Alec and I were chatting (for those of you who don't know, Alec is a returned member who was with us for quite some time) and it got me thinking about activity. Now I have said I don't have the energy into getting us some new players (we also need GMs quite badly) so I want to put this out to everyone.
If we all do our part, we can see this place thrumming with activity again. It will take a little work and dedication, but we have enough people to make it happen.
I'd like a show of hands on who would like to help and I truly hope it's not just the usual suspects. There's just a few things to see to and I know we can turn our activity around. Believe me, I done it enough times in the past
I can't promise that I'll be able to help much, with my slow activity on the site as it is, but I'd be willing to take a crack at something if I know I can handle it and easily pour in some brain power.

Likewise. Until I've got my own computer back in working condition, I won't be able to do all that much, but I'd like to do whatever I can. I mean, given that I did catalyze the whole thing.
If anyone would like to consider GM (your level of activity entirely up to you), then please let me know. We need to get some more people running things, rather than Neko doing all the work.
I'm not asking for monstrous tales and unending surprises. New players need something simple (albeit interesting) to get their feet wet. If you think you can run some basic quests for people starting out, then let me know. Please.
However, if taking on any form of GM responsibility is liable to curb your enthusiasm entirely, then don't apply. I'd rather have less GMs, then lose an active player.
Of course I am always willing to help in whatever way I can. Just depends on my workload and what sites my work will allow as far as how much I can do at a time.
It's been quite awhile since I've been part of the community, (back in the TTD days) but I'd be willing to lend a hand. I want become active again and get more involved.

Thanks Don for answering AA'a questions and welcome back AA
To clarify - no, I haven't done any promoting. I haven't been here all that much in all honesty. If I'm to be quite open about it, I think the revolving door on members vanishing, then showing up for a day and then vanishing again has tired me out some.
I think if you're all quite willing to help out, I will have to suck it up and remove dome of our GMs, archive some characters and slap on a new coat of paint.
Well that's tricky. At work I set people very specific tasks with expectations and walk them through it. I can't do that here. I can't just set expectations and actually expect someone to follow through. They're not paid to do it, or to be here and as frustrating as that might be, I tend to not ask for much because I'd rather not have someone take me up on something and then simply not show.
But, I digress. I will cover this here as the lounges don't cater to many people presently.
I need to: - Remove Zae and Tauer from the GM list. I miss them dearly, but I think we need a stern look at what we actually have to work with. - Likewise, I have to remove sweet poppet from the admin list. She simply isn't active and whilst I wish that wasn't the case, it can't be helped. - I need to add Serenity to the GM list. - I won't add Alec's new character, he hasn't been about since he created it (yes bud, I am calling you out.)
That will leave us with very little staff. The tricky part there is what little time they have which doesn't lend itself to getting this place up and running. I don't wish to seem negative, I just want people to have a realistic perspective on where we are at. To that end, I need to archive any character which has been inactive for a month or more.
So, that leaves the community. Right now, very few people are active outside of Neko. So that would suggest that we need players. Not more characters by the same players, but new blood. We need some people with bright eyes and bushy tales who have all the enthusiasm to rp and make a home here. I won't bs anyone, I find it hard to work with new players who are low key or don't really excite me. I lose interest and that is likely just the age showing.
So yup, a group of spirited new peeps who like the setting, have some great character ideas and mix it up for us. Heck, some people who really take off and show they have a great grasp on things would be great, because we badly need some new GMs.
We also need promotion done. I just don't have the time and it's not fun. It's a daily task and really, once set up, it only takes 1/2 and hour a day. I really don't have that time on weekdays. Once that is rolling we can expect to see a couple of new people each week. 1 in 5 stick around, so we could get three long term players every couple of months. Maybe we can do better.
We also need fresh ideas. New and exciting things that give us something to have fun with and get inspired about. You'll notice I haven't updated my character stats in forever and whilst doing so would likely have me cap out, I don't see the activity in character sheets like we used to have.
I lastly want to say that I don't think the community is to blame, or any one thing got us to this point in terms of inactivity. The wrong stars aligned and a lot of our greatest players and dearest friends simply couldn't be here as often as they would have liked. I think when that happens just too many times, you lose touch and lose interest after a while.
Oh and I will be removing some villains. We could do with some new ones too, that spark the imagination and get people riled up. Maybe some contract work could help.
I had an idea about getting people excited about leveling up their characters again.
Using the talents we already have, I thought we could have abilities or ability trees; things that could help define what we can do with our talents.
An example:
Star Destroyer Prerequisites: Agility 3, Single-handed weapon 2
Your mastery with the blade and flexibility allow you to deflect small thrown weapons with relative ease. You may only deflect projectiles coming from a single source, and only if you're focused on that source.
I know skills like these are already assumed based on our talent point distribution, but I thought it'd be fun to be able to progress and specifically define what skill sets our characters have.
