(Looking for GM. Preferably someone I haven't RPed with recently.)
Orp steps out of the boarding house he resides in and onto the streets near the docks. He takes a look around and then sets off into the dark narrow streets near the docks. Men load crates and barrels off and onto ships, street waifs beg for change, women gossip in the street while cleaning their laundry, men gather around an overturned barrel to gamble their wages away.
Orp walks down the cobbled street and dodges a stream of questionably colored liquid flowing into a drain. He hops up the curb and nearly bumps into a women carrying some packages. She gives him a "Hurrumph" as Orp apologizes and hugs the packages to her chest.
Orp takes a look at the men working at the docks and sees a group of men just off their shift heading to a shabby bar a street down from the shore.
A sign atop the door said "Sea Queen." Orp wasn't sure if that was the name of the bar or the owner of the building but he went in anyway.
Hex [M:40:1020:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=483&page=1#17914]"As the iron leaves fall, our attack will spring..."
It was just another slow day for Hex. He went through his daily training for fire, water, earth, and air, and by then, it was not even then the sun reached it's zenith. Hex was the type whom, in most cases, would be very happy but today, he just wasn't feeling it. The air was moist and humid while the sun beat down upon him as he walked the streets, wielding his codex for whatever may be in store for him.
Come to think of it, Hex hadn't really been social... Besides a few incidents here and there. Perhaps he needed a change of plans! Just as fast as he got down, he perked up as if excited for something, ANYTHING, to happen. He walked along the streets, just as jolly as a mage could be. He saw the people around him just passing by, as if they had somewhere to be, or someone to see. He stood there, looking for something to do, or someone to talk to. He spied a small establishment, called the 'Sea Queen', and decided to adventure in, walking in and trying to find a place to sit.

Orp had taken a seat on a stool at the bar. He had asked for the cheapest drink available and the bartender poured him a glass of sea water. The bartender was a heavy balding man. He polished glasses and laughed a little at his joke with the drink.
Orp ignores his glass and looks around the room. Workers from the docks and men from travelling merchant ships crowded around a few small tables set throughout the room.
Hex [M:40:1020:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=483&page=1#17914]"As the iron leaves fall, our attack will spring..."
As Hex walked into the tavern, his eyes shifted from right to left. He saw men a plenty, sizes that varied from small to large. slightly intimidated, Hex stood frozen at the entrance of the 'Sea Queen.' Perhaps this wasn't a good idea, considering that he was feeling frightened. There was a particular group of people in the corner, a group of what seemed like brigands, just staring at him and playing with their small but deadly knives. He swallowed hard and walked towards the actual bar area.
He walked over and saw a man with an eye, big and brown, sitting at the table. He was a cyclops, and Hex had never seen a real one before. Intrigued, he smiled and tapped the man on the shoulder, trying to get his attention. He wanted to be friendly and kind, and at the same time, not over doing it and making himself seem over zealous.

"No, no please come sit. I've been hoping someone would come sit and talk with me. I haven't had a casual conversation in months. I've been on business trips."
Orp looks over Hex and makes a mental note of how wealthy he thinks Hex is. Didn't seem like too much. More valuable as a friendly companion than an asset.
"So what brings you to this part of town?"
The men at one table seem to have broken into an old sea shanty

"Just like you, I haven't had much casual conversation for a while and I felt like this would be a good place to start, if any."
He noted how nice the cyclops was. This man, rather well spoken, seemed to be at least of some worth in speaking with. He did mention that he has been on business trips, and Hex hasn't traveled as extensively as he has, probably.
"My name is Hex. Hex Synn, Elementalist-in-Training. You mentioned you were on a business trip? Where did you go?"
After a short pause, Hex totally forgot his common manners and proceeded to backtrack for a moment.
"Oops I forgot! What is your name good sir?"

"Name's Orp Boon, merchant and procurement specialist. I can sell you anything in the world given enough time and enough gold."
Orp leans his elbow onto the bar and points with his finger.
"Just last month I was over in Genovia working out a deal between some Arcadians and some traders from here in town. The Genovians were offerering to buy some raw materials like lumber and stone for a price way under the market price. I offered the Arcadians a better price with a lot up front. I think the Acadians have taken the money and ran though. Haven't heard word since I came back."
Hex [M:40:1020:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=483&page=1#17914]"As the iron leaves fall, our attack will spring..."
"Oh, a merchant, eh? Is your work tough? I bet it's help a lot with your funds or debts, if any."
He smiled as he turned to the cyclops. As he was listening to his story, something just didn't seem right about it. Not about the validity of the story, but rather what happened when he was explaining what happened.
"Do you suspect foul play, Orp?"
Hex was genuinly interested in this topic, just as if he was helping someone.
"If you want help trying to find these Acadians, I could help out..?"

"Thanks for the concern friend, but it takes a long ride on a ship to get to them. It'd take most of my funds for a one way trip."
Orp taps his fingers on the counter in a strange little dance.
"If my calculations are correct, even if I could afford passage on a ship, it'd be more worthwhile to stay here and invest my money in town. I'm hoping to find some sort of business that strikes my interest."
Hex [M:40:1020:][D3v:http://rpgmenagerie.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=cs&thread=483&page=1#17914]"As the iron leaves fall, our attack will spring..."
"What kind of business were you thinking of, Orp?"
As he spoke to the cyclops, something about it made him strike his fancy. Perhaps they could work together on something, although Hex didn't really have any crafting skills nor skills that could benifit from him. However, he had to ask, just so he could say he did.
"Well, Orp, if you think it's best to invest here in town, what do you think you'd invest it in?"

In reality, Hex had no clue what he was talking about. What do you mean a 'not legtimate business'? Was it not official? Oh wait, maybe that's what he was talking about. A non-official business... Doing shady things, with shady people.
"So what kind of stuff does the..."
He whispered quietly to Orp as he also leaned in.
"... 'in' community do?"

"Well I'm not exactly sure. I used to be pretty important in this town but the old counsel dissolved years ago and I've been all over geographically for a while. I've lost my touch with the"

Hex felt naughty talking about things such as 'the underground' world of Wistvale: if there is one. This wasn't the most popular nor richest of the towns, but it was big enough to have some dirt in it. Perhaps Hex was too new to even know about that kind of world that lived here. However, the conversation turned the focus from Orp to himself.
"Well... My mother passed away recently, as with the other dryads, so I was trying to find a new home... And this place had other humanoids such as cathians or cyclopes, such as yourself."
Hex was trying to give away certain clues as to himself, but tried to keep parts of him hidden just in case this Orp was dangerous. He wasn't going to lie, but he isn't going to tell the full truth just yet.

"Yes, The people of Wistvale mostly keep to themselves and don't judge. My condolences for your mother. May I ask how she died?"
Orp feels a little sorry for the kid. Kid? He isn't quite sure how dryad aging works but Hex retained his age well if he was near as old as Orp.
Losing a parent is tough. Kid seems pretty happy but might be holding some feelings back. Somebody should help him out, maybe get him a place to stay. Not Orp, of course, but somebody.
