Aegil opened her eyes, a surprising innocently confused expression there. "I... do not understand what you mean..?" she frowned as she thought upon his words, her gaze shifting to fall upon the light. She had momentarily forgotten it and she suddenly flinched away from it, the motion visible. "You... mean Spectr-" her eyes widened then pressed shut. "Shutting up now..." she mumbled to Spectre. Suddenly her gaze became laced with a small bit of suspicion. "What... did you do to me...?" she felt funny, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. His healing touch kept her further distracted making the task of coherant thought impossible. "No... its nice..." she mumbled, relaxing again. "It makes him go away a little..." her smile turned sad, and her half lidded gaze seemed to showcase her exhaustian from always carrying such an impossible burden. "One day he'll be gone forever... but..." she looked at Shen with a brief frown. "When my purpose is finally complete... and I'm free of him... what happens then... so many years..." she sighed and closed her eyes. "And then theres Uncle to worry about..." she visibly shuddered, a look of emotional pain on her features.

Shen listened to her words quite intently and as she wound down, he sighed. He'd bound her knee and left it feeling remarkably better, then moved his hand to test her pulse at her temple and neck. He tugged at her eyelids and studied her pupils for a moment, then nodded as if in confirmation of something.
"Right. Well I am done for the time being, but you're staying here for tonight only. I'd like to check on your progress in the morning and I don not make house calls. You're in no state to walk and I am certainly not about to play chaperone."
Were she not drugged, and had she known him a great deal better; she might have noticed how very unusual it was of Shen to make such an offer. As it was though, she felt quite drowsy and under the effects of such drugs; sleep should do her a world of good.
She got up and began putting his things away. He didn't look as he finished, but spoke.
"We'll discuss my fee in the morning. I'll get you a blanket."

Aegil suppressed a yawn and nodded slowly. Her eyes followed him and she offered a surprisingly soft smile and thankyou, the effect of which seemed to give her a new attractive quality. She seemed... gentler, and she had not felt such peace since she had been a small child, a small child who had made a dreadful mistake. Since Spectre had joined her, or rather since she had given him place in this world and then been forced to bind him to her, she had not had a peaceful nights rest. She tried and failed to raise herself from the chair, suddenly dizzy from the effort alone and briefly wondered where she was meant to sleep.

Shen returned with a generously-soft looking blanket and draped it over her, pulling it from her feet and up about her shoulders. He then tugged a level on the side of the chair and reclined it backward, til she was resting much more comfortably.
He flicked his hand and the light dimmed, leaving the jar of glow-bugs as they were before his magic, the tiny orb extinguished some time ago.
"Good night... miss."
And with that, Shen shambled off toward the stairs that led to his room. But not without crashing his shin into something and making a terrible ruckus, as he cursed and waddled off to bed himself.

"Aegil..." she mumbled as he left, eyes already shut. "Names.. Aegil..." and before she knew it peace and blessed darkness settled over her weakened concious.

Shen woke Aegil with a rough shake at her shoulder the next morning, just as he finished his breakfast. As she stirred, he polished off his coffee and then slung his book across his waist, fully dressed and ready to head out the door. The house was cold and dull in the cold morning and he opened the door, waiting by it expectantly.
"I have business elsewhere, but first I need to be paid. Eight gold, as agreed; unless you'd rather negotiate something else."

Aegil blinked rapidly in the dim light, waking with a jolt. Her head ached something fierce and Spectre was mad at her, but for the life of her she couldn't understand why. With a groan she shifted, some of the memories returning from last night, but they ended after that herb... "And what, pray tell, do you mean by other forms of payment?" She grimaced and touched a hand to her temple. As she shifted she relized why she was cold, and with a flush she quickly pulled her robes up again, flashing him a cold glare.

"This herb of yours. I want a cutting, for my own uses. You will have plenty left, or it will grow back by the time you need it. If you know how to use it.
That or the gold, paid immediately.
Make up your mind, I haven't all morning."
He was expressionless and appeared more interested in lighting his pipe than bothering to look her over. Truth be told, he knew the quality of his craft and were she to inspect her injuries herself, she'd realize she was with no pain and very little discomfort.

Aegil eased herself to a stand, pleasantly surprised by her physical state aside from the slight migrain. "Just a cutting of the herb then?" she raised a brow. That hardly seemed like much, and with a start she realized she must have let slip the name last night, and she prayed she had not revealed her intentions for the plant. What else had she said? Not too much perhaps if he was only demanding a piece of the one plant then, rather then the ones she sought to procure later. "I suppose I could agree to that..."

Aegil grimaced as she threw on her cloak and picked up her staff, hurrying off after him. "Your a greedy thing aren't you" she snapped at him, though she felt a small twinge of amusement. He had her there. "Though I have a few questions. First of all, how exactly am I to bring to you your payment?" She wasn't exactly an idiot in the herbal department, though she wasn't quite certain she knew enough about pruning that it would satisfy for what he asked of her. "As well, how do you even expect to know just what or how many plants I seek? For all you know I could be after a few sprigs of dandelion for a good tea." Her lips curled into a small smirk at that.

Shen stared at her until she closed his door and then turned once more, making to head down the street. Again, his pipe seemed to hold most of his attention as he spoke.
"Dandelion has many medicinal uses, so long has you don't mistake it for Hawk's Rush, though they both taste terrible. And I am not a fool, so don't suggest you can play me for one. I'll know full well when you've accomplished your collection and have no doubt that you'll be seeking further help from me with your particular affliction. I might suggest you remain in my good graces."
He thought for a moment, finishing his pipe and tapping it out on the side of his boot, having halted his stride. He then turned to her and lowered his glasses down his nose some and leaned forward to size her up.
"In response to how you'll get me my payment, I think you'll find that a trivial matter. It's only fair that I inform you, I detest having someone indebted to me. It makes me quite unagreeable. And I cannot tolerate people who do not make good on their debt, in a timely manner.
If I decide at any time that you are not honouring your debt, I will expect that full eighty gold. In that event, you should be quite grateful I am indeed a greedy thing as you so inelegantly put it."

Aegil paused as well, and scrutinized him in a similar manner, though she was required to look up slightly due to height difference. A small chuckle broke from her lips. "The I suppose I can respect you" she stated calmly with a small nod. "Very well its a deal," she agreed, hesitating before holding out her hand, a motion she had never done before but decided it was fitting for the situation. "You have my word." Aegil was a woman who never went back on her word, and her tone reflected this grave truth.
"Though perhaps," she added with an ALMOST lighthearted expression in contrast with her previous tone. "You would be so gracious as to keep this matter between us? I am not accusing you to be a man of a loose tounge" she added quickly to clear up any misinformation. "But I would prefer to keep my presence... quiet, let alone my motives, if you understand me..."

Shen looked at her offered hand with a slight look of distaste, waving the notion away with a disinterested expression. Instead, he turned and carried on his way.
"As you say. I wouldn't have any leverage in the future were I to reveal such information."
He shrugged then, weaving into the morning traffic on the main street of Wistvale, giving little thought to Aegil behind him. He only slowed as he approached the Wistvale Tavern, then spun as he reached for the door.
"You will find me here when you have my payment. I trust you won't have me waiting all day."
With that, he opened the door and stepped inside, not waiting for a reply.
