Right, like I said. Not exactly warforged, but something with a non traditional mode of procreation. Magic based perhaps? again, just spitballing ideas.
I could definatly support the inclusion of Drow into the elf race. We could break down elf appearance by the land that they come from.
More on the "created race" idea. They wouldnt have to be magical or a contruct. Perhaps they are birthed from pods or vats or breeding pools or what have you. Something with a non traditional family structure. Perhaps a plant based race. Kind of a twist on Dryads. Green skin and vibrant colored hair. Or humaniod insects, though that may be reaching too much... (large black eyes and antenna, maybe some barbs along the arms or something but otherwise human looking)
It may just be from my playing Neko, but I for one have really enjoyed playing a character with a different outlook on what family is than the norm and think it could be an interesting flair to add to a race.
Another bit of RP flair we could have is to have a "dying race". They have somehow lost the ability to bear young. (Sterile or whatever) so they live their lives knowing that they are the last of their race. That unless something changes they will soon die out and that each member of their race is special, whether good or bad. How would you live your life knowing that if you die, thats it. there will be no others to replace you or continue on after. Would you be so willing to slay a member of your own race, no matter how bad they are, if you knew it was going to take you one step closer to extinction?
I would appreciate all forms of "created" race you mentioned. I did some work, way back in TTD, on an insect race. Kind of a moth type of thing. Maybe I can find the images I had.
Of all the graveyards in all the towns in all the world, she had to walk into mine.
As depressingly evil that sounds it can add a bit of flair to a character. But the traditional route is cool have the base races from the standard fantasy setting be available with a few added from our hive mind of craziness we staff weave up sometimes.
With inventory done, this is my next project, Lemme say this much:
The races I have chosen consist of a new look at some of the classics and some unique concepts.
All fit inside our current rule set for creation.
I have not included anything I consider obscure, or without broad enough appeal. I am not making a race list that is lengthy for the sake of variety. That said, there is no bug people.
