Grayell growled playfully and as she broke ahead, his eyes shimmered for but a moment, a white wash over them then back to blue. He picked up speed, seeing each obstacle as he came upon them, instinctively stepping on this, swerving about that and watching the forest fly by. He followed her, her red and white tail bouncing side to side... and Grayell chuckled. She was an attractive fox but he put his more base thoughts from his mind and focused instead on their surroundings.
She slipped into a hollow too small for him and so he ran to the side and toward a bramble that ended his trail. He shot to his right, scurried under a branch and then bounced, paws pounding off a tree and back into the mess of thorns. He swung to his left, ducked right and refusing to slow his pace, almost got scratched badly on his flank. The bracken fell away and again he broke onto the game trail, laughing.
She looked back, smiling, waving her tail at him as she headed into the rocky hills. The trees grew a little thinner but did not let up as the terrain grew more and more rocky. She turned suddenly, heading down a hill out of Gray's vision, through a stream to lose her scent, then up and around another hill. She stopped and waited, seeing if he would catch up, ready to run if he did.
Grayell came over the hill like smoke, his paws finding no fault in their placement. He twisted between rocks and the occasional shrubs, weaved and shifted before loose rock would tumble where he has been a moment earlier. He bounced from a log and onto the silt beside the sand and then, his nose huffing the ground he stopped.
He pricked his ears and looked about, graceful stature holding his head high, his eyes bright and alert. After a moment and a twitch of his ears later, he waded into the shallows of the stream and closed his eyes, lapping water into his mouth.
She waited, listening to him sniff around and drink. She grew impatient and shifted again, becoming a small fox. She snuck around the hill, through the brush, watching him from a bush, nearly invisible.
Grayell's ears heard movement and he lifted his head. They turned like radars, seeking out sound but she'd eluded him... perhaps. His eyes swept the other side of the creek bed and picked through the brush.
After a moment of his investigating seemed to shrug in this form and again settled in to drink from the cool stream. But she could tell, the very corner of his wolfen mouth was smiling...
Grayell sat back and he too shifted back to his regular self. He smiled as he simply sat in the water, laid back and folded his arms behind his head on the shore.
Yes, you most certainly did. And whilst I can smell you miles away Kitten, I was so hoping you'd pounce.
He chuckles and closed his eyes, bathing in the sun. And the water I suppose.
Grayell sighed and enjoyed the sun and water for but a moment later before he got to his feet with a surprisingly spry bounce. He looked to the direction she'd gone and gave a 'well what to you do' kind of face.
As he stepped from a rock he slid into his shift and again was on her tail, quite literally. She'd vanished again but his nose was following her every step.
Liseth kept ahead of him enough that Gray only saw flashes of red and white in the distance ahead of him. She came to a deep ravine, with a log stretching across it. This time she jumped on the log, pausing for a moment to jump on the middle, waiting for it to crack and break, then scampered to the other side. Then she turned and sat on the edge, watching the log fall into the ravine, smiling. When Gray caught up, she called out to him from across the ravine.
Grayell sniffed the air, it whipping over his face and hackles. He looked to her and with his gaze on hers he shifted back to human. He was smiling. He tapped his foot, folded his arms.
You might wanna back up.
He turned and walked back into the brush, out of sight.
Grayell shrugged when he heard that but kept walking.
I hear that a lot...
She couldn't have heard him, he was travelling in a bee line away from the ravine. When he'd traveled a reasonable distance he turned, looked the way he'd come and dusted off his hands.
Yep. Only live once, right?
Grayell started with a bounce, his arms starting to sway. He pummeled the ground one foot after the other, eyes locked on his path. His nose flared, fueled his lungs as he sprinted toward the chasm, teeth locked. But he smiled. He had never felt this alive. Not before Verrick, not during Verrick and sure as shit not after. His body was entirely buzzing with stimuli, everything seemed so... complete and whole and he marveled in how completely he felt a part of that. Like nothing could stop him.
He'd gained remarkable speed, his blood rushing through muscle fiber tainted with magic, fired by her blood. His legs bunched and then unfolded, hands whipping in front of his chest in sync with his opposing leg, mouth now sucking air through grit teeth, eyes still locked on to the ravine as it came into view....
He burst out of the brush at the edge of the cliff with incredible speed and in an instant slipped into wolf form, front paws landing, his rear swiveled forward and kicked off the cliff with everything he could muster.

Over what seemed like forever, but was actually only a few moments, Gray sailed across the ravine, fur and muscles rippling with strength and speed, landing gracefully on the other side and sliding a few feet in the gravel. Liseth sat, staring.
Grayell spun on his heels quickly and locked on her gaze with his wild, blue eyes. He didn't shift but instead tilted his head with a cute look. Seems puppy dog eyes worked well even for men when you were... well something like a dog.
He pressed his front paws forward and then stretched back on his haunches, opened his mouth and yawned with a satisfied whine, his tongue curling. He rocked forward, walked to her side and then lifted to lick her cheek.
He dropped back to the ground and trotted along the trail.
