Zaedus reflected back on his earlier thoughts prior to coming here. He was in need of doing something productive with his time after all. Sitting idly by doing nothing was not his strong suit. He took the time to down the rest of his soup, pouring it into his mouth. Wiping it with a relieved sigh he continued.
"Well, if you have work for me then I can do it. I have been in need of doing something that would prevent me from lazing about all day wondering if there is anything for me to do."
He thought back on Grayell's earlier statement regarding him as the Sentinel Commander. To him it suited what he was looking for. He would be regularly active participating in training with the recruits, and the other established members. That knocked out the physical portion of it. He would also no doubt be delegating tasks for others, and handling things that were pertinent. That took care of the mental aspect. He found no flaw to his reasoning, besides if Grayell wanted to go gallivanting out in the wilds someone needed to be here to keep things going.
"As for assuming the mantle over the Sentinels, I would accept if you will have it so. Someone with some brains has to keep an eye on things whilst running free in the wilderness."
He laughed afterwards. It felt good to do so. it had been a long time since he was able to just sit and chat with an old friend.
Grayell shot him a sly look then, feigning at being insulted. He reached across the table though and clasped his hand on Zaedus' shoulder and smiled.
"And I didn't even have to ask. You won't find it so hard. They take their job seriously and in turn, the people take them seriously. You needn't worry about much beyond the gates, it's all handled as best as it can be.
And don't get suspicious if anyone in my favorite shade of blue is seen skulking about town. I like to keep an eye on things, without having to do the paperwork."
He shot Zae a wink then and finished his drink. Pushing away from the table, he leaned back and relaxed.
"Well. When you're done, we'll take a walk. You'll want to catch up with Kiga soon enough, he's had his hands full with the confusion in the Sentinel's of late. Bit of a mess, without any officially nominated senior officer."
Grayell swung his legs up onto the long bench and laid back, folding his arms behind his head. He tucked his Vanguard hood up and then over his eyes. He wasn't about to nap, but was quite happy to relax whilst Zae finished his meal.
"By the way. Kiko will be thrilled you're home. I'd pay to see her reaction, honestly."
Zaedus stood, nodding in acceptance. However confused when he mentioned this Kiga fellow. He had never met him before. At least he could not remember.
"For being suspicious, now that I know those who wear your shade of color in regards to the hood I guess I needn't worry then. As for this Kiga fellow, I guess when he decides to show up we can meet and discuss things."
He chuckled at his comment about Kiko.
"Maybe so, I know Orin was thrilled, as was Draxius. I sometime have to admire how impressionable humans can be...well...you and Kiko being the exception to the rule of course. No matter. let us not delay the inevitable then shall we? It would be good to get the "serious" matters at hand dealt with instead of sitting on them"
He walked away from the table, and headed to the door that led out from the dining room. He stopped short of it and looked back.
Welcome back to the fold, bud. I am gonna run, this was short and sweet. You have a gift in recognition of your accepting this duty and let's aim for getting all factions fully functional.
