His gaze followed the girl around, standing still as she circled around him.
Tell me about it.
When she stopped, he cocked his head and studied her....and leaned down, pulling down his scarf, revealing the shining white grin of teeth and spotless jawbone.
And I got a feeling you're not a lot less normal, hun. He pulled his scarf back up, leaning in towards her.
What you here for, little girl? Jerking his head towards Zhara, he let out a small chuckle.
She ain't mine, but if you're looking to hurt her you will have to deal with me. Just warning.
Of all the graveyards in all the towns in all the world, she had to walk into mine.
The young lady still looked as spaced out as she did before, still not making much sense now that she was speaking the common tongue. Even though the skeleton man asked her a question, she continued to observe him his existence was still more fascinating than she was.
"Scans indicate that there is no such technology on this world that would be capable of corpse reanimation, much less for just the skeletal system. The lack of a proper, functioning biology brings up other questions, such as where the ability to speak comes from without a respiratory system."
Calix spoke with the tonal autonomy of a brain dead Orc, and with growing fluidity in her language. There lay something of a spark in her eyes, excitement perhaps, as she talked into her device as though it had ears. There was a sense that the girl was still in the process of 'waking up' in her new body as her stance and speech slowly changed. Not that the former still made much sense.
The young lady picked up her arm again to press her fingers against the bracer, "Recommend subject extraction for further study after recovery of the conduit. Oh..."
As she trailed off, the girl turned to give attention to Zhara once again, having ignored her earlier inquiry. Calix put down the arm and worriedly looked at the mage as if remembering their earlier encounter.
"If you will not harm me, then perhaps I may request the return of my conduit? It is the.....ummm......" the girl trailed off once again, unsure how to form her words before finding something close to her meaning.
"It is the shiny rock?" she said, still not certain that was the best way to describe the object Calix was sure lay in Zhara's possession.
This weird new girl was slowly becoming annoying. Zhara narrowed her eyes while being ignored. Then, she had the nerve demanding things.
Zhara shook her head.
"I will not return anything until you give me answers," Zhara said curtly, "Who are you? Why do you say you're me? What is that shiny rock? How did you lose it? What the hell is going on?"
Before the girl could get to answer proper, the Sentinels from before were making a return along their route and saw that the two strangers they met before now had an almost nude damsel with them.
They rushed on over with swords drawn, "Halt, what is the meaning of this?"
The other chimed in, "What have you done to this woman? Explain yourself, and perhaps a few nights in the cells will be the least of your concerns."
Calix merely looked on, as if putting together the puzzle of their new predicament with the same curiosity she showed to Skul.

Calix shot a glance at Zhara before sharply leering over to the Sentinels. In a quick move, uncharacteristic of the girl thus far, she stretched out her hand toward the Sentinels and an invisible force shot forth from her palm.
The Sentinels were knocked several feet in the feet before hitting the ground with a loud thud, leaving their bodies to slump to seeming lifelessness.
The stranger examined her hand with new fascination and activated here bracer once more, "Temporary disguise's physiology provides notable increased output to psionic abilities not seen in previous gene replication processes. Recommend retrieving a bio sample for further analysis."
The young lady turned to face Zhara, now glowing with a renewed confidence.
"I will not ask again, primitive, return to me my conduit or I'll have to extract it by force. Statistics gathered thus far suggest that your loss would be deemed, unimportant..."
Calix extended her hand once more and pointed her palm at Zhara with a notable glow in her eyes.
I didn't need this today. I really didn't need it. Two days back to the land of the living and I'm already in deep swamp.... He pulled down the brim of his hat, and sprinted. He grabbed the wrists of the two girls, deceptively strong for his light frame, and tried to pull them along, trying to get them out of the city, or at least the visible bits.
Of all the graveyards in all the towns in all the world, she had to walk into mine.
The girl yelled at Calix. However, what came out of this new girl mouth was even worse. Nothing angers the young girl mage more than demands and threats. Nothing makes Zhara more obstinate than force.
Zhara was about to give Calix a piece of her mind when Skul pulled the both of them away. The girl wiggled and flailed herself about like a little girl throwing a tantrum.
"What the hell do you all think you're doing? No one is answering me. Everyone is just ordering me about or forcing me this way and that! I have a say too you know!"
Calix was strangely compliant, at least to a point. The stranger gritted her teeth as the skeleton man pulled her away, seeming to understand the need for it. She shot a glance toward Zhara, annoyed.
"You wouldn't understand anyway, primitive, you and the rest of your barbaric race, whatever you call yourselves."
The young lady was quickly becoming more agitated, and more violent by the minute, a contrast to the pathetic form that cried in the streets earlier.
As soon as Skul dragged the ladies away from the city gate, he felt himself losing his grip before violently being pushed away; specifically away from Calix.
"I've had enough, primitive and....thing. I can see now that memory alteration is too good for you."
Just outside the gate, with nary a soul nearby, the strange girl had a glow in her eye like a mage summoning strength. Both Skul and Zhara felt a powerful force brewing, but no indication as to what sort of magic it was. The power Calix displayed thus far was unlike anything magical either have ever seen.
"I'll not stay on this world another cycle!" She was really upset now...
Stretching out both hands toward the two, Calix shouted and released a powerful wave of invisible force hurtling toward them, obvious enough for them to have sensed it before its actual release.
The skeleton had tried to help them, guiding them through the back alleyways he knew of when he was alive. It was only after they'd left the city proper that Calix seemed to not like being manhandled. Before he could quip anything, he was thrown against a stone wall. His hat fell off into his lap, his scarf loosened until it fell around his overcoat. He shook his head, plainly visible for what he was now. He gave a small groan, holding his head as he got to his feet and retrieved his hat.
Lucky me, I still feel pain. I s'pose it makes just as much sense as me walking around anyway... He brushed off his coat and straitened his tie, reaching into his pocket and producing a match, striking it against his jawbone, making the tip blaze a bright purple.
You're startin' to throw a tantrum, little girl. Not that I think you really are one. Let's take it nice and slow, darlin'.
As he spoke, he dropped the match into his palm, and his hand alighted in purple flame. He didn't intend to hurt the girl, at least not as long as she looked like that.
Before both of us does somethin' we regret. Let's put away the magic, and I'll put away mine. Savvy?
Of all the graveyards in all the towns in all the world, she had to walk into mine.
Zhara narrowed her eyes. This girl "thing" was getting to her. Sensing a possible attack, Zhara brought her arms up and then straight down to create a cyclone of wind around herself to protect her from whatever Calix sent their way.
"Barbaric?" Zhara smirked in reply, "You're the one being aggressive."
