The cat lands heavily and does not get up. It remains as a shadow on the floor. Loreburn can see it still breathing, but struggling. It lies in a vulnerable heap.
With a groan, Loreburn gets up, and his shadow slithered back to him. Rubbing his head through the strain of shadowboxing, he walked over to the crumpled heap of the cat and checked its "pulse."
Sir...ma'am. I...I did warn you. Are you lucid?

The shadowcat coughs and bits of shadow fly off into nothing. The cat begins to unmelt and reform into a solid form, still retaining it's curled up injured pose.
As it materializes Loreburn can see that the cat is bleeding.
He winced, trying to see the extent of the injury. He may be a blood mage, umbrakinetic, necromancer, and demon summoner, but any life lost at his hands was a lapse of control.
Sir, can you stay awake? I don't know if you'll respond to mortal blood magic....what were you doing here?

He looks down at the small thing, waving a blood-magic hand over the body. It probably wouldn't help, but he had to try.
Ma'am...stay awake for me, please. Can you stay awake?
It didn't look good, but he at least had to be there for the creature's end.

Loreburn feels the life flow out of the cat until it finally dies on the floor. Blood begins to pool and flow into the channels in the floor of the room.
He was distressed at having to kill the cat creature, but even more distressed at the blood flowing into the channels of the floor. He panicked slightly, backing against the wall.
Portal to Sanguia. How much blood. Not much. Systems in place already. Just waiting. For someone to screw up.
In horror he watched the blood flow, trying to redirect it, knowing he couldn't do it all.
No no no no. By the black blood of Bartimeaus....

The blood in the floor has soaked into the grooves and is pulled up and into the archway at the end of the room. A bright light, loud boom and forceful burst of air erupt from the archway.
Shielding his eyes from the light and wind and sound, he braced himself against the force coming from the portal.
No no no no! Bad bad! In full panic mode now, he threw his hands towards the floor, gritting his teeth as he dragged the air around him, crimson runes forming in the air, trying to draw the blood away from the portal.

Loreburn is too late to stop the portal from opening. Most of the blood was sucking into the archway as the portal opened so only dribbles were left in the grooves on the floor.
Through the portal, Loreburn can see are two rows of torches leading off into the darkness of a very dark cavern.
He hesitated, looking from the portal to where he'd come from.
Portal to Sanguia. Wistvale. Knowledge. Safety. Power....ignorance. A long pause, and then he sighed, heading into the portal.
Gods damn my curiosity. I'm not even a cat.
He tried to take one of the torches with him. Best to have a source of flame if he needed it.

Loreburn's entrance is accompanied by a low thump and a small flash of light. He picks a torch off the railing and starts off into the depths of the dark cavern. The torches seem magickal as no normal torch could last as long as these have. The path he walks is a wide stone pathway. If he looks over the high lip of the pathway, Loreburn can tell its a far drop off the side but he can't see the bottom.
The raised pathway stretches on for what seems like infinity in the distance but as Loreburn treks onward towards the vanishing point of the rows of torches of the path he can see something at the end of the path. The distance and the torches make it unclear.

He looked over the sides of the bridge, his curiosity overriding his fear of heights somewhat.
Books....legends of Sanguia. Never been. His self-mumbled thoughts were fractured, brain working overtime to try and process what he was seeing. He'd never really been in any of the larger dimensions, much less one so infamous. The thing at the end of the bridge caught his attention, but he didn't call out or make himself known until he could get closer to it.

As Loreburn reaches the end of the long stone path, he sees other lit pathways approaching like spokes to some central location. Where all the paths converge is a wide cylinder of stone and brick. The outside wall is long and only slightly curves back on itself.
What Loreburn saw was a dark doorway into the wall at the end of the path.
Through the doorway Loreburn sees layers of walls broken, punctured or blown to bits by something rather large, like one of those wooly mammoths he had seen in books. The layers of walls form the walls of a circular labyrinth with multiple entrances. The hallways are still navigable.
