Just as he thought he was getting the hang of destroying these things, the swarm came. There is no way he was about to match the power of six of these mechanical spiders. Thoughts raced through his mind. He could hole up in the room he found the artifacts, but they would likely find their way in. He saw one option that seemed more viable that hiding... running for his life!
He quickly put his bow to his back, grabbed the bag of goods in one arm and Rogelio in the other, and sprinted down the previously blocked off path. He hoped he could maintain a good distance from the bolt throwers or their aim would simply be bad. Otherwise, he was likely to get a few bolts in the back. He couldnt help but let out a yell as he charged down the hallway... "AHHH!!!"
Death is no more than turning us over from time to eternity. Whether that eternity is damnation or salvation is determined in the time we have.
The sentinels chased the warrior as fast as their ancient joints could muster, with bolts of lightning chasing after Miroslaw and licking the ground he just stepped on. The clink of many metallic prongs hitting the ground echoed greatly as Miroslaw ran with Rogelio not far behind.
A sentinel pipe came up and one of the mechanical creatures slid right out of it just before Miroslaw ran past it, avoiding its sudden lunge as a claw narrowly tried to clamp at his armor.
The stairwell leading up to the previously locked door was coming up, and then the door that locked him out before without his card key.
(I am suppose to be holding the wee rat, Rogelio. )
Miroslaw was intensely afraid one of the bolts would hit him. The entire time he ran, he could not bring himself to look back. When the spider jumped out at him, he was not able to artfully dodge, only continue to run and hope he made it past the certainly incoming strike. He narrowly escaped what would have been his doom. There was no way he was about to take on all the spiders that followed him.
Approaching the staircase, he made it way up them as fast as he could, skipping stairs as he went. Getting to the top, he would drop Rogelio to free up a hand to use the key card. If it did not work, this would be it. He fished around for a bit, almost forgetting where he put the card in the intensity of the following army of sentinels. After finding it, he did not hesitate in shoving it into the key slot.

The door remains still for a moment, the ancient machinery reading the mysterious slate that Miroslaw slid into the slot. A march of metal prongs was not far behind and the warrior could hear them begin to climb up the steps.
The crescendo of metallic stamps rang closer and closer with the door still not moving. Rogelio began to claw at it in a frantic, rightfully fearing that this could be the end after years of remaining hidden from these ceaseless guardians, all for a honk of cheese.
From the depths of the hallway below, a loud crash suddenly sounded and made the sentinels stop in their tracks. All of a sudden Miroslaw could make out what sounded like a rush, a tidal wave of sorts that ran through the corridor, but it was not like water. When the source came closer to the stairwell the warrior could make out what sounded like hundreds, if not thousands of tiny insects overwhelming his pursuers and tearing them apart.
"The door!" Rogelio cried.
Just as Miroslaw witnessed the oncoming plague of scarabs, the door behind him opened with but seconds to spare. This would take him to a new corridor that emptied into an all too familiar large room.
Miroslaw thought it was the end when the door did not open. He drew his bow with the intention of making a final stand, ready to die. He aimed it down the stairs, waiting.
Then he heard strange noises. It was difficult to tell what was happening. As it came closer, the sound made Miroslaw fear what it was. It sounded like an army of bugs! It tore the sentinels apart, judging by the sounds, but it was coming closer! It would tear him and Rogelio apart!
Just when he thought all was hopeless, the door opened! He did not hesitate in taking the keycard and running through it. He hoped the door would close behind him. As soon as he looked around, he recognized the room. It was not a welcomed sight.

"That's the wrong spot, it's the one on your left." "Please, I'm tired." "I'm sorry, that didn't sound like a magic converter going into its slot."
Gargamel whimpered as he carried a metal cylinder into the pedestal the giant crystal rose out of. Still safe from their view, Miroslaw could hear a great many things going on in the giant room where he fell from, including the giant metal claws moving about. He could move closer to see his employer, Gargamel, tinkering with the artifact he came to study in the first place only now as a laborer working for the mysterious entity that resided in the giant green crystal.
"Hurry up little meat bag, do you want to be swallowed by scarabs?"
Miroslaw felt the fury swelling up within him. His face grew flush at the thought of what this contraption did to him. This crystal was the reason he was forced to go through such a punishing journey only to end up right back to where he started out. He desired nothing more than to dismantle this thing in one way or another, but it was powerful. He just wanted to leave this place, but he did not want to leave without Gargamel. He was not certain what he was doing. Though, he didn’t think he would be able to remain out of sight for very long at all. He had to think!
The last time, he was taken by surprise. He was unknowing of those strange claws that it controls. Still, he was unsure if he could face it head on. He thought about shooting and arrow at the giant crystal, but that would likely do nothing. It was like a giant one that the spider things had, and probably much more durable. He decided to very discretely pull his bow and notch, but continue to observe what was happening to try and pick up any information that could be helpful.

Miroslaw gallantly charged into the room once it was made clear the great machine intended to kill Gargamel for his completed work. With a swing of his mighty blade the warrior parried the monstrous metal claw, directing the ire of the machine at him.
With a room full of devious machinations and metal monstrosities all seemed hopeless for the lone warrior to combat the insane intelligence dwelling inside the giant gem.
Suddenly, water began to rain down from the ceiling above their heads. A stream of rushing water crashed through and snaked around the giant claws, dismantling them before they hit the floor of the room. Like angels from the heavens, the water elementals surged and leveled the playing field for Miroslaw to take on the giant crystal.
With a mighty cry, the warrior leaped and slammed his sword at the top of the gem, cracking it, and with an ear splitting cry the force within exploded, effectively subduing all the other mysterious forces within.
Thankful for his part in their freedom, the water elemental part from the warrior and dared him to seek them out one day in the wilds along their ponds. The scientist, Gargamel, was extra grateful of Miroslaw for saving his life when he did and gladly rewarded his just dues.
On the surface, before he parted with his little rat friend, Rogelio thanked the warrior for helping him escape the dank of the lower levels and quickly sought out more cheese for his own. However, a sickness was beginning to take hold as a mysterious card he picked up from the storage room clung to his pocket...
