atop the stick.
I suppose that work's a treat at birthdays. Will have to remember that one.
Grayell turned to wait on his partners. He was determined to not let the pointy eared ass lint get on his nerves. Having to work with them didn't mean liking it.
Simeon wanted to break the silence, but tensions were high enough already. He decided to pick a topic that everyone would be able to relate to--as it was specific to the situation. "Have any of you dealt with the undead before?"
The light began returning to the small area, just on the brim of the ring of light one could see splintered wood, Thaylinus' voice could be hear beyond the torchlight.
They are trivial creatures, at least your base forms. Some are powerful, some even stronger. We will be fine, I have my scouts positioned around us, if they come....
He grunted and crashing of wood could be heard.
We will be fine. DAMN, where is it? One of those damned creatures must have taken it.
Thaylinus emerged from the shadows beyond the light.
Scan the area for the remaining bodies, I only found two in the carriage transporting their 'goods'. Be on the look out for this.
Thaylinus walked back into the torch light pacing.
Zulin, reveal yourself.
At his command the shadow cast from Thaylinus began to elongate and separate form him. it skittered from the light of the torch. A moment later another elf emerged from the darkness.
Yes commander?
He asked while giving him what seemed to be a salute.
Search the woods, find tracks, paths anything, speak with the shadows to gather information on the remaining bodies.
The Elf bowed, as he stood tendrils of dark mist surrounded him, as it dissapated he was gone.
